By my half-assed internet research the chopper that went down was a Fort Worth built Huey that is a civilian/comfort version of the whirlybirds our pappies flew in the jungle

Is it ironic that Iranian leaders chant “death to USA” while they fly around in our old castoff shit? Couldn’t they buy some nicer shit from China?
For historic perspective this a car designed and built at the same time as the introduction of the Huey.

That example of yours is 20 years too new.

Huey first flew in 1956.

Disgusting that the UN Security Council and the US representative stood up for a moment of silence for the Butcher of Tehran. They should stand in silence for the thousands of Iranians he has killed. How tone deaf is the UN when the people of Iran are celebrating that this cocksucker is dead.

Pretty ironic that you would use the term cocksucker as some kind of pejorative.

Seroiusly, I'll never understand that. Outside of being a teenager and being eager to fuck anyone who will let you, what sexually experienced adult prefers to fuck a virgin? That's got to take some serious, weapons grade level fucking insecurity.

IN that culture, it's the 'ownership' aspect of it.  It's knowing that you were the first.  It's a form of emotional slavery/domination.

I mean I understand that, on an intellectual level. But good sex with a willing partner who know what they're doing is the fucking best. Even if you're a depraved piece of shit who wants chattel in real life, we talkin' 'bout HEAVEN.

Makes the conspiracy theory about this not being an accident blaze that much brighter…

...not the Eli Copter Mossad stupidity, but the internal Iranian power struggle where Khamenei's son would have a larger reason to support the President's death for his own personal/political gain.

This could get interesting.  I wonder how much Khamenei senior knew or was involved.

They’re women. Few men in their world give a fuck what they think.

If this was that, there’ll be another revolution, another regime change, and it’ll be better for all of us. We will encourage the fuck out of and aid revolutionaries and we should.

Reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian has won Iran’s presidential election, the country’s electoral authority said Saturday, defeating his hardline rival in a pivotal vote amid heightened tensions both domestically and internationally.

Understanding that “reformist” in Iranian politics - which only allows candidates approved by the “Guardian Council” - means “we should only beat women half to death, instead of all the way to death,” we know how this will go.
Iran’s only chance is if/when the people actually rise up and murder the islamofascist leadership, and not a moment before that.

Guessing they moved/removed some ballast to get to the shaft, but forgot to adjust moorings. Boat got reeeeal top-heavy.

If you are going to access the ships shaft and expose the area where it penetrates the hull, that needs to be done in dry dock.

But I'm sure all the electrical and mechanical gear will be fine with salt water exposure.  Heck, looking at the picture the shaft may be accessible now.

Imagine what Iran would look like today if the British and Americans weren’t so offended by Iran nationalizing their natural resources in the 50s.

What was the genesis of that?  From my limited understanding, the cold war was in full effect.  Iranian oil helped the allies defeat the Axis.   Were we fearful of Iran distancing from that and partnering/supplying the communists?

The Shah was more sympathetic to the west since we put him in power but the collateral damage was more autocracy than democracy, correct?

I believe we end up in the same place, the Iranians would have moved further from the west over time and into the hands of Russia.  I say all of that as a total amateur on ME history

There was a huge swath of time when like 60% of the World's population lived in a country that called itself "Communist."*  And the Russians/Cubans/Chinese were starting shit in many of those other 40% nations.  For that reason I'll give America some grace before judging us for getting it wrong a few times.

And just about EVERY Middle Eastern country is a mess.  They don't need our meddling to achieve that.

*Most of those countries weren't Communist of course.  They just called themselves Communist to lend legitimacy and and curry favor.  Doesn't matter if they were/were not Communist.  They were aholes just the same.

basically the brits gave iran a raw deal for their oil - the british navy got it essentially for free and there was a lot of other fuckery involved such that iran was getting completely screwed. then aramco gave the saudis a pretty good deal for their oil, and iran realized just how badly they got screwed. the brits wouldn't budge. so mossadegh nationalized the anglo-iranian oil company (a precursor to BP). churchill was big mad, and started trying to red scare truman. truman wouldn't have any of it (mossadegh fucking hated the communists and truman's secretary of state thought the brit position was that they would have iran's oil or no one would). but allen dulles and john foster dulles were receptive. so when john foster dulles becomes secretary of state under ike, and allen got promoted to CIA director, they started a coup.

if the dulles brothers had told the president of exxon to go give iran the same deal aramco gave the saudis i very much doubt we end up at the same place. iran was not at all friendly with an imperial power just on the other side of the caucasus in the 1800s and early 1900s, and the soviets tried to pull a donbas/transnistria just after WW2.
