Arizona is playing for something too correct?

Yes.  It it’s highly possible that they have a playoff spot locked up before first pitch on Friday. Feel like if that happens they might hold their ace, or have him pitch 2 innings or something so he’s ready for their game one.
root against Miami tomorrow and Friday.

Good win, happy to see the bats alive tonight. Gonna need some of that vs the Dbacks. If we get lucky and the Dbacks win tomorrow, some losses by the cubs and marlins could make their games against the Astros meaningless to them.

Will know a lot more after tomorrow.

4 games left for them, cubs and marlins.
they are 2 up on the other two for the 5 seed and have the tiebreaker over the cubs but not the marlins. So only way they don’t make it is if the marlins and cubs go 3-1 and they go 1-3. (Or marlins and cubs 4-0 and 2-2)

Every Astro with a hit tonight

everyone except Altuve and Peña scored a run

everyone except Altuve, Bregman, Peña drove in a run

5 scoreless between Graveman, Neris, Abreu, Pressly

Thats the Astros I love. And one we haven’t seen nearly as much this year (instead waiting on one or two guys to carry the team to a win).

Keep is going

Give me the sweep and Mariners taking 3 of 4.

I don’t want give up the AL west crown (or play in an all bets are off 3 game series in Tampa or minnesota)

I'll allow it, but only if we can opt to play our home games on the road

at this point in the season, just win and survive.

we're the team everyone hates.

embrace it.

What if I hate some things about the club this season, say record at home, for example?

Given the results against the Royals, I'm not really longing for meaningless games against the Snakes, either.

Good thing both teams are fighting for playoff spots then

Told you fuckers

Let’s not start sucking each others dicks yet. The rangers magic number to win the division is 2. I predict that if they get one they will become way less interested in winning and if they get 2 they will likely lay down. We are probably going to still need to win 2/3 against the DBacks unless Seattle comes out and really fucks it up.

This thread has sure swung wildly based on one win.  We're sweeping now?  I'd cut your arm off to split the next two with Seattle.

Saw'em off.

I’m not losing hope for the division

we’ve seen this rangers team turn to shit at the flip of a switch.

root for DBacks and Braves win today and DBacks have clinched a spot.

Dusty was in 2022 postseason form tonight.

credit where credit is due

If Diaz isn't in the lineup this is false. There's simply no reason he's not your everyday catcher. He'd have 30 bombs and better defensively than Maldy at this stage of their careers

If you shoved a lump of coal up Pressly’s ass in 2 days you’d have a diamond.

Thanks Ferris

and this is why a lackluster 2023 is a blessing in disguise, 2024 with Dusty/Maldo gone and Diaz/Chas as fixtures - injury free Altuve and others. We'll be back.  Need to get Javier back to a better realm and dump Brown in the offseason.

This.  The Rangers are capable of driving into the wall on the final lap.

Even if they sweep the Rangers, they don't get in without the Astros shitting the bed.

we've done plenty of that lately, lucky we're on the road I guess

The Astros only have a 5.8% chance to win the division so our realistic rooting interest should be that the Rangers win today and tomorrow and we win on Friday to lock up a wild card spot. That way we don’t have to pitch JV on Saturday so he’ll be ready for the opener of the wild card round.

wouldn’t SEA win division if they sweep and we win 0 or 1 vs AZ?

I think that depends on whether TOR works itself into a tie with SEA and TEX or not.  2-way SEA/TEX tie favors TEX.  SEA wins 3-way IIRC.

Regardless, there's very little chance of AZ winning 2 or 3 against the Astros.  Their pitching staff is radioactive ass outside of Gallen and Kelly, who are currently scheduled for the first two games.  But those guys are getting scratched as soon as they clinch, which could be tonight.
