We Need To Talk About Kevin

That scene where she eats scrambled egges with the broken shells in them was disturbing.

Do you think that scene is worse than

Spoiler

when she walks in on him jacking off and he makes eye contact with her the whole time?

Lol.

First of all, I read that as you coming out as a freshman.

Secondly, I also picked the wrong movie to take my (eventual) college sweetheart (also from Kingwood) to on our first date - Schindler's List.  She cried for 5 straight hours. Well done Knox.

I read the plot of A Serbian Film online when it was brought up in a conversation like this and felt awful for days and wish I hadn’t.  I am not sure I could be friends with someone that actually watched it.

Apparently someone's not into newborn porn

Isn't that how we all asserted dominance over our moms?  Right?  Right guys?   Guys?

I downloaded the book this is based on before I saw the movie. Was so fucked up I almost put it down and then found out it was based on a true story.

“Why The Girl Next Door's True Story Makes The Movie Harder To Watch”

https://screenrant.com/girl-next-door-movie-true-story-harder-watch/

Doesn't look that bad to me.

It was one of those things people talked about then dudes would dare their friends to watch. Since I was the only one I knew who had a jailbroken phone with popcorn time way back in the early days of streaming I was requested to host said activity.

Of course there's the shock value but it's poorly made and cheesily done. It feels about as real as the Evil Dead movies. Just another poorly made exploitation film, and the thing I found most disturbing is the director/writer said it's an allegory to the state of Serbian cinema and the fact Serbian media is funded by the EU to push projects that depict Serbian remorse over the Yugoslavian war.

Well yeah you tone deaf cunt, your people attempted to commit genocide against your neighbors. You're lucky you didn't get split up like Germany and made to suffer far worse than the EU wanting you to feel shame. You should have been gutted and dragged into extreme poverty.

i'm not sure how A Serbian Film can be anyone's favorite anything.

Yeah, the op wasn’t asking “what’s the most fucked up movie you’ve seen,” which has been covered here annually, anyway.

Just read about it having never heard of it. I feel disgusting and need like 4 showers now.

I agree with your sentiment about being friends with someone who enjoyed that.

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover.

Mulholland Drive

Tampopo

I’d say a John Waters movie, but I don’t care for any of them.

Trainspotting is my favorite of fucked up films.

I like all of those (and most John Waters) but none are as fucked up as Omniboat, a Fast Boat Fantasia by the guys who just won everything at the Oscars.

Human Centipede. My then fiance and I watched it. Regretted it.

Yeah. Ummm. This is favorite fucked-up movie, not most fucked you've ever seen.

Try this test: Did you regret seeing the movie? Then it's not your "favorite."

That's why I nominated Dancer in the Dark. Absolutely fucked up movie... but so glad I saw it, even though I never want to again.

This is going to be somewhat tonally in keeping with @blacklab's Sweet Hereafter pick, but I'll nominate Never Let Me Go.

I don't know that I would call it "fucked up", but I also don't know that I wouldn't--it's definitely haunting and I never want to re-watch it despite it being 100% violence and gore free.  Partly I don't need to re-watch it because too much of it seems stuck in my head.

What might make it fucked up would be to spoil the film but it's an Alex Garland screenplay adapting from a Kazuo Ishiguro story (so somewhat science fiction meets British dystopia) and Andrew Garfield's performance was the best thing I saw in 2010.

Saw that a year or so ago. Yep, much like Sweet Hereafter and Wind River, starts off depressing and every time you think well that's it, it can't be any more depressing, then they take it another notch.

Okay then I nominate Joaquin Phoenix's adaption of Joker. Left me feeling pretty horrible as we watched a dissent into mental illness and the making of a mad man, but it was good. Just didn't really want to ever watch it again.

They were showing it at Dobie in the 80s so when a buddy and I read that the county attorney was going to shut it down we couldn’t resist. We were thrown out for being too loud and drunk.

While we’re on the subject…

Haven’t read the whole thread. I assume this one has been discussed

Zardoz with Sean Connery is one of the most pretentious, trippy and generally ridiculous movies I’ve ever seen.  It’s not fucked up in the disturbing sense like most entries here, but it is definitely fucked up in the sense of constantly asking yourself, “What the fuck was that?”  It’s kind of my ultimate Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie, because instead of the usual low budget b movie it was actually supposed to be a big deal.

I think it has a great trailer though. Hard to believe Boorman followed up Deliverance with it (though he then went on to do The Exorcist II so maybe Deliverance was the outlier?)
