LSU has to find a way to win this one or they're in big trouble tomorrow. After Floyd, LSU doesn't have much of anything from a starters perspective and Florida will have Waldrep or Sproat.

Either way, just getting to game 3 would still require Skenes to pitch well on really short rest.

Sproat may be done for CWS unless there's a rainout due to pitch count rules...

pretty sure he threw at least 111 pitches tonight

What if I told you a pitcher had 15 K"s through 7 innings, and his offense had sent over 40 guys to the plate...

And he was losing

And he doesn't look to be getting tired.

But if I understand the rules, he's done. He hit 110 pitches.

LOL Yeah I think he might be done, as well

Would have to be several rainouts. He couldn't pitch again until Wednesday.

Skenes available tomorrow or nah?

Florida looks kinda overmatched.

That’s a quick turnaround coming off 120 pitches. I guess it’s possible though

As has been mentioned, there's a rule that prevents it.  Three days rest if >110, I believe.

Don't know how you count the three days.

Is there really? When did they start that? I get it, it protects pitchers, but I’m not a fan of that

Looks like enacted in 2018 but this is first year effective?

Because?

They put in rules to protect pitchers arms.

NCAA rules state 110 pitches is max. As far as I understood it, he wasn't supposed to come back after ending the inning when he hit the limit.

You're misunderstanding the rule.

Okay, walk off time.

Or 8 scoreless innings.

One of the two, I'm sure.

He looks great. But, I mean by NCAA rules, he wasn't supposed to go back out.

Yeah but remember pitcher for TREE... 🙄

Spoiler

Stanford starting pitcher Quinn Mathews had quite an outing on Sunday. In an 8-3 victory over Texas in the NCAA Super Regionals, Mathews threw a career-high 156 pitches and registered 16 strikeouts in a complete game.

Apparently I am.

I haven't found the actual rule, just an article talking about the rule. There must be some nuance to it.

That's ridiculous.

You can throw 500 pitches in a game. You just have a mandatory 3 day rest period afterwards, because you exceeded 110 pitches.

110+ pitches requires I believe 3 days rest but it isn't a hard cap

It's why Florida really has to win this game so they don't run into Skenes.

Fisher was dealing but Florida is probably regretting sticking with a lefty/righty situation against White when they still had this guy in the pen.

Probably wanted to have Neely to close tomorrow or Game 3

As I read 3 days rest is supposed to apply to 76-110 pitches.

Wonder what the count was for the Texas pitcher against Boston College several years ago.  He was tough.
