Yeah sounds like it.

I’m betting if you asked ChatGPT what dog piss tastes like the answer would be “Beer with lemonade”

Expand

In Spain they mix half beer with half Lemon Fanta.  Pretty damn good.

We've been busy tonight so didn't get to watch, but nice to start off the homestand with what looked to be a pretty easy win

The bats were going with Alvarez and Pena out, so it was good to see some swinging and aggressiveness.

Is Altuve the worst baserunner in the league?  Can we get him to just stand on the fucking base and never try or even appear to try to steal?

Expand

He is/was good at stealing second.  What he has always been terrible at is being aggressive at the wrong times and usually gambling and losing when trying to stretch something.

LMJ announcement this afternoon. Expecting...."hey we are dumbasses and could have done surgery 8 months ago to expedite his healing process, but we waited until now so he will be out even longer"

Just not in those words

I just don't understand how we went from a nothingburger injury (according to LMJ and the team )so many months ago to this.

So a Yordan has/will have missed:

11% of the season in 2021

17% of the season in 2022

At least 30% if the season in 2023

Phenomenal hitter, but he’s big and stiff. Beginning to appear that he’s a perennial injury candidate, which likely gets worse with age.

He should only be a DH for the rest of his career to limit injury chances

So he’s going to be placed on the 30 day IL then?

Expand

There is no 30 day IL. It’s 10 or 60 days. I doubt they do that though unless the prognosis gets even worse and there’s no hope he can return prior to mid August.

Lots of speculation linking Bellinger to the Astros. Seems like it makes perfect sense with Alvarez out, can play GG level defense in CF and 1B. Adds another lefty bat to a lineup fill of righties. With him being a FA after the season it might not take a lot. Like Meyers and a 40 FV prospect.

The speculation started to pique after Brown basically said we need a Cody Bellinger type player on this team a few days ago.

he’s on a minor league rehab stint ?

We have been hit hard by the injury bug this year. Another reason why it's rare for teams to repeat. So far we're hanging around and playing through it, which is all you can do. Get healthy at the end of the season and make a run.

Way more concerned about the Yordan issue than LMJ, who I wasn't expecting to see much of this year.

How bad does an oblique strain have to be to take 6 weeks to heal?

Expand

The data showed that on average pitchers required 35 days to recover from an oblique injury and position players took on average 26 days to return. Though, it should be noted that variance was due to a pitcher’s build up being different to return to the mound. (4,6) The bad news is that if you were part of the 7.9% of players that received a cortisone or Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) injection, it set you back another 11 days on average. (4)

.....

Oblique injuries are very unique in that the re-injury rate is around 12% with about a third of them being in the same or following year4.  This makes it vital that the return to play protocol is designed with a slow progression and return to on field activities are not rushed in any way. Athletes can re-injure themselves with something as simple as the stationary bike.  In order to progress them into on field activities it is important that they demonstrate the ability to stabilize both statically and throughout a full ROM, furthermore they need to demonstrate the ability to rotate powerfully and decelerate effectively all without any restriction of any kind.

If you swing the bat as hard as Yordan you’re going to strain something if you don’t make contact.

I thought the entire thing about Yordan is he doesn't swing super hard in comparison to say Springer
