he’s been a healthy scratch in a few games this year already,

I mean they've played 3 games. He didn't play week 1, had 15 snaps on ST week 2, and last week had 62 scrimmage yards on 8 carries and 4 receptions.

He appears to be in their plans. Maybe they just wanted to see some stuff they didn't see in training camp and preseason?

I wouldn't hold out any hope for the Bears being competent at offense. They need a different coach.

This is 100% accurate.  Also their underwhelming, bordering on incompetent, OL is now dealing with injuries and may be forced to start their 3rd rounder who missed all of training camp with injury.

That said, this offense needs a North/South runner who will put his head down and pick up yards.  They need a back who defenses will need to respect in play action (which they should be doing much more of).  And they need a back who is a capable blocker.  Roschon checks all of those boxes.

As mentioned above - the Bears paid decent money (they signed him to essentially a two year deal though) to D'Andre Swift but early returns are that he's lost whatever vision he once had and his physical tools are no longer there to overcome the lack of vision. He shined in training camp - but you can do that when players are going 3/4 speed and not taking you to the ground.  Now that the games are for real Swift is shying away from contact and going down at the first hit.

Assuming they give him a real shot - Roschon has a chance to become the primary back.

He’s never had vision. The only time he’s been good is when he’s behind a great OL and then his physical tools can wow people. It was a terrible signing by the Bears that looks even worse now that the OL is the worst in the league.

The reports from training camp weren’t great and he’s been a healthy scratch in a few games this year already, but hopefully he can show up for this opportunity.

If the Bears think he's not any good he's probably a pro bowl caliber RB.
