That's my point. I think Beto will be able to excite the left,  young people especially, without taking extreme left positions. I don't know. We'll see. Regardless of how centrist the candidate is, the republicans will label them an extreme-left socialist. Klobuchar, or should I say Comrade Klobuchar, included.

I hope you're right, but I get the feeling his campaign will fall flat. Especially if he uses the same tactics as the Senate race.

I’d vote for a reasonable centrist over trump.  woo me.  win my vote.

There are numerous candidates either already announced or in the discussion to announce. Their positions aren’t mysteries. Tell us if anyone meets your “reasonable centrist” standard. I’m betting that none do.

She has as much weight and name recognition as most of the Ds. Might work.

it'd be cool to have her give the SOTU and have BHO in the upper deck get some applause.  They would point at each other, as a form of endearment, as blacks often do.

I was told that they also read the Financial Times. At least, the upscale ones do. Pretty sure I read that on TOS.

Michelle is genuine, likable, and relatable. Hillary is none of those. You can argue the point, or argue that it doesn’t matter, but you’d be very, very wrong.

I'm sure she has some baggage (everyone does), but not like Hillary. Besides the redeeming qualities you list, there would be the benefit of voters associating her with Obama. She would be somewhat of a known quantity from day 1.

Might that have something to do with the fact that Michelle hasn't run for anything? lol

Yeah, that’s the big reason.

People easily forget Hillary had Michelle Obama like favorability numbers before she was sacrificed for our stupidity.

We’be heard that lie over and over from the Trump apologists.  Anyone with a (D) next to their name will be labeled “too extreme!!!” regardless of their views and positions.  They’ll vote for Trump and every other Republican and than say it’s everyone else’s fault that we ended up with a traitor in charge of a criminal entrprise running the country.  “I had no choice!!”

Lulz. If Biden actually runs, it's more proof he's completely out of touch with our current times. The amount of baggage or stories like this that will come out will be numerous.

He's done before he's even started.

The DNC will chase after futureman all the way until November of 2020 and then be SHOCKED when futureman votes for Trump and the DNC loses again. Meanwhile, tens of millions of non-voting, working class Americans will continue to be untapped.

Those tactics were:

1) Showing up unannounced to confront an unexpecting Target

2) Issuing a demand assured of being unmet

3) Editing a long interaction to misrepresent the full exchange

4) Preemptively framing it as terrible in online posts (a Trump favorite!)

D0LUKOiX0AAko98?format=jpg&name=medium

I’ve now gotten at least 2,000 comments from people who ignored the actual substance of my criticism to instead insist DiFi is terrible, too old, awful to kids, an obstacle to progress, etc.

Propaganda works... and not just because it persuades.

Propaganda works because people get so caught up in their reactions, they not only don’t see how those have been engineered; they vehemently argue that the manipulations aren’t meaningful or problematic.

I fear we have learned almost nothing since 2016.

We got played. We’ll get played again.

Our odds of getting our candidates through the primary without being entirely twisted around into division and discord are approximately 0%.

If you see online manipulations and aren’t opposed to them - no matter who the target, topic or message - you are helping them flourish.

If you only oppose online manipulations when you disagree with the point, you are helping them flourish.

Feinstein isn’t my Senator. I don’t regard her as a leader on climate change or a major impediment.

I know this though: we will continue to fail long past when DiFi has left office if we don’t collectively call out and reject manipulation... and we will entirely deserve it.

If we can’t agree that staged, deceptive things meant to undermine and divide the left are bad, we are fucked. Fucked.

Article in the New Yorker insisted that Feinstein's insistence that she be diplomatic and political about attempts to pass legislation was inappropriate for an issue like climate change.

You can call me a lousy centrist all day, but lack of willingness to compromise with people who think and believe differently than you is just a shitty way to live.

Spoiler

Feinstein is, in fact, right: on most questions, a “my way or the highway” attitude doesn’t get you very far. If I’m a lawmaker and I think that the minimum wage should be thirty dollars an hour, and you’re one who thinks that eight dollars is generous, we’ll probably try to pass a law that sets the mark somewhere near fifteen dollars, and then argue about it again after the next election. There would be no point in holding out for what I can’t get. But, in the case of the environment, the opponent is not the Chamber of Commerce. The opponent is physics, and physics doesn’t negotiate. It’s not moved by appeals to centrist moderation, or explanations about the filibuster. And it has set a firm time limit. Scientists have told us what we must do and by when, and so legislators must do all they can to match those targets. The beauty of the Green New Deal legislation is not that it’s shiny or progressive or a poke in the eye to the oil companies. Its beauty is that it actually tries to meet the target that science has given us.

moderates will re-elect trump before voting for a leftist.

those people are not moderates.  they are party over country republicans who are not honest with themselves or others about who they really are.  anyone who is willing to vote for Trump under any circumstance at this juncture is beyond redemption and should rightly be written off for all purposes.

Futureman is right on this. You're not gonna get his vote, but you will lose mine. And I'll blame you forever.

I already blame the Sanders faction for the last election. And i don't care about your protestations about Hillary or me -- you come off as effete intellectual snobs to the "working class" you think you can grab by proclaiming socialistic solidarity.

And one of yours killed people.

You will be easy to rip to pieces in a general. Crazy Bernie Unabomber party. So easy to beat.

blaming the Bernistas for Trump's victory. If bitch and DWS hadn't screwed them over, we'd have a different story.

But haven't you heard? it's better to sit on the sidelines with an uncompromising ideology than sit in the White House as a dirty rotten moderate.

Pay attention to who actually threatens to hold the entire nation hostage for their ideology. It's not the leftists/Bernie Bros who say they'll vote for Trump if Biden gets the nod.

What are you talking about? Sit on the sidelines? The left/Bernie Bros are the only contingent of Dem primary voters who are active and enthusiastic right now about building a winning coalition. 1 million volunteers already. $6M in small donations in 24 hours.

Where else is there noticeable, positive energy? The centrist scolds who constantly threaten to vote for Donald Trump?

Turn on your monitor.
