Yes.   There's not a DT on the roster right now who can consistently beat double teams.   Maybe Mitchell could do it if he could get in shape.

If we have tackles who can take up blocks with the edge play we will have and secondary that can glue guys. We will get coverage sacks.

Bama fan diatribes should be pretty good on SEC Rant. Imagine getting your way every year for 17 years and all that is suddenly taken away.

And having the balls to complain that another/other programs might now have it as good as you’ve had it for two decades.

IT mentioned Ryan Nielson....

Seems a bit far fetched, but he would be a great hire

Falcons Block Ryan Nielsen Interview Request  (with Jacksonville)

Story by Jonathan Alfano  • 1d

While the Atlanta Falcons continue their search for a new head coach, they aren't letting their top assistant go quietly.

On Thursday night, the Falcons blocked the Jacksonville Jaguars' request to interview defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen for their vacancy at the same position.

Nielsen, 44, just finished his first season as the Falcons' defensive coordinator after replacing the retired Dean Pees. Atlanta's defense took tremendous strides under Nielsen, finishing 11th in yards allowed after finishing 27th in the same stat a year earlier.

Before coming to Atlanta, Nielsen spent six years as the defensive line coach for the rival New Orleans Saints. The LSU Tigers offered him a defensive coordinator gig in 2021, but he opted to remain with the Saints instead. He also had several college coaching jobs prior to his arrival in New Orleans.

Atlanta isn't the first NFC South team to block Jacksonville from such a request. Earlier in the week, the Carolina Panthers also blocked the Jaguars from interviewing their first-year defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

The Jaguars, who lost five of their final six games to miss the playoffs, are in the hunt for a new defensive coordinator as they fired Mike Caldwell on Black Monday after two years with the club.

It remains to be seen if Nielsen will remain in Atlanta once the Falcons hire their new head coach, but at the very least, it seems like the team's brass wants him to stick around

Agree with you. That's seems highly unlikely. After his work this year, he will be a commodity at DC and possibly a HC if his success continues for a couple of years.

The shot with Williams is as the compromise school. The dad wants Auburn and the player doesn’t seem really interested in Auburn.

Dude will not be cheap though.

Given Williams is graduating a full year early and is a summer enrollee, I wonder if the likely ROI is there for what you have to pay for him
