By all means, do tell.

Because you're afraid.

None of the prosecutors in any Trump case (MaL documents, Stormy, J6, the rape case, George) are going to bring charges without a solid case.  Anything can happen (see: Simpson, OJ and Anthony, Casey) but YOU HAVE TO DO IT.  If you don't you've lost already and you deserve it for being a pussy.

I also know that you haven't been paying attention because you haven't noticed that Trump has maxed out at 30%ish in support.  They are all in and TexAgs level crazy, but the suburban women have deserted him.  Why?  They're sick of the Handmaiden Tale come to life and weekly school shootings.

There are some dangers out there (the republican state legislatures taking votes out of voters hands and just voting how they see fit is the main one) but Trump is going to get smoked in the general, as will Meatball Ron.

You should feel the way you did a week before the 2005 OU game (if you're one of us).

I said "he has been fading away in influence and stature", and you say I'm not paying attention because he maxed out at 30% support.  Brilliant.

Before you confidently declare Trump is going to get smoked in the general, take a look at your 401k or IRA. You think Biden is secure?

No NYPD cop lives in NYC, cept maybe Staten Island and outer Queens, LI.

I think they know Trump in the outlying areas too. You can live in Jersey and commute into the city for work and you still know what kind of a POS Donald Trump is and that he’s not the character he portrays on his reality tv show.

Does the membership hold a vote on who the union endorses? I don’t know how attitudes have changed since the 2020 election. Clearly Joe Biden hasn’t been out to “defund the police.” I’m not sure what their view on Eric Adams is. It’s a little bit strange to justify their endorsement for a presidential candidate because they don’t like their state and local leadership. But I think defending their endorsement is at least a tacit acknowledgement that they’ve got something to defend.

That doesn’t make them MAGA, which is what was suggested, and I’m not sure what it says about the rank and file. The article says, “PBA President Patrick Lynch says regardless of endorsements, police will do their jobs to keep New Yorkers safe.” Trump is indicted and we should expect NYPD to do their jobs.

Staten Island really is a very strange and unique place in America.  I don't think Texans appreciate how odd it is.

What would be the Texas equivalent of Staten Island?  Longview, maybe?  I dunno.  Not judging.  Just coming down off a 12-hour quaalude high and reading that apparently Donald Trump has been indicated.

Why are you hating on the DA when you haven’t the slightest fucking clue what the charges are - and apparently still think this is about paying off strippers?

Maybe wait until they unseal the indictment and we find out exactly what the fuck they’re talking about regarding charges?

And Jesus, knowing who Cohen is just makes you Rocko smart.  If “fading away” means the front runner for the GOP nomination, then you nailed it.

He’s obviously a Gary Johnson (wink) supporter.

It's incredibly naive to think the police forces in the USA are not overwhelmingly MAGA-GQP. Same with the rank-and-file military and likely many of the top generals/admirals. MAGA-GQP fascism did not begin with Trump or Fox News. Been building for 40+ years.

It began with Ronnie Raygun, his astrology-loving wife, and the army of warrior Bible thumpers! And the police and military top brass loved that Ronnie Raygun, ready to zap the commies and pinko liberals from atop his horse in California.

Overwhelmingly? Nah. There’s no evidence that that’s true. Certainly not at the Capitol on Jan 6. Not from what we know of the military. There’s some but they’re not in the majority. The military has warned of the threat of white supremacists in their ranks and they’re studying the issue but so far I haven’t heard of them representing more than a relatively small number of their membership.

What of the members of the NYPD who are MAGA, regardless of their numbers? What are they going to do? Go on strike? Stop Trump from facing trial? Free him if he’s convicted? Did they protest outside Trump Tower on Tuesday last week when Trump said he’d be arrested? What exactly is the concern. I don’t think they make up a large percentage of the NYPD. But what if I’m wrong and you’re right? What does that mean? What are we afraid of?

SIGNS AND PORTENTS

From Saturday Down South, March 30, 2023

Texas A&M baseball streaker at Texas game reportedly a student-athlete for Aggies

Texas A&M hosted Texas on the baseball diamond Tuesday evening, but the game was briefly interrupted in the top of the 5th inning after a man wearing a Darth Maul mask, no shirt, and the phrase “Trump 2024” painted on his chest climbed down onto Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park and ran through the infield carrying a sign that read “Longhorns suck” before briefly exposing his buttocks.

He then made his way back to the outfield wall, took 2 attempts to clear the fence, and was later arrested on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct/exposure.

Well, as has been pointed out numerous times around here, he paid her to go away.

Come to think of it, I guess I know zero deets on the actual encounter, other than he has a smol peen.  Paid for?  Do we know how much?

I'm not supporting him, I wish he would exit the national stage and be gone. And to a large degree he has been fading away in influence and stature.
But fuck this DA who filed the charges. He will probably NOT get a conviction out of this; this is not a fucking slam dunk. (Yes, I know who Michael Cohen is).   An acquittal or dismissal of charges has the potential to re-energize and re-build Trump's base.
I do NOT want Trump to get the GOP nomination and neither do you, because a fucking choice between Trump and Biden may not go the way you want it to.

So appease the right wing extremist base is the strategy, Neville?
Ignore the rule of law and allow some to exist above it?

Doesn’t seem like a path to a sustainable democratic republic.

The only real certainty is that the Republican party will abuse dishonestly the rule of law in order to truly weaponize the Justice system at the state level.  They will use actual prosecution of law breaking by Donald Trump as justification for their future illegal and immoral actions.

If you doubt this, look at how the GOP stacked the Supreme Court with a series of dishonest and unprincipled machinations to allow the minority party to place minority view radical justices affirmed by the smallest confirmation margins ever, in exactly the opposite processes based on "principles."  Pretending there are ANY principles the Republican party is both stupid and dangerous.  We have a Republican party now devoid of principles and allergic to facts.  And to be honest we have never seen this sort of danger in the United States.  If you are a student of history and know that the term "brown shirts" means, you will understand how a situation in another country in the late 1930's preceding the darkest moments in the history of the world.

I think the bigger point is that this is the first, and most likely least consequential, of several indictments coming down the pike.

GOP-  "A prosecutor that declines to prosecute the law of the land is an activist and should be fired!  (see Florida Andrew Warren case)

Also GOP-  "Not declining to prosecute Trump just cause he broke the law of the land is activist and the prosecutor should be fired!"

Yes, at least as secure as any politician can be. And very secure relative to the current crop of GQP bozos.

100%.   And every single Republican - including all the "never Trumpers" and the ones who say they won't vote for him if is the nominee - will vote for him without a second thought.

I really get tired of Trump supporters trotting out the stock market bullshit.  Your boy Trump is directly responsible for the shit happening right now due to regulations he gleefully rolled back.  Fuck off.

That is a slaver's mentality.  They knew it was wrong but they were making money, so....the rest was just common sense suppression.  Restrict their eduction, for God's sakes don't let them vote, and sell Christianity the whole way.
