Eddie Crowder

Crowder was another of the many All-America players at Oklahoma.  The lightning-quick Crowder gained All-American honors in 1952.  Crowder started at quarterback and safety in 1951 and 1952.  In 1951 Crowder completed 51 passes while throwing but one interception.  While playing a supporting role, Crowder was also a member of Oklahoma’s first national championship team in 1950.

Honestly I have no clue who this guy is, but google tells me he’s the best #16 at OU.

Crowder was an assistant coach under Red Blaik at Army in 1955 and for Bud Wilkinson back at Oklahoma for seven seasons (19561962). In January 1963 at age 31, he became the head coach of the Buffaloes; his initial contract was for five years at $15,000 per year.[3][4] He restored the program's respectability and earned national respect while rebuilding the program.

In Crowder's ninth season in 1971, CU was third in the nation at 10–2, behind only Big Eight rivals Nebraska (1) and Oklahoma (2). This was the first time that two teams from the same conference topped the final poll,[5] and it remains as the only time that a conference had the top three.

Crowder currently has the third best record as head coach at Colorado at 67–49–2 (.576). His teams went to five bowl games while he was head coach: the 1967 Bluebonnet (W), 1969 Liberty (W), 1970 Liberty (L), and 1971 Astro-Bluebonnet (W), 1972 Gator (L). He assumed the athletic director duties in 1965, retired from coaching in 1973, and hired his three replacements: Bill Mallory (1974–1978), Chuck Fairbanks (1978–1981), and most importantly, Bill McCartney (1982–1994), CU's all-time winningest coach at 93–55–5 (.624).

The sooners scrimmaged again yesterday and the offense still sucked. They're dealing with a lot of injuries on the OL and at WR, but they're not calling any of them serious besides the WR that went down for the season. They're also apparently canceling the third scrimmage scheduled this weekend because they're having wide spread depth issues and injury concerns. Here's the update from Sooners Illustrated:

With just over two weeks remaining ahead of the season opener on August 30th, Oklahoma held their second official scrimmage of fall camp on Wednesday afternoon in Norman.

Intel is coming into Sooners Illustrated on how things went, so without further delay let's get into it:

– The top question everyone is going to immediately have, of course, was if this scrimmage was more balanced than the first one, in which the defense virtually dominated from start to finish. To put it simply, this scrimmage was more evenly matched than the first one - but still heavily led by the defense. A source described the action as still being "dominated" by the defense but with the offense being more overall productive than the first time, with them breaking through into the endzone "a few times" as opposed to just the once on Friday.

– Quarterback Jackson Arnold, similarly to the offense, also had a better day overall but still with some struggles mixed in. Arnold threw another interception at the very beginning of the action, but in total had a better outing. This is all to be expected for a first-year starting quarterback going against an experienced defense - without starters at both offensive line and wide receiver (more on that below). It's all a learning curve for him right now. And no, there is no quarterback controversy here. Arnold is 100 percent the guy in Week 1.

– Some important context to all this to keep in mind as well is the offense is extremely banged up right now - in particular along the offensive line. True freshman Josh Aisosa got the start at center on Wednesday in place of Branson Hickman, who is one of a medley of guys dealing with some "bumps and bruises" as Brent Venables termed it on Tuesday. The wide receiver room is also dealing with some injuries as well, so Oklahoma is playing it safe with that position following Jayden Gibson's season-ending knee injury.

– With all that in mind, I'm told there is a very real possibility that OU will skip out on what is supposed to be their third and final scrimmage on Saturday. That is not set in stone, by any means, but is possible as they try and keep guys rested. None of the injuries, outside of Gibson, are serious but the Sooners still want to be cautious and doing so wouldn't be unheard of by any stretch. We'll see if they end up electing to go through with it, but the fact it's a discussion should give everyone an idea of the how banged up some spots are and how physical this camp has been this month.

The D is either ‘85 Bears level or the offense is ass.  Likely the latter.

You will never make it as a 9.95er.

Arnold will probably be good, but there is no telling how long it will take. If it’s four weeks, they’re golden. It will probably take more than four weeks.

Josh Heupel

A consensus All-American in 2000, Heupel captured the Associated Press Player of the Year and Walter Camp Award. During his two seasons as the starting quarterback at Oklahoma from 1999-2000, Heupel posted a 20-5 record. He passed for 7,456 yards and 53 touchdowns.

Not one of my favorite players, but he did bring us our last natty so he gets a pass.

Sooners, speaking of Heupel, how do y'all feel about him returning to Norman this season when y'all play Tennessee?

