Coming out next year for XBOX, PS5, and PC. Jedi Survivor type gameplay but you're a non-Jedi using a blaster. There's also ship combat.

Nah, this looks way better than Jedi Survivor which is really just a good looking Pitfall clone that crashes all the time.

Ubisoft going to Ubisoft this one all to hell.

Base game is like 80 bucks. Another edition is 109 and a top edition is 120.

Then the big mission with Jabba the Hut is locked behind the season pass, for more money.

Still remember growing up seeing $40 for a AAA title and thinking that was expensive.

1991 was an expensive year for me - I bought both Falcon 3.0 (Electronic Boutique) and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (Babbages), and one or both of them was heavily delayed, and the only way I knew this was calling the store employees or going in and bugging them.

I think both games were $40 apiece (but if you bought them directly from the publishers, they were $80), but holy fuck, I ended up spending all of my paper route money for a huge chunk of the year on a 486/33 upgrade to my computer, along with an Adlib (which was a mistake).  Falcon set on my shelf for months until I got the upgrade and could actually play it.

Ubisoft has done this enough to where I think it’s intentional. They will get some whales/suckers/parents of spoiled kids to pay the markup in the first year, but it wouldn’t surprise me if their economic modeling is based on the subsequent year and holiday season when the price drops to a reasonable level.

Welp, it's out now for the suckers who paid for early access. Full release on Friday. So far reviews are mixed, but more positive than negative. 77 on Metacritic.

Reports of typical release day bugs and crashes. There are some gameplay streams already out there if you wanna see how it plays and don't care about spoilers.

I think I will ultimately enjoy this one, but am in no hurry to drop $70. Per HowLongTo Beat, apparently only about 15 hours to complete the main story, 21 hours to complete main + side quests. I'll wait until it has been patched up a few times and price drops in half sometime next year.

This game is incredible.  I say that as someone who doesn't play games very often, so maybe my standards aren't as high.  I enjoyed Fallen Order and Survivor, and after about 10 hours in this I think it is on that level.

I'm close to 8 hours in, and really enjoying the games atmosphere. TBH stealth games aren't my bag, and the player character is too squishy to go all Kyle Katarn on them, but it's fun stealing from imps and thugs

Really looking forward to exploring the games universe, it looks great on my living room TV streaming off my PC using Moonlight and Sunshine

I completely ignored this game because I for some reason thought it was an MMORPG or something, and ain't nobody got time for that. Is this a single player game that as an almost 40 man who has been talking nonstop to a toddler for hours I can then sit down and play without interacting with any other humans?

Not an MMO or even really an RPG, but it does have RPG elements. It's an Ubisoft open world star wars game with an emphasis on stealth over rushing in and blasting everything. You certainly could go blast everything, but the player character is squishy.

It's a great bit of slipping into some star wars ass star wars, but it's also not bringing any groundbreaking new features. I'm having a blast and have finally gotten off the starting planet and had my choice of 3 next planets to explore. The planets have a good amount of stuff to explore and find, and my curiosity has been rewarded with some upgrade materials whenever I check around the corner or up that hill

Anybody also play Starfield previously? I've been looking at Outlaws but reminds me so much of Starfield I'm hesitant as game play looks very similar.

It won't be like Starfield. Starfield was a shitty Bethesda open-world RPG that feels like a chore to play. Outlaws is a copy/paste Ubisoft open worlder. If you like games like Farcry or the newer Assassin's Creed you'll probably like Outlaws. The combat looks kind of like GTA or Red Dead, tbh.

So if you like dumbed-down RPGs with good graphics and decent action and you like Star Wars you might enjoy it. It's literally designed for anyone that plays it to walk right in and have fun, but it might not hold your attention for very long or provide a particularly enriching experience.

That was how I felt about Cult of the Lamb.

Was fun, but after a while just kind of fades/over it and onto something else.
