400, nom, but it is an actual Pontiac 400, 4spd upgraded to 5 speed, interior doesn’t suck and listen to that sound emoji41.png

That is a lot nicer than my son’s ‘69 RS...

Might be busy today. Got this for my truck and wife’s new car but will try to bring back some color on the old car.

Griots - in early 2000's I wanted their random orbital polisher and found out it was rebranded Porter Cable. Walked into Lowes and they were dicontinuing that model so I grabbed 3 of them for about 30 bucks each. I still have one for appying wax or polish and one to remove it and a spare just in case

Got the pedal assembly installed and pressed with the dash. Wired it all up, hooked up all HVAC stuff. Finalized the wiring in the engine bay. Holding off on the brake booster as I have to adjust the valves beforehand.

The plan for tomorrow is to install the steering column and some small misc items and pull the lifters to verify some measurements before a potential fire up in the fall.

Instrument specialties rebuilt the dash to turnkey specs. Took them 11 months but very high quality stuff.

Yeah I saw that on the older model. This is the new G9 and I’m really impressed with how my truck came out. I tested a spot on the Mustang trunk lid too

That's the hamilton pool road crossing?

I like that drive, but man on a nice saturday or a sunday there are some folks on motorcycles doing some stupid shit around some of those turns.  I got my head on a swivel on that road.

Yes, Hamilton Pool Road.  We saw very few motorcycles, about 4-5 crotch rockets and maybe 6-8 cruisers/Harley Davidsons

Speaking of waxes, I got some Collinite 845 for my new (to me) ride, which is not classic.

It strikes me that it would be a very good wax for older paint when you want to avoid cleaners and polishes.  It goes on and off real easy, shines up nice, and supposedly is quite long lasting.  I can vouch for the first two, the last remains to be seen.

Finalized wiring, installed battery cable...8 wires, thanks Mopar. Pain reading schematics all day trying to find the right locations. Installed steering column and hooked it up and then moved over to the engine.

Pull valve covers off and installed 5.5 Qts of a break in oil and started priming the engine. Ran into some issues as the driver's side head will not oil no matter what. Turned engine by hand multiple rotations while running the drill on the priming rod and no luck. Going to have to pull off the rocker shaft pedestals and see if the oiling holes are blocked and then go from there. fda23eef907e5d674a5dac89ca1b1277.jpgfa57f895264edd6ae9de974f21358c48.jpg6a1dd08a8320e86a9fcaf53a4b8b53f1.jpg8fc07ab9cbd65527647e0c6711736164.jpgaec2132449effd9ef66f655e364d0c5f.jpg

Amazing.  Love the white interior.  Is the body Acapulco Blue?  You probably told me but I forgot.

Cant wait to go on a cruise with you and @Anastasis.  Maybe we can have a Surly Austin cruise day.

dayyyyyyyum can I ask what your dynamat bill was?

14 hours ago, Anastasis said:

And the weight bill.

Haha, I bought one box and it only covered about 1/3 of the area.  I said fuck that and finished it off with a different product, Kilmat, that was about 1/2 the thickness and 1/3 the price.

I did use the Dynamat on the inside of my doors.  Doors that once closed perfectly now need a little more oomph to shut solid - I think the weight may have caused a slight deflection.  Just add that mistake to the bonfire of the other hundred mistakes I've made during this little project.

Everything I've read on the sound vibration aspect is that you just need to dampen the panel vibration and full coverage is not needed for that.

For Heat you need a different approach and sometimes a different product.

That is a spitting image of my first car except for the tail and window fins (don't think that was original on that model, anyway) and that mine had a red interior.  Bought it in 1975 for $950.  Never should have sold it.  I carried two bags of sand in the trunk because it was so light in the rear that it was prone to swaying on a fast acceleration or in slippery road conditions.

I like that the blackout hood is done correctly, not gloss.

He doesn't do anything halfassed when it comes to cars. Isn't into hot rodding so much as high-po mods to muscle cars.

Here are some pics of his stable.

*& As happens occasionally via Tapa, pics loaded out of order.

The red Mach 1 is parked next to the white one for sale.9a1653b4d8870020482f6428a004c906.jpg10f1ce11808b8b326dfb573635d9c2f7.jpg9ebc291c3d72910c35a099b22a0652d5.jpg9da6e1f2ab98b7ab148713b2084cdbc2.jpg64d3a56817f5616eeacaca71883c5d96.jpg

A real 66 GT for sale, really sharp car.  Fastbacks are getting scarce, and REAL GT's are even harder to find.  Ran across this yesterday during a job site visit.

Numbers matching, etc?  VIN checks out as a "real" GT?

I didn't look at the data plate. We were driving by on the way to a park service battlefield, and I stopped to look at it. It's a pretty nice car. The interior was clean, rally pac, automatic, black interior.  It's easy enough to check the numbers on those cars, engine, transmission, data plate.  All of the badges, and gas cap looked original as well, nothing shiny, and new.

My man, the garage is a space far and away from my quarantined family.  I don't give a shit what the specs are, I was going to take the time to cover every square inch of the interior. If I hadn't spent 10k on the paint job I might have covered the exterior.

The best quote I've gotten from someone I trust to paint it was 10K.  Goes up from there.

Dreading that when I get my MGA back.  Guys working on it are very high end and their paint is 20K. The current paint was done by my Dad after taking courses at community college to learn how. Can't complain  -  it has lasted 40 years

MGA is only half a car, should be half the price.

Any updates on this?  I winced when I first read this.  Having that occur to a rebuilt ( I assume) motor is ... less than ideal.

Hope you figured it out.
