We don’t see everything or know everything.  Maybe Clark is a jerk teammate? Racist?  Bully?  Could be a lot going on behind scenes

Yeah, those four years at Iowa and traveling amateur teams...I remember all those social media posts about how mean and racist she was put up her teammates.  That thing they had 5 years to report on, and possibly monetize.  But didn't because apparently they didn't happen.

Caitlin:  "It's just a part of basketball," she told reporters. "It is what it is. Just trying to make a play on the ball and get the block. It happens."

Reese offered a similar take on the situation.

"It was a basketball play. I can't control the refs. They affected the game obviously a lot today," she told reporters. "I'm always going for the ball. Y'all are going to play that clip 20 times before Monday."

Upgrading the call to a flagrant 1 was clearly the right call. Reese may have been making a natural basketball play, but she made clear contact with Clark's head in the process.

Nice to see Clark and Reese with fair comments on the hard foul.  Flagrant 1 and move on...

It's on the border, but would have gone a long way to discourage that type of foul.

She wound up and went violently across the head -- there was an opportunity to call a flagrant2

That type of foul happens literally all the time.   Its never called a 2.

This was far more intentional and was called a 1

Again, more intentional and worse outcome with Green being in the air and taking a very hard fall.   Flagrant 1.   The announcers even downplay it saying it used to just shoot FTs and play on.

I'll take the loss, and accept Flagrant 1 😋

Just remember, intent is not a required element for flagrant 2 foul.

By the letter of the rule it isnt.  Its most of the time the deciding factor in going from a 1 to a 2.   Action before and after are almost always taken into consideration.   Also if its not really a basketball play.  The play by Reese was indeed a basketball play she was trying to get the block, CC moved the ball out farther in front and Reese got her in the head.   It happens often on that type of block from behind/overhead.

Constant examples where it was called a 1.   Most worse than the foul today.

This one from last week was pretty intentional.   Elbow right to the side of the face.   Had both hands on the ball and making a post move so you could kinda call it a basketball play.  Still a 1

To be fair, this is just written off as competitiveness when its a guy doing.   Kobe, MJ, etc all were assholes to teammates at various points in their careers.

Just stop. A slow, undersized woman would get worked every fucking time down the court on defense. Her vertical is probably around 12-15 inches. The two games are so fundamentally different, she would look like a toddler out there. The first charge she took from a 6'10 power forward would probably end her season. Flat earthers make more sense than this bullshit.

It’s a different sport and there is nothing wrong with that. Find a way to make it entertaining.

Why does Ja Morant sell more jerseys than Nikola Jokic?  Ja plays in a very small market and actually hasn’t really played in the last two years?

like Asia Wilson, most people believe that Joker is the best player in their league

I wonder what Ja Rule thinks of the Caitlin Clark controversy.....and why do people care about his opinion more than some many other more successful rappers?

WNBA great rips media outlets over Angel Reese coverage after flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark: 'Nasty work'

Swin Cash, a three-time WNBA champion and four-time WNBA All-Star, called out the media for its coverage of Angel Reese’s flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark during their matchup Sunday

"To have the only highlight of Angel be that foul is nasty work by these outlets," Cash, who is currently an executive with the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA, wrote on X. "U know what you're doing while also questioning her intent is nonsense! They got it right, it was a flagrant 1 it was called by the refs & the players played on."

Cash then offered her support for Reese and told the WNBA rookie to keep her head up.

"Smh Keep Pushin & Competing Angel," the Basketball Hall of Famer added.

It’s an interesting story. Reese and Clark are both rookies with heralded college careers. The WNBA “accepted” each in a different manner. People aren’t going to stop noticing, especially if it’s Reese that fouls Clark.

If Reese continues to be dumb with her comments, my guess is that Reese will wear out her welcome among the other players, while Clark keeps her head down and earns the respect.

The difference is Reese acts classless and keeps running her mouth. Caitlin stays quiet, doesn't let that bullshit bother her, concentrates on the game and lets the actions on the court speak for themselves.

Reese is catty and seems to be obsessed with Caitlin. Caitlin’s responses to all of the petulant shit is “it’s basketball “.  Takes the high road

If you do more talking than producing then that's always a problem in any sport and is gonna wear on people. If she was putting up 30/15 she could say anything she wants. But she's a rookie, same as Clark, and is talking like she's not, or like she's putting up big numbers, which she's not.

She needs to refocus on her improving her game, and with doing what she can to make her own team better, instead of focusing on a popularity contest that she will never win.

Lots of peeps on X are upset at this dirty play by clark

Players do it all the time to draw fouls.   She was getting fouled on the reach and just locked on to the defenders arm.   I wont call it dirty but it could be dangerous locking on to someone's arm like that.    That said, if you watch whenever CC dribbles with a defender near her she basically stiff arms to keep the defender from taking the ball.   Its a reason for some of the dustups that she gets into.   Constant pushoffs never being called offensive fouls will eventually result in defenders just grabbing her and having words.

Disagree -- Reese is having a quality rookie season too.  Her numbers are great for a rookie.

Some of yall cant see anything without a CC bias.   Reese's teammates LOVE her.  They loved her at Maryland.  They loved her at LSU.   Her energy and effort on the court is absolutely something that teammates will always love.  Having someone that will battle non-stop on the court and stand up for herself and her teammates off it is always going to endear someone to their teammates.

Reese is a dumb fucking bitch of the highest order who cries foul when she loses but wants to be a bully when she wins.

They’re aligned.  They all hate Caitlin Clark.  If you can’t be Caitlin you may as well ride the wave and be her adversary

It's good for the WNBA to have great player battles that fans watch like Reese vs CC.  It's one of the things that could help grow their league.

  • Magic vs Bird
  • Jordan vs Isaiah
  • Shaq vs Olajuwon
  • Duncan vs LeBron
  • LeBron vs Steph

Which is true.  There are plenty of people watching for her as well as many others.   She also went on to say.....

"Like, it’s just not ’cause of one person. A lot of us have done so much for this game.  There are so many great players in this league that deserved this for a really long time”
