Whenever you're in doubt or caught off guard, and somebody asks you what you're political achievements are, just pivot towards, "I took on the big banks" or "I stood up to Wall Street."

People have literally ridden those quotes all the way to winning the popular vote for POTUS.  As a governor, you can still claim to financial services reform.

I don't agree with everything she says or some of her policy ideas but at least she is willing to try and do something different instead of just allowing the political machines on both sides (yes, on both sides) to determine how and what someone should do based on stupid decades long "this is how it's done" DC crap.

The whole point of being in DC is to get things done and her point of disagreeing with 9 out of 10 things with someone in the GOP it's about finding the 1 out of 10  that they are willing to work with you on to get bills passed that are good for those they serve.

She is 100% right the hyper political my side vs. your side crap is unhealthy for the country and needs to change.

I think Tulsi would have surprisingly broad appeal if she could get a decent amount of neutral media coverage.  She is a clear and direct speaker and she gives good interviews when she's not being attacked on all sides over bullshit.

"I'm thinking about running."

- "No one wants you to."

"I hear what you're saying." *exaggerated wink*

- "Seriously, Bill, no one cares. No one wants you to run."

"Loud and clear, sport." *finger guns*

- "Bill, nobody outside NYC knows who you are and everyone in NYC hates you."

"Fine, fine, you're twisting my arm. I'LL RUN!"

Of course she is. Political parties have in their best interest their own party. The entire idea that any party has the moral high ground is a joke. They don't even rise to the level of being competent.

Unfortunately, around here, it's all team, all the time. There is a gigantic difference between political ideology and partisanship. They're two completely different things.

I wholeheartedly despise the Republicans. I feel exactly the same way about Democrats, for competely different reasons. Both parties are a threat to the American people.

Nah. Only one party is threatening democracy and the republic.

You can both sides bullshit all you want. Doesn’t make it true.

One party supports a pussy grabbing, narcissistic wannabe dictator who calls anyone who doesn’t completely suck his dick an enemy of the state and lies 98 percent of the time.

Go fuck yourself with your both sides ignorant or lying bullshit. Not falling for it.

A large portion of Republican voters don't understand that the Republican Party is about one thing and one thing only: protecting the interests of the rich. That's it. That's all they care about.

If that means they have to pander to Jesus freaks and racists to get votes, so be it.

That’s a major problem for sure. Wish they’d wake up to that but the alternative is not owning the libs so probably not even happening.

This is not a surprise.

Schultz would run third party to protect the status quo from Warren/Sanders because Biden won't upset anything if he's elected, which opens the door for a worse version of Donald Trump to run against the status quo in 2024.

Joe Biden thinks he's saving America, but he could just end up making it a lot worse 6 years down the road and he'll be 82 and set for life, so who fucking cares?

A worse version of Trump could just as easily run in 2024 if Bernie drastically changes a bunch of things.   I think that’s actually more likely.  More people are going to be upset and embrace extremist views in response to major disruption than in response to more or less keeping the status quo with some small tweaks.

It might be Donald Trump.

What in the fuck is de Blasio doing? I remember when 16 Republicans was a clown show.

Not a good sign for a Democrat running for president when Whoopi Goldberg and the rest of the coven on The View pretty much turn to the camera and break up laughing while trying to tell their audience you are running for president.

Trump down in the polls

Quote

Hillary Clinton has widened her lead over Donald Trump, polling 14 percentage points ahead nationally, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll, which comes 12 days before the presidential election.

Conducted after the final presidential debate, the poll finds the Democratic nominee leads Trump among likely voters 51% to 37%, a significant lead over the Republican candidate.

Forgive me if I don't believe the polls this election cycle.  Also... Something something electoral college.

Not to downplay the extremist views on the right side of the aisle, but wouldn't socialism be considered an extremist view on the left side of the aisle?  A pro-life candidate is viewed as extremist by many on the left (I'm pro choice btw), but for some reason the furthest outreaches of the left are never considered extremist.  Bernie is absolutely an extremist candidate so of course anyone running against him would be considered extremist from his spot on the spectrum.

Biden, Bernie, Liz is a Top 3 I am happy to see heading into the debate.

Biden must be destroyed.

Warren is going to catch Bernie, and when that happens, Bernie is going to keep dropping.

