Warren’s tactic is very clear. Any issue that is a core concern for a left of moderate dem is going to be addressed not by making sensible goals but by absolutely attacking the connected industries.

Climate change: destroy fossil fuel industry and companies regardless of what it does to the economy. No time to transition. Just destroy ASAP.

Bankers didn’t go to jail: destroy banking industry regardless of the harm it will cause every citizen with even a modest amount in the stock market. Cause havoc with inflation because the ends justify the means day one.

When you look at her approach to getting what she wants you have to wonder why we even have congress or senate. Of course, you have to wonder the same for about 18 of the last 20 years. I mean at least the worst legislation in the last 50 years went through all chambers. She wants to take “pen and phone” to a level beyond what anyone else has.

We're going to have to deal with the O&G industry in a better way than crushing it on Day 1. I'm on record as an opponent of exploiting environmentally sensitive areas. Making fracking unavailable is a bad plan. So is making it harder for solar or wind with stupid tariffs. Attack them for violations? Go for it,  but don't cut your own throat. We can figure it out without causing a major collapse of the economy. 3 dollar gas is a choke collar? Imagine 7 dollars a gallon.

Bankers though. I'd like to see some of them take a perp walk.

Exactly why shouldn't I attack those industries that have been attacking me?

I’m not saying you can’t put corporate criminals in jail. We absolutely should. I’m saying you can’t take a position of “my family farm was foreclosed on so Every banker should be in jail and we absolutely need to break up any bank with more than a billion dollars in deposits.”

warren and I disagree on about everything. But I can see how she appeals to people.  The problem is that she isn’t bringing real solutions to solving the problems that her base, and she, cares about. As said in your post, gas goes to $7 a gallon and all of the sudden all of the people who voted for her can’t afford to drive to work. She kept her promise but fucked her constituency.

There are absolutely real and reasonable ways to approach climate change and criminal bankers and any other issue you think is important. Saying “let’s just kill the industry” isn’t a solution. It’ll hurt the people more than it will cure the problem.

The awfulness of George W Bush open the door for Obama to win.  No one blames John McCain for Obama getting elected.  They blame GWB and the republicans, rightfully so.  The same can be said of the failures of Obama and the subsequent election of Trump.  Obama failed people that actually voted for him because they ended up voting for Trump in 2016 for whatever reason.  Those are the only voters Biden is pandering to in this election and I’m not sure it’s going to work.

Yep. Bernie probably would have won. Biden would have easily won. Obama (if allowed a 3rd term) would have won by 10%+. Trump is not really a referendum on anything except for how awful Hillary and her campaign were.

This is exactly why our old pal joe Biden was the leader out of the gate. He seemed like the most rational and level person. He’s just too damn old and people are realizing that his time has passed. If he’s 20 years younger he absolutely smokes this field and beats trump by 100 EVs or more.

Face it, she ran a shit campaign on the heels of two of the most successful campaigns in election history. “It’s her turn” isn’t a political stance you can win on. In areas I’m from that actually turned a bunch of women off. Notions like that hurt women and their push for true equality. In my lifetime, I’ve seen Reagan, two Bushes, a Clinton, and Obama.

Obama was the least worst.

Reagan and the Bushes did the most damage to our society.  They got us into wars, were plagued with scandals that sent many people in their administration to prison, and ran up the debt for no reason except to hand over wealth to the 0.01%.

Bill Clinton would be the best if he wasn’t such a lying POS that couldn’t keep his dick in his pants.

Out of all of them, Obama served the county the best but he was horrible on foreign policy and while Obamacare was a great achievement, it still fell far short.

He also allowed the Republicans to take over congress and hold the entire legislative process hostage for a generation. So yeah, not a great president but the best of my lifetime.

Not that I disagree with anything that Hawking 2.0 is asserting, but at which point in our history has a grassroots movement overtaken an industry as large and influential as healthcare in America?  Isn't healthcare spending something like 20% of GDP?  I imagine a shit ton of very wealthy people will keep their middle finger raised at the people while upping their campaign contributions and keeping the same political whores in office.  Asking honestly 'cause I suck at history.

That’s a valid point and not wrong.  Trump isn’t some anomaly entirely based on racism though. He is just the peak of what the Republican Tea Party movement was moving towards under the Obama Administration.

The democrats lost so much ground in down ballot races and state houses during Obama’s tenure.  While racism played a part, Obama could have done a lot more keep the party strong instead of letting it go broke and leaderless to the point Hillary had to bail them out and coronate herself.  Obama largely ignored the problems within his own party.

Obama also dropped the ball on Russia from start to finish of his administration and that also contributed to Hillary’s loss. Again, Hillary was a bad candidate but she was also the nominee because of the neglect of Obama within the Democratic party.  Obama had no long term planning beyond protecting his legacy in the history books.  This contributed to opening the door for both Hillary and Trump.

JFC. You claim to be a Biden fan. Hillary and Biden share almost identical platforms.  If you voted for Trump, against a platform you claim to like, then he is 100 percent your fault.  Not Hillary's.  Not Obama's.  People hate Hillary because of the dumb ass negative attacks that Rush has been putting out since the 90s.  It is and was irrational hatred, plain and simple.

In reality, Trump voters are just looking for an excuse. They are going to pull the lever for Trump again.  Doesn't matter who the Dem candidate is. Fox and Rush will ramp up against the Dem primary winner and you'll go right back to "people have hated them forever." But Pocahontas!  But he's gonna take our guns!  But he's touchy feely in pictures!  But socialist!  The excuses are already lined up for you.

I'm sure you were a "but her emails" man.  Trump and his spawn have been about 10 times worse. Funny how it's not an issue for him.

The single biggest moment is, I think, pretty obvious.

This is a shattering of a decades-long taboo in Dem/liberal politics. This is one of those "everyone nervously looking at each other to see who will say it first" things, and once someone says it, it becomes a flood.

Unapologetic and angry demands for the buyback/confiscation of assault weapons is a wave that can grow.

I hope you're right, but as I've said, I think it was a mistake.

I agree with the sentiment, i.e. gun control, but words matter

I think the treating guns like cars angle... insurance, licenses, registration...is the way to sell it, not threats of confiscation.

The Right's been fear-mongering that line for decades about the Left's goal and now they have a tweet and a soundbite to rally the troops.

Again, I hope I'm wrong, but the Dems have a history of giving up big leads and squandering opportunities.
