A good problem to have but now wondering how Texas makes this work if Powell returns and they add an INF transfer. Under that scenario, it was already assumed that Thomas might move to the OF.

Seems unlikely now.

Borba, transfer INF, and Flores might be battling for playing time.

Pierce made Carlson fight for a spot, can do it again this year. Flores and O’Dowd haven’t earned the right to not be in  position battles

Amazing. Felt like his dad being the head of HS scouting for the Dodgers precluded him from stepping foot on a college campus.

His Dad played for Tom Holliday at OKSt.   So respects the college game.

Can Powell play 2B?

All State catcher in high school.   Caught some his freshman year, iirc.

Catcher is an issue you gurus (said with respect) haven't addressed.   Schuessler is having a pretty good Summer at Heraldsburg (CCL) hitting .282 with alot of PT  Galvan has not received much PT as catcher at SBF mostly DH and !B and hitting .115.     Need Guillemette.

Summer ball can be an outlier,  either pro or con.   Guillemette hit about .200 at the Cape but had a solid year.

There’s a ton of position flexibility. Borba can play both corner IF spots. Same with Powell. Thomas can play the OF.

I see it this way right now:

Catcher: Guillemette or Galvan

1B: Thomas or Powell or even Galvan perhaps

2B: O’Dowd (followed by some freshman) or the transfer

3B: Borba or Powell

SS: Flores or Ardoin or Lane Allen or the transfer

RF: Belyeu or Gasparino or Thomas

CF: Cummings

LF: Belyeu or Gasparino or Duplantier

DH: Belyeu/Gasparino/Borba/Galvan/Duplantier

Pretty sure Gordon is gone. Drafted in the 6th round.

But if Texas survives 1 more round, I definitely think LBJ will be back.

Yep, C is the biggest question mark left. But if we get GG back we’re going to roster 5 of them? Schuessler moves on? Do both Service/Sanders stick there?

Sanders could end up in the OF long term.

Based on rumors here and OB, I think it's pretty evident Texas thought there was a chance Gordon would return.

Something must have changed. Did a team go over slot or Gordon just change his mind? Either way, getting 1 of Gordon or LBJ would be a huge win. I thought LBJ was the more likely to be gone.

Round 10 starting now.

Can we survive 1 more round for Witt, LBJ, Guillemette, Hurley, and Morehouse?

I think Morehouse is leaving even if it is taking the 150k min. The Woody Williams firing hurt that situation.

That would make sense and is Moorehouse worth the NIL to keep him? Great finish to the season but NIL allocation may make sense in other areas.

I just know we have a standing contract for him for our next board meeting. Its lucrative but prob not 6th round pick lucrative. Things change and my info is from predraft

His slot was just over 300k. How’s the reallocation work?

Pierce has never really had an issue with a hitting coach has he?

Tulo is back and Allen moved to pitching coach which is where that created issues. It's fairly obvious that pitching is Pierce's baby and he wants to be in control there.

Day is over and through 10 rounds.

It's hard to imagine there's a bigger winner so far in the draft than Texas. Potentially returning 2 weekend starters, a starting catcher, and getting 3 legit signees to campus?

Getting Witt and LBJ back is HUGE.

Borba and Gasparino is big too.

Been awhile since we’ve had this kind of ceiling on both sides of the ball.  Guillemette and Porter Brown are the 2 unknowns at this point.

1B Thomas

3B Powell

DH Borba

C Guillemette*

RF Brown*

CF Cummings

SS Flores

LF Gasparino

2B O’Dowd

Bench: Belyeu, Galvan, Duplantier, Sweeney, Sanders, Kennedy, Ardoin, O’Hara

Im not banking on Witt though until after tomorrow.  Lots of teams take guys in the 11th and offer them $1M+.

I would be very surprised if Witt isn't official. The way OB and Kendall Rogers are wording things makes it sound like Witt's circle has told people he's returning.
