APD investigating body found near Cesar Chavez

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police Department said Sunday afternoon that it is investigating a death near Cesar Chavez and Nueces Street.

Austin Fire initially responded to 9-1-1 calls about a “male behaving erratically” near Nueces Street and Cesar Chavez Street around 2:00 p.m. Sunday. The male entered the water at Lady Bird Lake, but firefighters pulled him from the water.

Austin Firefighters and Austin-Travis County EMS attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

Cause of death has yet to be determined. An APD public information officer said that APD is not considering the death as suspicious.

A witness interviewed by police said he saw the man screaming, punching trees and foaming at the mouth while walking on the hike and bike trail. The witness reported seeing the man entering the water between the trail and West Cesar Chavez Street, where he began swimming and continued to scream and punch before he went underwater.

On Sept. 29 at around 2:16 p.m., Austin 911 received a report about a man in the 500 block of West Cesar Chavez Street who was screaming and yelling and then crawling on the bank and rolling into the water.

The caller also said he could hear the man screaming while swimming and punching the air, until he went underwater and didn't resurface.

Austin fire and ATCEMS crews responded and were able to locate and pull the man out of the water. AFD and ATCEMS crews attempted life-saving measures, but the man later died.

Does Austin have another serial killer???

The Austin, TX Strangler: Who is he?

For being a profiler they sure did very little profiling also when their DNA isnt in CODIS you have to go the genetic genealogy route.

Austin has always been all about serial killers.

Servant Girl Annihilator is the proper term, and also the name of my Lobo tribute band. Far, far cooler than Midnight Assassin.

Can anyone verify that you didn't leave Atlanta and then go back? I mean we would like to believe you...but too many NCIS, Matlock, Kojak, Monk episodes demand we ask a few questions.
