LifeAlert... but no monthly fee and calls family instead?

Have an aging parent. Due to work, can't always be in close proximity. Looking for something that she can wear that can send me a call/text if she needs help. Think LifeAlert (Help, I've fallen, and I can't get up!). The only catch is LifeAlert carries a hefty monthly fee and also calls their call center -- not a family member.

I want something that will alert me instead so I can go check on her if needed and assess the situation. She won't always remember the phone when she gets up and can't always work it if she did have it with her. Instead, would love to just have a button she wears that she can press to let me know I'm needed.

Does this exist?

Check your mother's insurance. My mom had humana and they covered Lifeline 100%. It was also set up to call a service, but the one time she used it they called me first.

Don't be a cheap ass. My grandma had a fall and broke her femur. Left the cell phone inside the house so she was outside for 7 hours before someone heard her yell for help.

That is nightmare fuel.  So sorry that happened to grandma.