That being said, anybody have a link to a poll that identifies who has higher negative ratings from Dems and Republs, Bernie or Lizzy?

I think Warren is a strategic buffoon who is too awkward to make the people like her as a person (not as a politician).  She'll finish in the top 4 with Biden, Bernie, and Pete I think but her and Pete will fall out about the same time.  One of two outcomes happens from there in my mind, Bernie gives the election away like he did in 2016 and eh bernie bros that regretablly cam back for round 2 full on revolt and vote for trump or Bernie wins and gets absolutely smoked by Trump because deep down a lot of the old dog dems think bernie is too progressive.  Dem turnout is LOW with him.  My predictions, nothing to back it up but gut feel and personal analysis of how people will react to essentially the exact same 2 candidates leading the 2020 nomination as the 2016 nomination.

My gut feel is that Warren is a buffoon, but I'm basing that on my own inherent sexism as well as a hunch that her weird buffoonery might end up appealing to women and millennials.  Because I don't understand either or those two demographics.

She's an odd duck, but part of me thinks there is a chance that as the field slims down she's get the runoff from those two groups.

My takeaway here is that there is a hard wall of 41% that will support Trump over just about anyone, and 3% of them are full of shit when they claim they'd vote Biden over Trump.

Give Trump those 3% of full-of-shit voters back and Biden's at 46/41, just like Bernie. Assuming the lower numbers for Warren/Harris/Pete are mostly just on lack of exposure/name recognition yet.

Donald Trump has gold toilets, a fat ass, fake hair, a spray tan, eats steaks will done with ketchup, can't pronounce words longer than 2 syllables or spell things properly in a tweet and couldn't tell you where Niger was on a map but Warren is an unlikeable buffoon.

Okay.

Polls are data points, yes, but Bernie isn't going away. He has more volunteers, organizers, and donators than the next few candidates combined. Warren is building a huge machine herself.

Don't confuse the media narrative (and the polling that trails the media narrative) with primary/caucus vote predictions.

I agree with most of this. I think Biden would capture enough of the Obama->Trump voters back to win the rust belt and the election. There's a group of Obama->Trump voters that either wouldn't vote for a woman or bought into the years-long anti-Hillary campaign, that Joe would get back fairly easily. Those people are idiots, but we need their votes.

The way Warren is attacking Trump out on the stump is tremendous and everyone should be watching her. But I still believe she's mistake prone and easily baitable by Trump. She is going to look terribly uncharismatic on a stage next to Trump, and that matters, even if it shouldn't.

I'm trying not too.

My little brain is processing it as follows:  Mayor Pete is going to gain on Biden for the moderate vote.

Warren is going to gain on Bernie for the progressives.  But I'll caveat that statement by making the assumption that her wonkishness, and her silly comanche stuff don't really matter to voters - the undecided progressives will gradually go to her as opposed to Bernie.

Do these exist? I don't mean this as a shot at all. But I think most progressives probably already know what they'll be doing next year. Totally anecdotal, but it seems that way to me.

I think the people who still can be won are folks who are general left-leaners who are not hard left (AKA shitlib centrists), or anti-Trumpers like some of our former-Republicans on the board.

The only way Bernie or Warren wins is if there's only one of them left and the rest of the field stays huge throughout, splitting the more moderate vote. Biden's surge makes that apparent, at least IMO. If you look at the crosstabs from the primary polling, it supports what I'm saying. Only 14% of primary voters want a candidate who is left of Obama. Bernie and Warren will get those 14% between them, plus some in-betweeners. Looks to me like 20-25% nationally is their ceiling, between them both.

Raising money for an opponent is a pretty strong tell of how hard you're going to sell out to Republicans if elected.

The grift is real.

Here's your leading candidate. This isn't "57 states", this is another thing entirely. He isn't all there. He's not mentally holding it together. I don't think that's any impediment to victory, but it's just a good thing to know.

You voted for Trump and will do so again. Maybe sit this one out.

You sound like Beto haha.

I haven't followed her that much other than knowing that her entire political career is based on attacking wall street.  Which isn't a bad cause for getting elected.  But between the Native American thing and the having a beer with her husband thing I just can't see her being anything but awkward when dealing with adversity on the trail.  She couldn't even look natural announcing her candidacy.
