jesus christ that is so fucking scripted Goo.

the camera only moves to watch the guys get ready,  and then moves back to watch the TV as the game winning PK is scored??

come the fuck on.      The celebration at the end is fake.... you only need to watch the FOX english newscasters watching the English final PK attempt against COL to watch the body language to realize England just won PKs in a "that just happend" moment.  These guys are jumping around, but not with the primal screams of excitement you see with all the soccer countries as they move on.

I don’t know why they only talk about the Belgian golden generation and not the beginning of the next French one. They are so loaded right now.

In terms of Belgium, this team is established around the same core that was their 2014 World Cup team and their 2016 Euro team. They are of a single generation carrying this team.

On the other hand France has been a power for a while now and this current team is more of a mix of the old generation with a influx of younger players (granted it's a lot of them). This isn't to say that younger generation won't last, they certainly have a solid young core which to build from.

And trust me, this generation of talent that is being generated by France has been talked about (all pre-tourney):

They do.

But they say that this is Belgium’s last shot.

You must not waste enough of your life online.

So that video was a crop of wide angle video here:

Still a lot to be said that MAYBE it's scripted.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5947625/FIFA-orders-World-Cup-broadcasters-stop-zooming-hot-women-crowd-games.html

Quote

FIFA has ordered World Cup broadcasters to stop zooming their cameras in on 'hot women' in the crowd during matches, to help prevent sexism in football.

Among the glamorous fans attracting attention are former porn star Natalya Nemchinova, named as Russia’s hottest World Cup fan, along with wives and girlfriends of footballers playing for England, Croatia and France.

But, the federation's diversity boss, Federico Addiechi, said the organisation has told its broadcast service to stop zooming in on 'hot women' in the stands.

Natalya Nemchinova, 28, has attracted huge attention with her support for her team    +9

It has also been monitoring whether the various national rights-holders have also been picking out pretty faces.

He said: 'We’ve done it with individual broadcasters. We’ve done it as well with our host broadcast services.'

Although not yet part of a 'proactive' FIFA campaig, Addiechi said 'we'll take action against things that are wrong'.

Sexism has caused problems, according to Piara Powar, executive director of anti-discrimination group Fare Network, which has been helping FIFA monitor behaviour at and around World Cup matches.

Powar said the group has 'documented more than 30 cases' of mainly Russian women being 'accosted in the streets' by male fans but believes the real number of incidents is likely to be '10 times this'.

He also said there have been several cases of football fans grabbing or kissing female reporters while on air.

Addiechi said FIFA has been working with the local organisers and Russian police to identify such fans and, when appropriate, they have lost their FAN-IDs and thrown out of the country.

He added that while it was not yet part of a 'proactive campaign, we'll take action against things that are wrong'.

However it is unclear whether Russia's host broadcasters have been warned about their habit of picking out pretty faces in the crowd.

In regard to other forms of discrimination, Addiechi and Powar said various measures taken by the authorities – banning orders, diversity training and so on – were successful and the Russian people themselves have been great hosts.

Prior to the start of the tournament there were concerns that Russia 2018 would be tarnished by homophobia and racism.

Argentina's FA has received the biggest fine – nearly £80,000 – from FIFA so far this tournament for the crowd disturbances during their 3-0 defeat by Croatia.

This is definitely NOT Sepp Blatter's FIFA.

Soccer chief's plan to boost women's game? Hotpants
January 15, 2004

Football's most senior administrator attracted the wrath of the women's game last night by suggesting female players wear tighter shorts to promote "a more female aesthetic".

Sepp Blatter, the president of the world governing body Fifa, said women should have skimpier kit to increase the popularity of the game. "Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball," he said.

"They could, for example, have tighter shorts. Female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men - such as playing with a lighter ball. That decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion?"

Blatter's comments outraged leading European female footballers, and have threatened to undermine the sport, which has 30 million registered players worldwide...

We all think that. We just don't say it.

They are already cracking the Champagne in gay Paris. 2 to 1 favorites in this final. I gotta go with my dogs.

Well, Saturday is Bastille Day and so they probably gave everyone Friday off, so...

I would expect them to be drinking heavily already. (They're probably even singing their favorite their favorite Bastille song in les discotheques a Paris.)

Lovren to Dele Alli: "Jebat cu ti majku u picku ja"

per reddit, it roughly translates to "your boohoo man clothing line is a load of shite, mate"

His smack talk is world class, as well.

Pretty impressive that random sports shit talk is being translated line by line. I wonder what the other 50+ insults were hurled between the teams yesterday. Sure Harry Kane and his quick wit came up with a few good one liners.

Yup, tomorrow will be the observed bank holiday for Bastille Day on Saturday.  You better believe the French will be well lubricated by Sunday's final, and I'd expect that many of them won't show up to work on Monday (win or lose).

Not that anyone would really notice whether or not they were at work... :)

I have a very basic World Cup question that I posted in the Dumb Question Amnesty thread and got no response. I'll repost it here and beg for your mercy. Thanks in advance.

In the ESPN app, when I look at the World Cup matchups, it shows, for example:

Belgium LWWWW

England WWLWW

That's for the Saturday 3rd place game.

WTF do the Ws and Ls mean? I thought it might be wins and losses over the last 5 games, but since both Belgium and England lost their last matches, that apparently isn't the case.

W = "Win"

= "Loss"

D = "Draw" (we call them a "Tie" in the United States)

These are the results of their last 5 games, with the most recent result represented on the left and then working back in time as you move right.

I was surprised at how dedicated most of the Frenchies I've worked with have been to their jobs.  They had a better work ethic than most of the Aussies and pretty much every Scot I've had to deal with.

I might be exaggerating a little.  But not really a lot.

The electrical engineers I worked with over there were diligent enough, but the line workers and technicians in the wafer fabs started their days at 9, took an hour long smoke break at 10, took a 2-hour lunch at 1, another long smoke break in the afternoon, and were out the door by 5.  The state-mandated 35-hour work week had something to do with that, but they still didn't put in a full 7 hours per day, or even close to it.

Oh yeah, for sure. I'm not ATTACKING them at all.  That's a pretty nice way to live, especially down in Aix en Provence.
