Bayern Munich have set Tottenham a deadline of midnight on Friday to accept a club-record offer in excess of €100 million ($110m) for striker Harry Kane, sources have told ESPN.

Sources have told ESPN that Bayern's latest bid comprises €100m guaranteed with up to approximately €20m in add-ons.

Kane is in the final 12 months of his contract but Bayern are prepared to shatter their previous highest transfer -- the €80m paid to Atletico Madrid for defender Lucas Hernandez -- to land the England international.

Bayern are now awaiting an answer from Spurs and have threatened to move onto other targets if the bid is not successful.

Sources have told ESPN that Kane has no interest in signing a new deal with Spurs this summer, leaving the club to make a decision as to whether they cash in now or risk losing their prized asset for nothing at the end of the season.

Kane has been Bayern's top target all summer but there is a desire on all sides to reach a conclusion as soon as possible rather than allow the situation to drag on into the start of the season.

Face-to-face talks have taken place this week between Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen, and there is optimism that Kane is open to joining the Bundesliga champions if the two clubs can agree a fee.

Kane has scored 212 Premier League goals and is within touching distance of Alan Shearer's all-time record (260) but is motivated by winning silverware having never lifted a trophy with Tottenham or England.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs are prepared to lose their talisman, however, as new head coach Ange Postecoglou looks to improve on last season's eighth-place finish.

Tottenham have rejected the latest offer from Bayern Munich for Harry Kane.

The clubs held talks in London last week, only to remain around £25million ($32m; €29.2m) apart in their valuation of the England captain.

Bayern had a first bid of €70m plus add-ons for Kane rejected in June, before a second increased proposal was turned down at the start of July.

The Bundesliga champions have now seen another approach to land the 30-year-old before the start of the new campaign knocked back.

Bayern officials are due to hold a pre-scheduled meeting on Monday with transfer updates set to be on the agenda.

Kane, who return to pre-season training with Tottenham on July 12, is into the final 12 months of his existing contract in north London and the club still hope they can convince him to extend.

The striker was part of Tottenham’s summer tour to Australia and Singapore and is currently preparing for a Premier League opener against Brentford on Sunday, August 13.

New head coach Ange Postecoglou has repeatedly urged for a swift resolution, saying last month: “I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone.”

After a 5-1 friendly win over Shakhtar Donestsk on Sunday — in which Kane scored four — Postecoglou admitted he was in “open dialogue” with Kane and the club about the situation.

He added: “We can’t wait (around) for a decision either way to get going. We don’t have the time or the luxury to do that. I’m working with what’s in front of me. You saw today that Harry certainly is invested in what we’re doing and we’ll keep on doing that unless something changes.”

Why Bayern want Kane

Analysis by Raphael Honigstein and Mark Carey

It’s easy to see why the serial German champions have made Kane their No 1 priority this summer. He is two players in one: a wonderful finisher in the box but just as adept at holding the ball up and playing in fast runners — which Bayern’s squad have in abundance — moving beyond him.

Kane will commonly drift into half-spaces in attacking phases to try to play a killer ball between the lines — commonly to unlock a defence or play the “pass before the assist” — rather than always being that striker prowling the zone between the goalposts.

Tuchel’s possession game will be greatly enhanced by a technical forward who can create depth by dragging defenders out of the back line. At the same time, Kane can also play like a more orthodox target man, holding up the ball for his team’s midfielders to join the attack.

He is quite simply a chief goalscorer and creator for club and country.

The Athletic reporting that Spurs have agreed fee with Bayern, now up to Harry if he wants to move

Spoiler

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Harry Kane, sources in Germany indicate.

A proposal from the Bundesliga side, believed to be worth more than €100million (£86.4m, $110m), was accepted by their Premier League counterparts on Wednesday.

Kane must now decide whether or not he will make the move.

The 30-year-old wanted the situation resolved before Tottenham’s opening fixture of the season at Brentford on Sunday.

He is known to be enjoying life under new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou and has been leaning towards staying.

But it is unclear how the striker will react to this development.

Kane is into the final 12 months of his contract and Tottenham want to tie him to fresh terms.

There has been no progress on that so far, which has led the club to consider selling their talisman in the current transfer window rather than running the risk of losing him as a free agent next summer.

The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the clubs remained a distance apart in their valuation of the England captain after fresh transfer talks on Monday evening.

Bayern had seen three bids for Kane rejected, with the first made in June, but they have since made a breakthrough after increasing the offer.

