It also helps the rangers have guys that can actually hit the ball.

Catchers can't hit, this is Rangers C Austin Hedges.  Lifetime 0.188 with almost 2000 ABs, worse than Maldo right? This makes me appreciate Diaz 10x, maybe 25x

So- here are the expected stats for Yanier against LHP in 63 Pa. Note the expected stats of an 810 ops. Which is…. His actual ops overall. He isn’t bad at hitting LHP. He’s a bit unlucky in a very small sample size.

It doesn’t matter what YD does at the plate. Dusty isn’t ever going to start him over maldy in any big games down the stretch or the playoffs. I don’t care if he hit .800 and crushed a homer every game he would still say the pitchers want maldy.

Dusty fishing for excuses to not play Diaz. If his numbers improve against lefties, Dusty will make up some other bullshit reason.

Oh no doubt. We have a couple smart posters here @henrygandorffor example, say Diaz can’t hit LHP so I wanted to point this out.

i didn't say he can't hit lhp, i said his numbers are bad against lefties and we all know dusty will use that as an excuse.

i also said he needs to play more against lefties because he needs a bigger sample and because a batter like him should hit lefties well.

not sure why i got dragged into this.

Wasn’t dragging you in and was merely paraphrasing. Apologies if I read you wrong, I wasn’t aware if you had seen the actual X-stats.

yainer is bad against lefties.  that said, a hitter like him should be great against lefties.  at some point, he's gonna need some experience to get better there.  it's fine if it's not today, but it needs to happen.

This is what I was responding to. Saying he is bad against lefties and needs some experience to get better. The expected stats say he’s not bad and he doesn’t need to get better- just needs randomness to go away with more plate appearances. That was all I was saying. Me saying you were one of the smartest posters here was sincere 100%. Not a backhanded compliment and no sarcasm at all.

is bad = his numbers are bad.  and his actual numbers (stats) are bad, which is why dusty thinks he can't hit lefties.

the whole thing is stupid because even his shitass bad luck numbers vs lefties are similar to maldy's numbers against everybody.

Maybe Dusty knows it's his last season and after a half-century in baseball and a WS managerial title is just stubbornly determined to go out doing it "my way."

I do wonder if there is some behind the scenes power struggle going on right now. The lineups are all over the place every game, and I wonder if it's due to someone up top, like Dana, telling Dusty he has to do something each game, but then Dusty changes some other part of the lineup to show he's still the manager.

Dana didn't hire Dusty, he inherited him. I'm sure there are many things they don't agree on given their different backgrounds and approaches to the game. It will be very interesting to see what they do next year with Dana running the show (unless Crane oversteps).

I don’t think that’s the case here

brown has talked about line up discussions with dusty, dusty is making the calls. Brown is providing the pieces.

with one more year of altuve / bregamn / verlander, I 100000% expect dusty to get one more year. maldy, 50/50. too late in this run to bring in someone new, unless espada get the auto promote. I don't see them bringing in someone from outside the org with one year left with this group.

lot of baseball left in 2023. nothing is settled

This is probably true about Dusty coming back unless he wants to go fishing and work on his tulip garden full time

We have activated RHP José Urquidy from the Injured List and optioned LHP Parker Mushinski to Triple A Sugar Land. To clear a spot for Urquidy on the 40-man roster, we designated RHP Spenser Watkins for assignment.

Let's try this again. I understand why this game feels like the biggest of the season - it's the Yankees; a loss means we lose three of four to a last place team before heading to Baltimore; a loss means losing even more ground to Arlington if they win.

On the other hand, this game is one of 50, including three in Arlington.

Losing today would suck. Losing always sucks.
