Habba was already paid in advance IIRC.

Remember the lawyers are being paid by the various PACs (MAGA, Save America PAC, etc.) so this isn't a Rudy situation for these guys - none are taking the work unless the money is up front or not coming directly from Trump.

Rumor is these entities paid over $50 million in legal fees last year alone

Save America PAC is in especially dire financial straits.

There's some graft going on there, I guarantee. How can he have spent $50MM if he doesn't pay his lawyers?

Did he actually fire habba? I mean she’s out of her element period in a court room but appellate work is specialized from my loose grasp of attorneying

Yep she's never had full responsibility for any of his cases before now, someone else has always first chaired trials and handled appeals. In Carroll I it was Mr Bob Dobalina Taco Pina. But Blanche signed the appeal brief.

What governs what pacs are allowed to pay?  Why should they be able to pay for personal legal bills unrelated to a campaign?

why even more should they (can they) pay for legal bills against a company that a candidate has ownership of, that is unrelated to a campaign?

Unrelated to the campaign? Have you somehow not been made aware of the “ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!”?

Maybe Trump should use a larger font on the all caps and more exclamation points. People obviously aren’t getting the message.

Maybe, maybe not. The Trump PACs are paying legal bills. The RNC is broke as a joke. The Trump campaign is sucking up all the donations, which then go to legal fees

Depends on platform and complexity.  They may not be able to afford the fancier targeted advertising of years past, as well as the higher profile TV spots.  Blasting out cheap ads on social media is not going to help them either, as the catturd2’s have already made up their minds, and they’ll be advertising to a lot of bots.

Down ballot advertising could be where it really hurts them.  If you are a local politician, you may have to do it all on your own, and with fewer resources.

What makes you say that? If nothing else, as i think someone else linked, Biden is flush and is already buying adtime for the back half of 2024, eating up all the available ad slots.

Empirical evidence, basically.  The front running R candidate has never wanted for advertising funds.  Make that into a cult leader that has 100,000,000 salivating to give him everything down to their SNAP benefits and I do not foresee a future where it is September 1 of this year and Trump says "I wish we could reach more folks, but I just don't have the ability."

Dude, I understand your point, but that chart tells a wildly different story to me than it does to you. The guy at the top, who got the lions share, is now at zero and operating at about zero month to month thanks to legal fees. The rest of those #s dramatically get smaller, and fast, the more you go down the list, and all the ad slots are being bought up by Biden...and all the Pro Biden PACS. Can they get money, sure? But what time are they going to buy if it's already paid for and off the market?

You may have saved up enough for a down payment on a home, but what do you do when there isn't any inventory?

Something else to consider - that $80+ million judgment isn't going to pay itself. Trump has to either get a bond (LOL no) or front the entire amount pending appeal.

Remember that he didn't do a bond for the $5 million judgment - he paid the entire amount.

That $80 million is going to need to come from somewhere...

I'm guessing a PAC can't pay for a judgement legally...?

is the huge R money (Koch and whomever) really going to sit out on trump, or will it find him once he’s the nominee because he’s better for business than Biden in their estimation?  Would that actually be their position?

The president is not immune as the office of the presidency is an office. The 14th amendment applies.

However, we feel as if the circumstances of the 1860's are hard to apply here and one could argue that the constitution is a living and breathing document in the particular case unlike every other case we rule on.