Kane is reluctant to embark upon a transfer once the 2023-24 campaign begins and has been encouraged by the Postecoglou’s early impact.

He played a full part in Tottenham’s summer tour to Australia and Singapore before scoring four goals in a 5-1 win home against Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday.

Postecoglou admitted after that game that he was in “open dialogue” with Kane and the club over a potential switch, but warned of the need for an outcome soon for the sake of all parties.

Kane’s options dissected — leave now, leave next summer, sign new deal?

Analysis by Tottenham correspondent Tim Spiers

Bayern want Kane and Kane has appeared to want to move to Bayern. The talks wouldn’t have lasted this long if the striker hadn’t expressed a strong interest in joining the perennial German champions. It’s been believed throughout the summer that Kane doesn’t have an interest in entering negotiations to join any other side this window.

As far as personal terms go, The Athletic has previously reported that Bayern will offer Kane £25million all-in per season, the equivalent of £480,000 a week, which would more than double his current basic salary — so no issues there.

In Bayern’s favour is Kane’s contract situation. He can currently leave them as a free agent next summer, which right now feels like the worst-case scenario for the Premier League club — certainly from a financial perspective if not a footballing one.

If all this jostling comes to nothing, Tottenham can surely still expect a motivated and committed Kane to give his all for the club in the final year of his contract.

He is said to be enjoying training under new head coach Ange Postecoglou, who will adopt a far more attacking and expansive style than predecessor Antonio Conte did over the previous couple of seasons.

Despite the tactics, Kane still managed 30 Premier League goals, his joint-best total in 11 seasons playing in the division, but he couldn’t lift a bedraggled team any higher than eighth in the final table. That means no European football for Spurs this season, which is likely to be a key factor in him having flirted with an exit from his boyhood club. There is hope that with new additions including his England colleague James Maddison and centre-back Micky van de Ven, Tottenham have reasons to be optimistic about the forthcoming campaign.

While Kane is only open to talking to Bayern in this window, he would have a long list of suitors in 2024. These could include Real Madrid, depending on the status of their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain, who have sniffed around the Englishman this summer, other Premier League clubs and almost certainly interest Saudi Arabian ones, too.

Kane signing a new contract appears the least likely scenario but one that cannot be ruled out, given how much Spurs means to Kane.

He may have become their record goalscorer last season, surpassing the late, great Jimmy Greaves, but he still has one sizeable, notable achievement left to tick off – winning a trophy with them.

He would also dearly love to beat Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals. Kane is currently on 213 in the competition and if he maintains his scoring rate of the past two years, he can expect to overtake Shearer towards the end of the 2024-25 season.

View from Germany — what if Kane rejects Bayern?

Analysis from German football correspondent Raphael Honigstein

Following a number of meetings with Kane and his advisors, Bayern have been convinced the forward would be set on moving to Munich if a fee were agreed with Spurs.

Any late change of heart would be a source of embarrassment to the new CEO Jan Dreesen, as well as honorary president Uli Hoeness and supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who have both taken a more active role since the demission of CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic in May.

If Kane opts against joining them, Bayern’s need for a centre-forward will see their attention turn to French international Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt. The Bundesliga side have indicated that they value the 24-year-old at €100m.

I thought Harry had already agreed terms with Bayern?

He did. But he has to sign them to make the transfer official.

So now the rubber is hitting the road and he has to make a decision on if he wants to leave or not.

That said, I don’t see how he doesn’t go.

easy to see how he doesnt go. he can say he never agreed to the terms, play out his contract and then leave on a free next summer to another EPL team and keep chasing shearer’s record…all while dangling the smallest carrot of hope that he signs a new contract at spurs.

he already started walking it back the other day by indicating he was leaning towards staying regardless.

The Athletic reporting that Harry has agreed to transfer and agreed to 4 year contract with Bayern

Harry Kane has agreed to join Bayern Munich and personal terms are in place on a proposed four-year contract.

The England captain, 30, is now waiting for a green light from Tottenham Hotspur to travel for a medical and to complete the transfer.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that Tottenham had accepted a proposal worth more than €100million (£86.4m, $110m) from Bayern.

I hope you mean that for Spurs, not Harry.

I'm totally rooting for Harry to win the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and Champions League seeing as how there's no overlap with Spurs. I hope Harry wins every trophy he's competing in. Maybe I'll root against him next year if we manage to bag a CL spot.
