game at A&M is on Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, Arkansas on November 16

In the past when the first schedule came out the game was always on Saturday, then closer to the season start date an announcement would be made moving it to Thursday, it will be interesting to see if that happens.

It's typically the second Saturday in October. It wasn't this year because reasons.

Could change obviously in the SEC.

Might be a chicken and egg thing. But if you go look at the last 20 years there are like 4 or 5 years where the game is not the 2nd saturday in October and it always lines up with the fair dates.

FYI the fair dates for 2024 are set.

I like playing on Friday after Thanksgiving but Saturday would be ok.  I really hope we don't go back to Thanksgiving day.

So much for the asinine texags theory that they would keep playing lsu on Thanksgiving weekend.

With the exception of the usually-irrelevant Egg Bowl, I think college football has now fully surrendered Thanksgiving Day (and night) to the NFL.

I wish they would, for this year. You just know there will be a bunch of bullshit about the bonfire collapse 25th anniversary. Nobody is better at turning dumbassery into victimhood and melodrama like the fucking Aggies.

I’d rather play aggy on Thanksgiving or Black Friday, but The Mouse wants no part of the NFL, and they can work around Fox because Michigan-Ohio State is always at 11am CST.

I assume it’ll be Iron Bowl at 230pm. Texas-aggy in primetime.

lol why is ND vs ATM a notable SEC matchup?

I mean, it’s a major non-con game as is Miami at Florida, which is also mentioned.

I assume you were able to generate this based on the process of elimination?

If true, I’m good with it. Plenty of breaks in the schedule with 2 byes and a mix of an easy opponent after a difficult opponent.

I really like Friday night for the "Thanksgiving" game.  we get a prime time slot almost all to ourselves and you get to watch Cowboys on Thursday and all the great games on Saturday.

The mouth breathers over at TD are already complaining that we have too easy an SEC schedule next year. How is that possible when every SEC game is supposed to be difficult.

The SEC went to great pains to explain this during the initial announcement. It’s based on conference winning percentage since 2012. Texas has sucked for the past 10 years. OU has not. All these regards had to do was go to the SEC website.

This schedule was given to me but it has one error at least:

  1. CSU, Michigan, UTSA, ULM, OU, Georgia, Arkansas, and atm are all scheduled
  2. Mississippi St. Plays UMass on Nov. 2
  3. Florida and Georgia play Nov. 2 so we already know that one is wrong

So if I make that one change you have

What would be a hard schedule? Tenn? LSU less Jayden Daniels? Turns out, a lot of the SEC is mediocre.

What the fuck, we play aggy on the road again??? After we ended the rivalry at their house. What dipshit negotiator allowed that to happen.

SEC during negotiations was like, that annoying guy over there is going to cry way too much already, can you beat them on the road again for the first game and do us a solid?

this has been known.  aggy would have shit a brick if we forced austin on the 25th anniversary of the bonfire and the 1st year in SEC.

The SEC just decided not to deal with the idiots on it.

If the SEC traded aggy a home game for a yes vote to make Texas and OU unanimous, I’d be pissed. I understand conference unity and that, but this isn’t the Politburo. Every vote doesn’t have to be unanimous. If anything an aggy no vote being publicly reported would have let the entire nation know we live in their heads rent free. I’m sure it’ll come out in Sharp’s autobiography ghost written by Brent Z.

Yeah, when I first saw that---my brain immediately went into "how the fuck are we gonna get around town that weekend?"

We're still doing that gondola thing in 2024, right Austin?
