That's 3 dominant outings in a row counting the 1 against the Astros at the last Spring Training game.  Brown said that they were very happy with him this spring and sending him down meant nothing.  If he's actually turned a corner and he's ready to be good, or better that is such a huge thing for the organization going forward.  Huge. We aren't there yet, obviously, but with each outing like this I'm becoming more and more excited.

Whitley will be a valuable trade piece, who are we going after ?

You'd literally have to be insane to trade Whitley right now.  Nobody is going to pay you anything approaching 10% of what his value would be if he hits- and it's looking more likely that he hits than at any time since 2018.  Its your investment for better or worse now.  Got to ride or die on it.  Call him up in July after Super 2 is done if his arm doesn't fall off between now and then or if he doesn't turn into a pumpkin  you have him then for 7 post season runs.

Damn straight. You just don't give up on special talent until you absolutely positively have to do so.  He's a special talent and will always be, even if he doesn't throw a pitch in MLB.

The thing is- if he hits as a TOR starter then you have so many more options/so much more payroll flexibility. If he and Brown and Javier are mowing fools down for a combined 35M in payroll 5 years from now you can easily afford to spend 10/300 on a Tucker extension this year.  Or extend Yordan for another 5/150 (that would be my next phone call).  Altuve isn't going to be really expensive at that time, Bregman is probably gone.  if you don't fuck around and spend 50M in the bullpen or something stupid then you can afford to pay the going rate for 4 all stars in their prime on the field, develop 2 or 3 guys that aren't prime yet but are good and fill in the other 2 spots and extend that championship window another 2 or 3 years.  That's what Whitley hitting would mean to the org.

Is it time to get him out of there?  Over 80 pitches.  Our bullpen has been so air tight- how can you not hand the ball to them right now with an off day incoming?

Maybe if they ever hand a lead to Pressly we can see how he does in his assigned role lol

Yall think this bullpen is bad?  My best friend is the skipper for Georgia state. They are 14-14 and a middle tier sun belt team.  So far they have been walked off or blown a lead of 5 runs or greater 9 times this year.  Can you even fathom trying to live through that groundhog day? He thought they were going to be really good this year.  They probably would have been if he didn't have 4 of his top 7 pitchers go down for the year.

Perspective. This Astros bullpen should not be like that this year. I expect today to be smooth sailing and establish many more trips like that which will be a piece of cake.

Looking good so far, but let's not forget that Pittsburgh is one of the worst teams in the league. Maybe this series is the slumpbuster the team needed to wake up for the Rangers series.
