lol. They had a nice conversation about diving safety and DCS (the bends)...then Juliette proceeds to do exactly what one would do to get DCS....and doesn't appear to be in the slightest bit of pain. For our non-diving audience, she should be dead from an embolism or near dead from the pain/shock.

Non-diver here. Did she really go deep enough for that?

They'll have it kick in next week I bet.

idk what they are doing with paramount and showtime. i sub to showtime but there is no showtime app anymore. like they are trying to merge these services.  is there a premium tier for paramount? paramount +?

all that to say i watch it live on the showtime channel on youtube tv. not sure how to find it on demand

Looking back at S1 and what all took place and then looking at S2...nothing has really happened in S2, like nothing

Well, Rebecca Ferguson has spent a lot of time submerged in water.

Y'all make me glad I bailed. I'm curious about the book(s). I assume they're more dynamic?

I read them all. For me to have done that they must have been good. Honestly, though, I remember very little beyond what was depicted in the first season.

some limited chatter I read online suggests yes.  Book nerds are complaining the show sucks this season and speculate the writers strike and perhaps RF's limited availability for shooting (as half jokingly alluded to above by @Js1) may be the culprit.  This season has been very mid.

It’s been a decade since I read the books. I don’t feel like the books spent as much time on the happenings in silo 18 once Juliette failed to clean.

I will say I loved the books my thoughts …

Spoiler

My biggest thing is that Judicial is a construct for the show. They weren’t much of a thing in the books. I feel like much of the strife was created for the sake of that construct and is weighing the show down.

I wonder if they are trying to squeeze an extra season out also.  It's been like 2 episodes worth of actual events that move the plot forward.

There shouldn’t be. The books alone easily had 5 seasons of material, IMHO.

Caught up, wife and I binged from the start recently.

Yep season 2 slow as hell, but we'll stick with it.

Overall still enjoying the show, and hoping we get some action and plot movement to wrap up the season.

And Walker selling out mechanical for her old lover she hadn't seen in 25 years, trusting her enemy and known asshole to honor his word is really fucking dumb.  I hope she's playing Bernard or that's kinda stupid.

Was hoping the memory drug was a lie to the hacker guy, but if it's real I agree with whoever said it's possible they are first generation, and think they've been down the far longer.

They spend a lot of time in Silo 18 once Juliette makes it there.  It's a large part of the second half of the book.

Even as someone that has read all the books, I've found this season a bit of a letdown.  Disjointed.  Sticking with it though.  It was renewed for 2 more seasons and that's supposed to run through the end of the books, so hopefully it will pick up some steam in Season 3.

This show has become such a beating.

And as distracting as Common is in each of his scenes, the woman who plays Walker may be the worst actor I’ve ever witnessed.

She drives me up a wall.  She needs a lot less screentime

Just started season 2. Holy shit, episode 1 was the most boring hour of TV I've seen in a while and I couldn't see shit because it was so dark.  I'm assuming it gets better but goddamn, what the fuck was that.

Not really, I think it gets even more boring after ep 1.  Lol.  Ep 9 was quite good.  2-8 kinda dogshit IMO.

I really enjoyed that episode and feel like we are finally going somewhere.

The people forcing Juliette to open the vault were an irrational bunch. She narrowed it down to 6 codes that could all be attempted within 2 days, but they wanted to kill her or Silo right then because they were hungry and needed food right that instant? They’ve been scavenging in that Silo for decades.

if i could make a suggestion, you should read the spoiler below and then just jump straight to episode 9.

Spoiler

rebecca ferguson and steve zahn have a painfully slow relationship develop in which they undertake a number of idiotic adventures in the seemingly empty silo in which she should have died but somehow doesn't...all in pursuit of trying to collect a suit to go back outside. over that time, she comes to realize that zahn was just a kid when his silo got overrun and she figures out how to appeal to his emotional needs. some other people show up and then you get to episode 9. this was the most painfully infuriating part of the season...it was so stupid. i think it was so frustrating, that rebecca ferguson just stopped trying to act over her natural accent slipping on about 10% of the words she says which is kind of hilarious.

at the same time, in the original silo, a bunch of backstabbing shit happens all over the place and andy dufresne tries to frame people from mechanical for killing the judge (that he killed). at the same time, nuke laloosh sends "demotes" common to be the judge where he's effectively a figurehead and brings on the indian dude who figured out the stars in the cafeteria with rebecca ferguson to be his i.t. shadow. through this, we get introduced to the fact that the head of i.t. has access to basically a museum/library/chatgpt of all of human history and knowledge (critically steve zahn had access to this as well in his silo which comes into play in ep 9). hudsucker proxy is trying to keep the silo held together through advised tactics of creating conflict amongst the classes and a bunch of shit happens that is so incredibly boring and predictable like common starting to let his jealousy undermine his dedication and the sheriff starting to think twice about stuff. but i.t. shadow figures out some shit that leads him somewhere interesting which gets you to ep 9.

just saved you 7 hours.

I kept forgetting to comment on this. It's really obvious and she's too good of an actor for that. Weird.

While this isn’t a show that will go on the Mount Rushmore for TV, I have enjoyed it.  I can understand what some are saying on pacing but I’ve never once thought that I regret watching it.  It is what it is….a solid 8.  Nothing more, nothing less.

And even dirty, grimy RF brings the heat.

It’s like everyone forgot how slow some of the early seasons of GOT were.

I’ll show myself out.

Spoiler

The ending felt like a backdoor pilot for a prequel show, but I think we will get a few episodes (by themselves or incorporated flashbacks) of what led to the siloes being built and populated.

My understanding is book 2 (Shift) is fully the prequel to what leads into book 1 (Wool).  And book 3 (Dust) is the ending, so I'm guessing season 3 will be partially Shift and Dust and season 4 will finish off Dust.
