What a fucking day!

We wake up to news that Pat Robertson is dead.

And then the Supreme Court told us that the VRA is actually still a thing.

Then we get to see a Russian get eaten by a fucking shark (which was really fucking metal, BTW).

And now an indictment?

Christ almighty, at this rate I half expect to get a blowjob tonight.

Hey…..5 out of 6 ain’t bad!

So the boxes were at Penn, then chinatown, now at University of Delaware?  Is he just marking spots on a map with a sharpie?  Oh shit, he literally is doing that.  Best to re-elect him and give him the nuclear football.

Well, it's nice to see @blacklab is approximately as fascist as we expected, given the quick trigger on @Beau Vine's DT thread.

I have no reason to believe this will happen, but wouldn't it be something if he is granted home confinement by the judge and then immediately rearrested and flown to DC to indicted for Jan 6, then remanded?  Now that would be a good day.

A President of the United States of America has been indicted for espionage.  That thing where you sell out your country for personal gain which causes imminent physical h arm to the people you are sworn to protect.  That is not news woman, Okay!  There is nothing happening here!  It's just some misplaced financial papers!

Espionage sounds serious.  How serious is that?  Someone explain that to me before Twicehorn comes in and says it's not that bad (j/k Twice).

When espionage is charged, isn’t the target normally taken into custody and jailed?

not giving him credit for Jack Smith's W

Well, Garland was never ever going to investigate/prosecute the cases himself.

He was stuck with the US Attorney for the District of Columbia, augmented by whatever other jurisdictions or Main Justice players wanted to get involved.

Garland appointed Jack Smith.  He didn't appoint any of the other DOJ employees.

To the extent any Attorney General can take credit for any federal prosecution, Garland can take credit for this.

Not espionage. The Espionage Act is where the classification laws are established, but that’s the extent of the connection

That is correct.  It is espionage-y, though.  A pretty fair number of spies have violated 18 USC 793.  A pretty fair number of non-spies have also.

He will not be taken into confinement.  The idea, as we've discussed, is to draw him into a series of court appearances and depositions for the four cases against him.  That, combined with the debate, fundraising, and primary rigor.  The overall calendar for an obese 78 year old.  He will die in the Summer or Autumn of 2024 from it all.  That's the play.  You are going to watch, in real time, the former President of the United States/current GOP nominee for POTUS die.  You'll tell your children about it.  And we will celebrate like the we invented sunshine.  The exhaustion of all of this, even for his self-absorbed ass, will prove too much.  We get to watch him literally drop dead.  This is going to be more beautiful than you can possibly fathom.

Former President charged with espionage is not something I ever expected to see in my lifetime.  The future of this country will be determined by 12 random people in Florida.

So is the espionage charge confirmed/official?  Because that sounds potentially serious.  If true, it would seem like the best case scenario for Trump is Watergate.  Worst case… the Rosenberg’s?

I’m sure Trump will display the same decorum and humility as you’d expect from anyone being detained under such serious charges.

If there were real espionage crimes charged here, that is, working for another country against our interests like Hanssen or Ames, then those defendants are always flight risks.  So, yeah, real "espionage" defendants get pretrial detention.  Trump won't.

Why the real "espionage" distinction?  If trump's isn't "real", why are they charging him?

But selling secrets to Saudis totally doesn't count as espionage because.....?

And here’s the thing…if he actually reaches a point where he really thinks he might go to prison…he will absolutely flee the country.

He’s a flight reward, not risk.

Step 1: Trump flees to some foreign country willing to accept his pathetic, malignant ass

Strp 2: Trump hype machine gens up and lures the rubiest rubes to said foreign paradise

Step 3: Profit
