Likely changes with our 2/3 or 3/3 and A&M’s 1/3 likely

Doubt it. The committee wants the eyeballs of a Texas in CS regional. They aren’t above just making it happening and justifying it later with moving teams up/down with some BS metric that changes year to year and team to team

A&M needs to fall lower to send us as a 2 there. Need to be 2 in a 12-14 regional. In Cali

Committee laughs at this. We have been paired up with aggy in postseason in some format now how many times this year?

soccer if aggy had won their second round

volleyball

men’s tennis

Softball super regionals if we both win our regionals

Last chance to make it happen

Regional as a 2 seed will likely be a challenge for us. 3 seed will throw their ace against us in Game 1 and if we win that we will definitely see the #1 seed's ace in the 2nd game. We struggle offensively against really good pitchers (a little duh there, but this team seems to have more variation than most on aces vs others).

Yeah, nothing is easy. Just ruminating because this team is so damn hard to figure. 0-2 would not surprise, neither would Omaha.

A&M just struck out 14 times in 6 innings on 98 pitches vs Hagen Smith on Thursday. Had 2 hits in those 6 innings. There is no secret formula to hitting a great pitcher, you just hope to have a couple calls on borderline pitches go your way and hope they are a little bit off.

The hallmark of the Pierce era it seems.

Yeah, I think a super regional is better suited for us.  You play 3 no matter what so you just have to win 1 of the first 2.  In the regional, we need to win the first two.  A 2 or a 3 seed doesn’t much matter as chances are we get the #1 guy in game 2.  So we need to avoid those teams with top end 1s.  And obviously us winning game 1 is no gimme.  Hard to imagine this team surviving the losers bracket.

I don't know how the hell we did it.  And our pitching staff and Pierce have shit the bed multiple times.  But looks like we're finishing #2 in the Big XII (admittedly, it was a down year in the league).  But we get on a roll in Arligton and we get a favorable seed and we've certainly seen goofier shit happen in the post-season.  Ah well, either way...fuck you Big XII...see you on the other side.  And congrats to our 'Horns on a solid finish to end the season.

Going to be Texas Tech game 1 of the Big 12 tournament on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. In other words, it will likely be a very late night.

Will be curious to see who we go with in game 1.

I’m guessing Ace?

Gage threw 36 innings in conference play this year without making a single start. 16 more innings than the next closest guy out of the pen which was Dre who had 20. Gage only threw 5.2 less innings than Lebarron who started 10 conference games.

The amount of stressful pitches Gage threw is pretty incredible. The offense did their thing most of the year, Ace, Max and Andre were obviously vital parts to this team being able to grind out series wins but without Gage consistently getting this team the final 6-9 outs pretty much every win, we would have been a .500 baseball team. Gage finished with 4 wins and 7 saves in conference play.

I read this in the LHN “he’s a longhorn legend” voice and it was pretty epic.

Pierce has done a great developing him. He will be a huge asset for next year.

I thought Grubbs and Dre pitched well enough for second team honors but I know that is nitpicking. Several of those starters on the second team had worse years statistically than Grubbs.
