Make sure no fuel or brake lines nearby. Sliced right thru a brake line once cutting out the floor cause I didn't look first

I had to completely pull the fuel line off the floor and remove the gas tank

My FIL is looking to trade/sell his 1 owner bored and stroked 1969 Pontiac GTO. 35k original miles. full OEM except the stereo and motor being bored and stroked + edelbrock carb.

Will take pics soon. He wants a full retro-mod convertible firebird with disc brakes, a crate engine and all the modern creature comforts instead of the full OEM experience in the GTO.

Yeah, garage kepts under a cover for majority of it's life.

It currently lives in my garage and has for the last 4 years. Start it every few weeks. Don't drive it too much.

That’s pretty badass.  Not my style, but fucking cool to have a true survivor.

Here are a few I found in Bullard Tx today as I was looking for land. Spoke with the owner and gave me the speech "it's not for sale, nothings for sale. Nothing special but 70 coronet 440 (LA tags from 2002 on it), 68 coronet, duster, dart and 66 charger. Definitely some good parts. a982b4cd14106388b2b3a2655ea09b99.jpg361dd343ddd752486658a848b4dfc2fd.jpgbfdd913f24f2f590862430de2dc85f98.jpg03b9703d7685befa470281beaab56882.jpgc8d4157d7dd7e496896723f7e1311a8e.jpg813a381a547d5460435e4b41b6640961.jpg685ca547cc080d1624c02c7abe6202e2.jpgc306b2946bb30ab6b2abd3524c15b900.jpge281d6bee9a0c8adab7455043e785107.jpg

Saw something fairly local to me on Facebook and thought about you. Thought about seeing if it was legit.

Hope you left a card.  Everything, after all, is for sale.
Enough money and time people eventually cave and sell. All the cars were nothing special though and had some issues at least from what I could see. Still good to see old cars in fields.

Problem is these car hoarders need to sell to people who will revive them. They all sit on them with the skewed thought that one day they’ll restore them. But they never will.

I know.  I’m just saying that everyone says not for sale. But pretty much anything and everything has a price.

Nine years and he’ll be driving that car. He wants to make sure it’s done correctly 😏

Nice to have a youngster to get into spaces you have no chance of. Also limits your ability to cuss at parts that won't behave

And bumper fun on the 1962 MGA continues.

I felt like the engineers in Apollo 13 movie

We have to make all this

Fit together - using nothing but that

There's a reason old cars were in limited numbers. That rear bumper probably takes at least 15 minutes to build for each car. Took me

several hours. First I learned that two of my overriders were not original. They were very good repos from the 60's but they did not have the

nut welded in. Luckily Huntsville has an old fashioned hardware store down the street and they had the clip nuts

AIMG_1021.thumb.jpg.edf64ce08f4a6bcdbee5e3567659daa8.jpg

a few more false starts and the parts were assembled

Next step = the front bumper which is three separate parts

More bumper fun - part 2.  Front was more complicated since it was three parts

How much does that mat weigh? When I had my camaro, I was gonna use dynamat to line it for sound. I remember reading that you can add a couple of hundred pounds with that stuff.

Yeah the dynamat is heavy.  Lizard skin is another product thats supposed to be lighter and does the same thing.

Amazon says 17 pounds per box (including box).  I have used 1 box plus a few sheets for the floor.  I will put strips on the doors and under the package tray.  I have not decided on the roof yet.  I removed about 10-12 pounds of old underlayment. The new carpet I am installing is thicker/heavier and has a rubberized back and some cotton batting built in.  I am installing new foam and seat covers that will add a few pounds.

I would guess I will be at a net +20 pounds.

Car is rated at 3100 pounds.  New 2021 Mustang is up to 3800 pounds so I guess I am doing ok.

Yeah, the extra mass in the floor boards is a good thing anyway IMO.

And the stuff you removed was not light.

I dynamatted my 65 from firewall to trunk .  I only have the doors left.

i like the idea of the lizard skins light weight , but the dynamat is a little easier to install I think ??

But does it really matter in a convertible? Thinking through this for mine and the normal road noise outweighs prior experience with a coupe.

Yeah true, but it helps keep the heat out of the cockpit a bit, and any noise reduction is good when you start playing with speakers

You guys have speakers in your car? The only music you need is the sound of a big block humming along.

It’s the differentiating option in mine. AM/FM stereo option in 1968. Which turns out to be a nice add when I am cruising top down.

Murica!

Nothing more Murica than cruising top down listening to Jerry Jeff. Which I did under upper 80s degree weather tonight in Texas, top down, fuck you popcorn rain showers, to go pick up pizza and wings and crush a few beers while waiting for the pies to come out.

I do wish that there was a 390 under the hood though. I keep looking at gt fastback auctions and wondering exactly how fucked I would be with the wife if one showed up in the driveway and I had to explain to her why I have two mustangs in the garage and still can't seem to find room for her hauler.
