Guess we can take Bill Clinton's impeachment off the books now.

I can guarantee in the next year or so both of Trump's impeachments will be taken off the books along with any case or bad thing ever said about him.  History books in the future will talk about how Trump alone created and succeeded in the casino, steak and pro football business.  How the popularity of the USFL lead by Trump is why the NFL is what it is today.

Biden should use his newly granted 'if the president does it, it is not a crime' superpowers and de-classify all of the evidence so we can see where the nuclear secrets were sold.

Those powers won’t apply to a Dem president

Ladies and gentlemen, a New York Times reporter goes out on a limb:

image.png.9051dfd67d23916597b54175438d821e.png

I will guess without actually checking that CNN and the rest of the mealy-mouths who dare not declare what they can see will round up the political panel and talk about the most important aspect of this story: Will this give Trump a big boost?

They'll have a few guys come on and talk about the danger to the republic. They'll pat Raskin's head and then move to the presidential horse race.

A criminal president installed crooked judges throughout the federal system even up to the Supreme Court enabling him to elude profoundly damaging criminal prosecution for stealing state secrets, showing them to foreigners, and hiding them from legal searches. And that's likely not as big a story as Trump refusing to accept his election loss and using various nefarious means to bully election officials or introduce fake electors.

And that's not as big a story as inciting an insurrection to overthrow the election by force. Who is getting the most political contributions, Wolf?

Yes, who is getting the buggy whip vote, you idiots?

I couldn't agree more with those saying Biden should publish the evidence against Trump. This is no longer the football game with rules inside the stadium. This is a war outside the stadium rendering the game inside irrelevant. Stop twiddling your thumbs waiting for kickoff, Dems. Go to the war before it comes to you.

What has come to be known as "the right" declared war on everybody else decades ago. We were complacent counting on law and the system and the naive notion that deep down we're all the same.

We're not. I'm shocked to be writing any of this.

By far, Trump is the luckiest guy on earth. Everything has fallen into place for him since the debate. Plus he’s running against the weakest candidate since he ran against Hillary. Time magazine said he is going to win the Presidency. We as a country are so screwed.

Stocking institutions with sycophant hacks who will make knowingly awful decisions that they know are illegal and may be overturned is part of the wannabe autocrat’s handbook worldwide.  In fact, the more grossly terrible and ring-kissing the decision, the better, because it continues to butter up people to accept that all levels of institutions and governments are theaters for the endless political warfare that are a hallmark of the authoritarian’s rule.

Aileen Cannon has done her job, the only one she was ever meant to do.  It was unclear whether she’d be called on, but she was.

The moment every Trump judge realized that the way to compete for the next Republican SCOTUS appointment was to write the most transparently bullshit and insane opinions is when American law effectively died.

I can't even begin to imagine what insane shit James Ho, Kyle Duncan, Matt Kacsmaryk, etc. are cooking up now as they hope to try to jump back ahead of Cannon in the rankings.

Thinking about the future of an imperial Trump presidency following the Project 2025 script with very few Constitutional constraints per our corrupt SCOTUS, I got to thinking about Abbott's effort several years back to hold a second Constitutional Convention for a rewrite. Was Abbott coordinating that with GQP governors from other states? Is that still a thing?

Because if so, imagine the horrors of a new Constitution rewritten in Trump world.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh. The 11th Circuit will shut her down, but then SCOTUS to the rescue. Fuck it all.

Absolutely grasping at straws here, but I had basically zero faith anything substantial would come out of this case to begin with.

Once they decided to try the case in Florida, Trump was virtually guaranteed to have a favorable judge or at least one jury member who wouldn't vote to convict him of anything.

Then, assuming a minor miracle did occur and he was found guilty, the appeals process drags on well past the election and nobody was going to change their mind in November because of another conviction.

Anything other than the election is shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.  And that includes the house/senate races.  We spend 99% of the time focused on Biden vs. Trump but strategies for retaking the house or holding the senate needs to get more attention.

Trump will absolutely lean on one or more current conservative justices to retire so he can nominate nice young Nazis.

Dumb question but was this ruling always going to come down today?

I ask because it’s weirdly timed to come out when all the newsy news will be covering the assassination attempt and not this. Kind of like sneaking shit in on a Friday afternoon

They don’t have to hide it or bury it in the news because they know it makes no difference, people are actively supporting this across all levels of society.

It's stunning how mind-bogglingly bad Democrats are at politics.

You're the one who keeps telling everyone Biden cannot be pushed out of this race, it's up him and only him.

So why should Sotomayor be pushed off the bench? It's up to her.

Maybe both of them are being stubborn as hell.   Apply your same standard.

her clerks/Federalist Society/Heritage Foundation started drafting that bad boy the day after the case was filed.  they were just waiting for Thomas's concurrence to fill in that cite.

today was the perfect day to release it.  when Trump has as much sympathy as he'll ever have from the American people after being shot at.

Sotomayor should step down to ensure a Democrat can name her replacement.

That's smart politics.

Also, I think Biden gives Democrats the best chance of winning. If I didn't, I'd want him off the ticket.

It would take, what, two D or I senators to vote against to scuttle the nomination?  Are we sure Kyrsten and Joe wouldn't do that?  I'm not.

No, but I'd rather Biden make that nomination now. Who knows what the Senate or White House will look like on January 20.

So what’s the strategy here? Work to get this case dismissed (current) or at least get the DOJ to prosecute it? That makes it easy for trumps AG to kill it. If it’s special counsel, the AG has to work to get rid of a special counselor/prosecutor.
