Barr needs to face a firing squad …

But everyone has been saying that the justice system hasn't been favoring trumpco and it's just due process and not an intentional delay!!! This is unpossible!!! It's inconceivable that elements of our justice and prosecutorial system are deeply compromised and operate in bad faith to realize a political outcome that favors an unlawful fascistic overthrow of democratically elected authority!

Ah, the classic “But Nixon did it, too” defense.

Imagine if this was a valid defense.

Judge, "Mr. Bundy, how do you please to these 30 counts of murder?"

Ted, "Look Manson did it too, and in a far worse way."

lol, Eric thinks this is a fucking field trip

You know for a second, Eric was thinking, "Holy shit, there's another plane out there that looks exactly like Dad's plane.  Whoah!", until he read the bottom.

The only thing more criminally American would be if O.J. had a smart phone and was watching his own police chase on the foxnews app as it happened.

Doesn't this make him an obvious flight risk? The man has his own 757. Put him in Rikers just to be safe.

He also took the 5th when he was on the stand.

You have to wonder if he just bought the sticker or that it says Roils Royce if you look closely.

Maybe Eric will insist on piloting the plane, and all this will settle itself.

Wonder if another liberal big city D.A. is gonna protect criminals over society and give this indicted suspect a low bail and no travel restrictions?

(checks notes) Oh wait, that's exactly what they're hoping for.  Good thing Chicos Bail Bonds-lower Manhattan's location reopened last week.

RR RB211 is one of the engines used on the 757.

There's only two major players for plane engines that big - GE and RR. Pratt and Whitney used to be one but really, anything commercial made by Airbus or Boeing these days and it has a GE or RR power plant. His plane likely has RR, legitimately.

Watching the plane at the NYC airport and the 10 black SUV’s, plus police vehicles, ambulances, and people coming off the plane getting into them and thinking - That one night with Stormy…was it worth all this Don?

You see, it was kind of a joke about Trump's phoniness. I know RR makes engines for aircraft. Roils Royce would be like the Omigra Watch.

Quote

On 20 July 1909, Wilsdorf registered “Omigra.” This looks suspiciously like Omega, a name that was well known and prestigious when the name Rolex still new and unknown.

If Rolls Royce didn't make jet engines, the joke would not make sense as well as, evidently, not being funny.

ironically it wasn't the night with Stormy that got him into this mess - it was the attempt to cover it up with campaign money (allegedly). Nobody who voted for him or supports him cares that he banged a porn star (cheating on his wife in the process).

I hope he jumps bail, leaves the country and never returns. I'd be OK with that.

Obviously abandoning all of his griftees, who will immediately claim he had to do so to avoid the deep state US government and he will make a triumphant return at the right time.

That's just fucking stupid.

There's no double jeopardy for state and federal prosecutions.

I don't really doubt that SDNY might have deked local prosecutors, but that isn't why.

I also seem to recall that the US Attorney for SDNY was not particularly Trump-aligned (in fact he quit when they told him to stop investigating Rudy), and it was SDNY that threw the gratuitous Stormy Daniels counts in the Cohen information, as well.  I don't believe those counts served any real purpose other than to make Trump look bad, and maybe to force Cohen to cooperate on them.

He would lead a MAGA army from exile.  We need a televised trial with the government's evidence and Trump's defense being presented to the public in real time without anyone of any ideology having the ability to provide a narrative interpretation of events for their audience.  If it's a sham trial with no merit, I'll be the first to call for the dismantling of the weaponized judicial system.

All this focus on Trump just such basic Republican playbook stuff.  Get outraged about this while the Repubs focus on school board and local stuff and putting God back in the classrooms.

Hypnotize Dems with Trump.  Focus on school boards and local elections.  Profit.

If Dems put their efforts into only the most local politics, the Repubs would never have been able to show their true colors.

Yeah, I'm more inclined to think Cy Vance didn't prosecute because he was dirty and Trump had leverage on him.

My understanding is that Vance was primarily focused on making a criminal case out of James' financial fraud civil case as exemplified by his subpoenaing Mazars for tax returns and business records.  By June 2021, at the latest, he was a lame duck and probably didn't want to commence a case as a lame duck.  James didn't even file her civil case until September 2022.

Anyone else old enough to remember Gary Hart getting caught in an affair? He was launched into the sun and never heard from again. Trump actually fucking a porn star isn't/wasn't even a scandal. He could have talked openly about it in October of 2016 and still won the election.

I don't much care about that either. His Christian followers should likely quibble.

I just want a dog in the pack to nip that hamstring so the other dogs can descend upon him. I want the cover of legality if we can get it. If we can't, I don't much care what means are used to destroy him.

Feeling fatalistic about the future doesn't mean I don't want to see the fuckers bringing it down escape horror.

I recall there being an issue with how New York treats double jeopardy.  It's been a long time since I looked at it, though.

ETA: quick google turned this up.

From the NYCLU legislative memo opposing recent legislation to close double jeopardy loophole:

"After the Supreme Court undermined constitutional double jeopardy protections by introducing the concept of dual sovereignty, permitting successive state and federal prosecutions based on the same crime, New York wisely adopted strong statutory double jeopardy protections superseding dual sovereignty and prohibiting 'a second prosecution if the defendant has been once tried by another government for a similar offense.'”

Actually, yes, I think you may be right on that.  As a general proposition, there is no double jeopardy between the "dual sovereigns," but according to NY law there may be.

Yeah, this.  Half of 'em already think JFK JR. is alive and running a government in exile.  And that guy's been dead for almost 25 years.  They'll actually see footage of Trump's plane taking off for some other country and he can still proof of life videos holding up that day's paper of Qatari Daily Herod.  He'd be able to grift the fuck outta that.  Because a great deal of his assets domestically will be frozen.  Same thing happens when he dies, half will believe he was murdered by the deep state.  The other half will think he's still alive and running MAGA nation from an underground golf course.  The one thing we know is he won't see the inside of a jail cell.  Because there's no way his most adamant supporters can square that one (as opposed to fleeing/dying) with their reality.  You can't film videos, raise money, and run a government in exile...even the stupid ones know that.  So that will never come to pass because they only way they reconcile that with their stupidity is mass, widespread violence across the whole country.

But in the case of fleeing "for business purposes/to avoid the deep state's witch hunt", or the inevitable case of death.  We're still stuck with about 25mm of his truly moronic base.  The others will move on to the next thing.  Either way, at least Trump himself is physically gone from my country and cannot be President or start insurrections ever again.  And that's a huge first step.  The other 25mm will be dead soon enough.  And our children will be stuck alongside theirs.  And around and around we go...

Apparently the law passed in 2019 but I think it only applies to Presidential pardons.
