Maybe it's all still a bit but some of y'all seem to be overlooking the fact that Whitley sucks at AAA and isn't going to magically get better when called up

OK- here's the case against that being the case.

His defense down there sucks.  The bullpen behind him has allowed 5 inherited runners to score (both in innings he handed the ball to them with 2 outs) so if they'd have gotten their guy his ERA would have been sub 4, and every single fly ball he's giving up, practically, has been a HR.  That's not sustainable.  Take that away and you have a guy punching out 9.09 hitters per 9 with a whip of 1.15.  That's an extreme offensive environment.  Those numbers aren't bad, per se.
France has been a lot better and the only bright spot in all of AAA as near as I can tell. Whitley has been fine.  Not as deserving of the call up as France. Probably both more deserving than Bielak just based upon this year.  And I like Bielak just fine as a break glass in case of emergency twice through a rotation guy for 10 days.

France is on day 4 of rest, I expect he gets skipped in his next turn at Sugar Land and called up to start in place of Urquidy.

I would think so.

correct but it’s reaching a point that we give him a spot start or two just to eat innings. If he can look ‘avg’, it’s a bonus

There is also this. Who knows what could happen with a guy who sits 98 with 5 plus offerings. Maybe they eliminate 2 and refine the other 3 and find something.  Maybe he decides he likes the big league per diem and becomes a bit more coachable. Maybe he blows up and I can mourn the loss of his career over the rest of the season.

How is everyone forgetting that Whitley hasn't gotten the benefit of Maldy Magic while in Sugar Land? According to the advanced stats, if you translate his 7.00+ AAA ERA into its MLB equivalent, then adjust for Maldonado wizardry, he would have 8 wins in 6 starts, with a negative ERA. (And that's after shorting him 2 wins for the fact the numbers say Pressly would blow a game and Jose Abreu would cost him another win by somehow hitting into a double play every inning.)

Sounds like he should be fine in a couple of weeks. I read it on the internet

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/baseball-related-shoulder-injuries

Pain after throwing is typical of inflamed rotator cuff tendons. Basically the shoulder is inflamed or irritated after throwing. The exact cause of the pain is not known, although there are several theories about it.

The first possibility is that the tendons are seeing too much stress. This usually occurs when someone tries to get into shape too fast over too short of a period of time. The shoulder and rotator cuff tendons do not like large increases in stress whether it is early in the season or late in the season. Usually when the arm has just seen too much stress, recovery can be achieved with the usual treatments. This includes cutting back on throwing for a brief period, using ice after throwing or even a few times a day, anti-inflammatory medications and rehabilitation exercises. The rotator cuff exercises should initially be done below shoulder level and progressed to above shoulder level slowly. If the exercises hurt, then you are either doing them wrong or your body is telling you something. When the cause of the pain is overuse, it seems that the recovery is never as fast as you want, and patience by the athlete and coaches is difficult. How much time is given to recovery depends upon many factors.

let’s get real here for a minute, many many players in the Astro’s locker room can red this thread for motivation.

Forrest gets to read a couple of years of @Wulaw Horn blowing him. Where’s his motivation ?

Sit him for a month and then have him start back over the course of 2 or 3 weeks of rehab.

I’ll place o/u for July 4 at home against colorado

4 years + 2 days after his MLB debut in colorado

hopefully it truly is minor inflammation and it’s closer to 30 days than 60.

Per chandler Rome …..

Because of Thursday's off day, the Astros can proceed with a four-man rotation of Hunter Brown, Framber Valdez, Cristian Javier and Brandon Bielak, in that order, on regular rest until May 9. That would ostensibly be when they need to add another starter.

It’s the least of Chandler Rome’s problems, but holy fuck people overuse (and misuse, imo) the word “ostensibly”.