I am just not a fan of his. He seemed butt hurt when he got let go, which is understandable I guess. But there is just something about him I do not like. Maybe that he is a fat turd and dressed up like Batman. I think it will be an amazing game, I just worry about our offense. Defense will be the best it’s been in 15 years. But that’s not saying much .IMG_2863.jpeg.e786228ce5806da9dba308b814f3ad83.jpeg

Caleb Williams

i can do without all of the fingernail painting shit and whatnot, but over all he’s one of the most dominant quarterbacks I have ever seen play. He made the list mainly for what he did against the longhorns in the cotton bowl. He won the game for us by himself.

Although Caleb Williams is a great example of the type that gets out of Oklahoma when they can, I have another archetype- the Texan recruited to Oklahoma, mouths off about Texas, and discovers after spitting the bit against Texas that he is kind of stuck there.

R.D. Kaspar was a kicker from Plano. He bragged about how OU would whip Texas, in the 1990 RRS, and is mainly remembered for missing the winning FG as time ran out (replayed about once per week for years on the LHN). He now lives in Edmond, Oklahoma.

If Riley had kept albino boy Rattler in the game Oklahoma loses. Caleb saved y'all not only in that game, but ya'll's season too.

Story time: a college kid that worked at my restaurant went to high school with Marvin Mims and played football with him. He's good friends with him and they still talk almost every day. Anyways, he told me that season he went up to Norman one weekend(OU's bye week) to visit Marvin. He met Caleb at a party and told me that he was giving off huge gay vibes. He said, "and Caleb was talking about a lot of weird fetish shit. It was kinda creepy." Any man that paints his nails pink, red, white etc. is sus af.

There are many stories about his fetishes. It was widely known he was a bit of a kink. He loves some feet. But I had a couple friends who partied with him and said he was a normal dude, you can’t say the same thing about Rattler. He was a bitch.

I remember after y'all came back to win in 2021 instead of celebrating with Caleb and the team, Rattler ran off to the locker room. Here the guys are playing with the golden hat and he's on his way up the tunnel. What a bitch and a bad sport.

This was an easy one. Great kid all around. Real lunch pail guy. Was never going to be the tallest or fastest in the team, but was very consistent catching the ball.

Yep. Didn't get an invite to the NFL combine and only got drafted to the UFL Arlington Renegades because daddy Bob is the head coach. Nepotism indeed.

Also, his total stats in 6 games against Texas: 87 total rec yards, 1 TD... that's it?!

But he could ball! So all good!

Citing police reports and court documents, the Tulsa World reported that in 2012 before arriving at Oklahoma, Westbrook was accused of throwing the mother of two of his children to the ground. Then in 2013, according to the Tulsa World, Westbrook was accused of biting the same woman's arm and punching her in the jaw.

Uh huh. More likely some restaurant owner, lawyer, judge, AD, school president and all the fans covered up subsequent wife beating up there.

But like I said, he helped you win football games so what do you scumbags even care?

Can I ask you a serious question? How do you think I really feel about a guy hitting a girl? Do you think I’m just ok with it? What do you want me to do about a player doing bad shit? Should I run down to Norman and waive my fist in the air in front of the stadium? Of course it is totally unacceptable.

Years ago, on the Barking Carnival, Scipio noted that the Sooners were ok recruiting a certain amount of thugs and punks, if they could play well. (They absolutely won’t tolerate that behavior from a meh player. Ask Justin Chaisson). A lot of Sooners commented in protest, that it wasn’t so, that Texas was no better.

After Peterson, after Mixon, after Brooks, the Sooners can’t really protest the claim. All they can do is own it, and point to the wins.

What do we want you to do? Just own it.

Oh we’re being serious ok. Typical mindless Nazi soldier response. It wasn’t me. I couldn’t have done anything.

Did you stop buying tickets? Stop buying apparel? Voice even the mildest, most polite concerns to the AD? Stop watching the sooner scumbags? Even relay your disdain to your family and friends? Anything beyond claiming to have made a meaningless anonymous post on an anonymous sports site that even if it were true wouldn’t do a damn thing anyway? My educated guess to all of that is a resounding no.

There’s a reason cheating and criminality have been going on in Norman since WWII, because you people want wins at all costs and won’t ever push back. The powers that be know that full well. Dede Westbrook isn’t even the tip of the iceberg.

I think Wilkinson built that program by increasing the professionalism of the coaching, compared to peers, more than lawlessness. I have the game program from the ‘51 RRS. OU has ten assistant coaches. Texas had five.

Now, Switzer cheated like an SOB. He had to- any time he tried inserting any coaching judgment, he fucked things up.
