Your take irritates me because Dems (read Hillary) in the 90’s began raising the flag about healthcare costs being too high, and she was rewarded by Rush demonizing her 24/7.

Obama and Joe got ACA in and spent much of their political capital doing so while the stupids watched foxnews as they demonized obamacare. Ted cruz built a career on his promise to overturn obamacare. ACA is the single most impactful legislation in my lifetime.

Dems have blown so much political capital on healthcare while the stupids turn on foxnews, talk shit on obamacare, and sign up for ACA without an ounce of self awareness.

The problem is the american populace is immeasurably stupid.

And HRC got run out of town. Look, ACA was a great accomplishment in theory and to an extent in reality but it has one fatal flaw - it allowed private profiteering companies to maintain a stranglehold on healthcare.

it really is the Republican plan which is why it has never been repealed.

secondarily, nothing has been done about big pharma. You go to the doctor and get a script no one gives a fuck about nutrient deficiencies, diet changes, exercise, and studies are way lacking on the things that can help without harsh expensive drugs. Our research system is as broken as our clinical system. Quick examples, quercetin, vitamin c and zinc show extreme promise in stopping the cytokine storm in post covid syndrome. How far has that research been taken? Mice that’s it. What about hemp/CBD, more promise, limited studies. That’s my recent experience but the lack of research on the free stuff is maddening.  You can find almost any condition and the cost effective treatments are understudied and if it’s natural forget about it. FDA is bought and controlled by oligarchs, and most common folk feel it hate it and know nothing is being done. Instead they get harsh drugs that may have their place but they are the only option and most treat symptoms not the cause. Common folk trump supporting people’s reaction is bullshit but look, Dems don’t go far enough.

I used to think the Bernie faction was too much, I don’t anymore. I think the only answer is true, radical, for the common folk platforms.

we need radical reform for common folk. Until the dems become that they risk losing the working and middle class voters.

This.   Dems have to stop being on their back foot for their policies just because the right demonizes them due to "team".  It probably belongs in the New Democratic Platform thread, but I'd put at top or near top of list: "Stop Apologizing and Start Attacking."  People want to be hit over the head, not rationalized with.  Start hitting the stupids over the head with how this new administration is going to hurt them from day 1.  You'll never win over the racists and the christofascists whose single issue is fear of the other and abortion, respectively.  But there are stupids out there who don't fall into those two categories that voted for Trump and Obama.  Get them back.

Trump won identifying and attacking an enemy, 2-3 really, immigrants, queer folk and extreme leftists. Dems have to do the same, intense attacking language the enemy is the billionaire oligarchs. Show their yachts their opulent houses their net worth, their political donations and attack them and the politicians they own.

Us vs Them

that’s the playbook.

Classic battered wife syndrome.  Why not blame the criminal instead of the victim?

not really the same thing. we clearly can't get rid of the republican party like we can call the cops on the wife beater and have him arrested. pretty poor analogy. the dems lost the working class vote... why?

that's a way more important question to ask an answer than blaming the republicans for being meanies and taking the vote from us. because pointing the finger at republicans ain't gonna get that vote back. change in policy, change in direction, change in emphasis, and better communication will be what gets it back. and yeah, that's all on the dems.

Someone needs to send him a couple kilos of fentanyl.  For scientific purposes.

And instruct him to leave some laying around the White House.  For Don Jr.

Kimmel ran a clip of some old Korean lady butchering “America the Beautiful” at the Hispanic Inaugural Ball from Sat night. In the background is RFK Jr with Cheryl Hines. I thought she’d kicked his ass to the curb.

The couple of enemies that were used against the left were easy targets that the left had no answer for. The dems want to save EVERYONE at once and in the mean time left too many spots to be attacked. In trying to save the world they lost everything. Pare down the base talking points of "wokeism" to win the office and then do the good you want to get accomplished. If its truly as good as you say then defend it at the next election. If its not, well... At some point the left has to understand that America hasn't gotten to where it needs to be and its not moving very fast, but it is moving. As you see we aren't afraid to go backwards if we don't like the path ahead. People are easy to manage if you talk to them and not at them. The dem message comes across as talking at us.

agreed 100%. adding that Biden's Admin did a terrible job communicating what they were doing and they did a lot to help folks yet Trump get's to demonize groups, claim to be there to help the working class, then win the vote and pull the rug out from underneath them.  that vacuum left by poor communication and what was left of the aftershocks of inflation was the breeding ground for what happened.
