I would rather see him at DH than Julks, I'll tell you that.  He may run in to one every once in awhile if nothing else.

I gotta think Singleton will at least get a call up in September. After that it's up to him...he launches some no doubters and looks like Baby Yordan, he'll have a shot at being a bench bat in the playoffs.

Agree or nah?

Probably worth a shot?  We are getting nothing right now from Julks and we don’t have a left handed bat on the bench at all. I wouldn’t mind seeing against RHP this lineup some to see if it will work:

Diaz, Abreu Altuve Peña Bregman Yordan Chas Tucker and singleton at DH. I like that better than meyers or Julks or Dubon against RHP I think.

Hell he may be a disaster and suck ass

Julks had a really tough game a week or so ago.. He was in a small slump already, and hit like 4 balls on the screws that were caught by the OF.. I'm sure that's contributing to the mental aspect of his slump..

That being said, he can work out of it in AAA by playing EVERYDAY.. Singleton deserves a shot..

This. Now is the time to fuck around and find out if he can do better than a 650 OPS. Put him on the roster and swap him in whenever a game becomes a blowout. Give him a chance and see what he can do.

So pitchers like Maldonado.   That's fine, but hitting is kind of important.  Last time I checked,  he was hitting .166

He also allows the most passed balls and wild pitches while throwing out almost no one on the bases.

I’ve seen some tweets about them not bringing Singleton up because he has no options. But who cares? If he comes up and he sucks again like every other time, DFA him and be done. But if they are even thinking he’s a feasible option as a LH bat, they should find out sooner than later to make him playoff eligible. It would be found money for sure. The pragmatist in me says he is fools gold like before but the Disney movie in me says the fairy tale might be real.

I’ve never been able to find a site that gives reliable option information on players. Anyone know of such a place?

I don't know of one.  At first I thought there was no way Singleton still has options, but he's only been in the big leagues in parts of 3 seasons, so he might.

Spotrac has him with only .167 years of service time. But he’s almost 32 years old and was drafted in 2009.

God bless I love this thread.

Everyday is a new theme.

yesterday we replayed the Maldy sucks/ pitchers love him episode for the 1,000,000th time

today we get a new episode of a re-boot of a series that last aired in the Obama administration (re: Singleton).

MILB has his entire transaction history if someone wants to figure it out the hard way.

I fully expect him to suck, but it's better than watching anyone not named Yordan or Diaz at DH.

He was DFA'd by the Brewers and cleared waivers, and then he was signed as a free agent in June, so I don't think you can option a free agent.

If you bother to sign a guy years after your first failed run with him, and he then proceeds to wreck shop in AAA while you continue to have a need for another LH bat on the big club, why on earth would you not give him another shot? Because he's out of options? That's clinically insane. Even if Singleton slumps, he's still going to give you more power potential than Madris, Hensley, Kessinger, Meyers or Dubon. Bring him up.

GIvien his history, I don't think anyone has faith this time will be different.  It would different if he hadn't of sucked with the Brewers this season.

If he hadn’t sucked with the Brewers, he wouldn’t be here. If there’s no faith, what was the point of signing him and giving him regular ABs in Sugarland?

It doesn’t make sense to not give him a shot at this point.

he's a weird case though because he sucked so long ago and was probably brought up to the big leagues way before he was ready and now, at the age of 31, he's mashing AAA pitchers and pushing for another promotion. It's hard to draw too many conclusions from his most recent ML stint with Milwaukee because he only had like 29 AB before they DFA'd him because they needed a roster spot for Jesse Winker returning from the IL. He subsequently refused assignment to the minors and became a free agent.

The odds aren't great that he's anything but AAAA player, but who knows, maybe he's figured it out now that he's in his early 30's?

He had 32 PAs with the big club. Was pretty good with their AAA club

Well it still can't be worse than Julks, so just do it.

Why are y'all still talking about Singleton?  He's more than proved he can't hit ML pitching.

What are A.J. Reed and Tyler White up to?

They've all done more this year than Singleton ever has.

Well, not Madris but he's already gone.

They need to hurry and announce when JV is going to start. And if we’re going 6 man rotation or 5.

I’m in Detroit at the end of august and trying to triangulate when he might start …and tickets are starting to creep up for that series
