Kinda wishing some dipshit idiot didn’t bother to throw a fucking strike with the bases juiced, full count and tied in the 8th. This irks me.

He’s a great bunter but like to see him swing away in that situation.

I didn’t like the bunt with no outs either. Runners on first and second sure, but not there. Especially not with it 1,2,3 to start the inning.

Kennedy hasn’t really been swinging it all that well overall lately and has more swing and miss in his game than many realize.

The bunt was the right call, especially when you factor in the left on left matchup.

So the bunt was for what exactly?

Yeah, giving up an out in hopes that Thomas gets a hit to tie it was questionable.  Because we knew the Daly O'Dowd abyss wasn't going to drive in anything.

Not good Horns.

We are really not a very good team this year….regardless of our ranking.  You aren’t supposed to get pissed off watching these kids play.  I know we are young, but it’s aggravating watching this mess.

Enjoy the wins / shake off the losses / this is unlikely a team to remember so reset and enjoy the good they do deliver.

Pretty terrible loss, but it’s baseball. It happens.

Poor choices by Pierce.

The goal should be to win 2 of 3 every series. That can still happen this weekend.

I looked earlier and about half the top 12 lost tonight.

By far my favorite tradition after one loss is seeing comments like “the reality is this just isn’t a good team” or “this team just folds and doesn’t want it”.

Pretty routine on Surly. This team has a fairly high ceiling and a fairly low floor, and you see it from game to game.

When you look at how much this program lost to the draft last year, basically losing Tanner Witt for two seasons, and then losing Luke Harrison in the offseason, it’s pretty impressive for this group to have come together like they have. This team’s postseason fate rests on the arm of Witt, if he comes back and looks like his old self it takes a lot of the pressure off everybody else.

A 2018 run is likely best case scenario for this team which would be a good season, difference between this team and 2018 though is this one has the arms to take down a good team when they are on.

The biggest concerns are that Shaw hasn’t been as sharp upon his return. He’s allowed 4 base runners in 1.1. He needs to get back in the groove. Then EK needs to consistently get on base. He hasn’t been doing that in the recent weeks. He was good versus BU but not KSU or OSU or tonight.

Jayden also needs to get a Tuesday night start at SS, him, Galvan, and Carlson should be the only ones getting DH opportunities as well with JD getting most of them. Flores just isn’t ready yet. May be time for another lineup shuffle as well with Peyton Powell hitting .226 in 13 conference games.

The Duplantier SS experiment ended after the Sam Houston State disaster where he couldn’t make a throw across the field. It’s why they started repping him in the OF.

Flores is the backup SS, and unfortunately he’s been worse than Daly in pretty much every area. He’ll be good with time though, it just likely won’t be this year.

The Shaw stuff is a big concern. I figured he was performing a little over his head to start the year, but he can’t regress like this.

I’ll put it out there now before I forget….I think starting Galvan behind the plate at all this series would be a huge mistake with how much OU likes to run.

I’m fine with DH’ing him if they want but Guillemette needs to catch all 3 games.

Try him at 2B then because Daly and O'Dowd can't be in the lineup every night

is someone saying they aren't good?  They are good, which for Texas is potentially hosting a regional and winning it.

This team is 50/50 for winning a regional at best (statistically making them a top 20-25 team).  Boneheaded losses especially close ones that are winnable isn’t a recipe for post season success. That’s not Texas good. Anyone who thinks this team is a favorite to win a regional isn’t paying attention.  Now I’m whatever about it. One game at a time, enjoy the wins and stick around with enough positivity to enjoy a run if it happens. But expecting it isn’t really where this team is this year unfortunately.
