BTW, I've noticed that in the old days, a lot of stars played a lot of random positions.  I read this summer in Willie's biography that Alvin Dark would occasionally play Mays at SS and 3B in extra inning games.  Cobb played everything except SS and C in his career, Mantle played everything except C, Eddie Collins played every OF position, Gehrig played SS and corner OF, etc.   Yet that kind of thing seems to have gone away in the 70s -- Dave Winfield never even pitched.  I guess Bench played everywhere, but that was Sparky's way of "resting" him, and Rose played everywhere because he wasn't particularly good (or awful) at any position.   Other than those two guys, not much else...
