No idea if he's any good, but not many high school ballplayers built like this.

Nehomar Ochoa | Five Tool

Venezuelan born, he wants a path to the mlb. He’s probably 23 or 24

I was hoping Dusty Baker would pinch hit for Julio after Tucker walked and really piss off the Seattle fans (not sure if there were any bench players left though)

As a senior, he batted .602 with a .685 on-base percentage, 11 home runs, 27 steals and 50 RBIs.

😍😍😍😍

Great story of a young man overcoming the difficult odds of being only 6'4" 215 pounds with a mid-90s rocket arm. Brings tears to your eyes.

does make you wonder how his draft profile would have been affected if he was one of the Perfect Game gemstones.

He played 39 PG events. I'm sure growing up in a new country was difficult, but that story is seriously overselling the underdog angle. When you have his kind of talent you get scholarshipped into elite programs so they can sell to bigger numbers of parents of lesser talented kids.

He doesn't have a PG grade or full evaluation of their scouts because he wasn't in any of their showcases. I'm not informed enough to know why he wasn't--either because of circumstance/background or ability--but the greatest exposure to scouts is at those showcases.

Needs to be a good one.  Like top of the rotation good.

And if they can't strike a deal for one, figure out what's wrong with Javier and fix it.

Hopefully he is not hiding an injury.

Rumors from the IT Astros thread is Giolito. He's a FA after this season, so Gilbert, Melton, or Clifford shouldn't be involved.

Barber, Loperfido, Dezenzo, Arrighetti - probably our best bullets.

I’ll take more pitching but how can that be the number one priority when it’s our offense not producing as the number one reason we aren’t in first right now? We can never have too much pitching so I’m down for that but we need bats.

Because the offense won't matter if we don't have two starters who are pitching really well.  Frambler and Javier carried the team in the postseason last year.  Frambler is still pretty good, but Javier isn't even close to the same level.  Yordan and Altuve coming back will also go along way in helping the offense.  So will the end of stupid lineups if things go like last year.

Exactly this. The expectation that Javier and Brown would excel this year has not been met and unless they turn it around quickly, starting pitching becomes the priority at the trade deadline.

it’ll be interesting to see which ‘bats’ are traded at the deadline.

Start with Barber like the other 3 way too much.

Dude's going through a divorce.  He'll either pitch this second half with his hair on fire or be in a pit of despair.
