I don’t really know who he is, but that pissy little manlet showed up in my feed about a month or so ago and I watched a few minutes of the video. He was walking a weird tightrope of begrudgingly acknowledging Texas as a potential contender, but also shitting on us. The effeminate look and whiny sound of him was annoying right away, but the thing that made me turn it off was a comment along the lines of, “Believe it or not, Texas is actually a somewhat respectable academic institution.”  Strong aggy vibes, or maybe Sooner. Didn’t refer to Texas as a liberal school, so I’ll guess Sooner. Dork.

RJ is a longtime gooner douchebag troll... he constantly puts Texas in titles to get more clicks.

Just look at a follow-up title to a new video

I've seen that Sooner scumbag pop up in my results and watched a few videos.  It's crystal clear he is loading up his Texas takes solely for hits.  I have no problem with an OU analyst being a homer or anti-Texas.  In fact, I get it.  But to make like six videos about the game, make sure all six say Texas, and then just repeat the same repetitive nonsense where he is just saying OU are going to get rolled but it's a rivalry so I hope I am wrong.

Like someone else said - Venables is their Charlie Strong.  I look forward to their hiring of Sterlin Gilbert and attempt to refurbish the offense after this season is over.

The difference is the portal.  How many offensive players don't commit or portal in after watching this shit shot this year - new hire or not.  Same with talent that is there.  Do I stay around another year or portal to a better offensive scheme/philosophy.  I mean - Gabriel seemed to make a pretty good business decision last year.

Someone needs to edit this gif where Christmas presents fly out of Bowman’s pockets when he slides a la the Bomar classic.

Stoops brought a relish to the rivalry that Mack couldn’t/wouldn’t match. He enjoyed crowing over wins and leaned into beat downs when he had the upper hand.

Sark was shooting to hit 40 in his second half play calling. He doesn’t give a shit about feelings or appearances in this game. Rolling into the press conference, post game, eating a corn dog isn’t quite the same kind of trolling as taking a team photo under the scoreboard (like OU did in 2000), but it’s in the right direction.

The college football landscape has fundamentally changed. Problems with their coaching staff can be short term and fixed in a year or two if they get lucky. How to stop being a bunch of poors is the more daunting challenge. When your state population is ~4M and the chief drivers of your local  economy are doublewides and meth, you're going to have a hard time competing on the NIL front with schools like Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, etc... TLDR: Fuck OU.

I’m not sure Seth Littrell is the problem at OU.  He’s having to make chicken salad out of chicken shit right now at QB.  Also, their WR’s have been decimated.

agree, but you can't leave out their biggest issue which is OL.  They appear to be trying to fix via recruiting and portal, but it's going to be 1-2 more years. Without that improving, nothing else matters for them.

To be fair since he left UNT they have posted the 6th best offense (2023) and are currently the 5th best offense this year so perhaps he was addition by subtraction.

It's still wild how OU went from the 3rd most prolific offense last year to top 10 worst offense this year.

Throwing the double pass up 27-3 with zero chance that their offense would get them back in the game was totally uncalled for. And I fucking loved it.

Also I find Oregon annoying AF usually however I think it would be amazing if they can win the Big Ten this year in their first year and we can win the SEC in our first year.  Maybe OU go 1-7 or 2-6 in SEC play and you have the holy Sooner trinity.

Gabriel hid a lot of their issues by playing hero ball.  We knew that they weren't the better team last year as evidenced by our season versus their season.

It's not unlike what happened to us from 2009 to 2010.

You’re missing context on the corn dog bit. BV is a health nut and was asked if he had ever had a fletchers corn dog, he said no, but would eat one when OU won.  So Sark coming into the press conference with a corn dog was a Daniel Day Lewis “I drink your milkshake!” Move.

Sadly that’s the reason I think they’ll get better. Aggy would deny reality rather than admit Texas is better than them which means Texas will always be better than them. Those fucking okies will do whatever they can to fix it. Here’s hoping that it takes them a decade or two to figure out what that solution looks like.

I'd actually push back on the uncalled for bit a little bit. Venables elected to go for it on 4th down well inside OU's own territory, down 24 in a game that was very much decided and where his offense had accomplished less than jack shit.

Put the ball there and I'm happy to hand the ball off to a backup RB three times. Honest to god they had a better chance of scoring through punting and trying to strip the ball on defense. You want to call the game like the outcome is still in doubt? You want me to risk injury with Georgia looming next week in keeping my defense - a unit that has thoroughly detonated your offense - out not only for another play but potentially at least 3 more if you convert? Fuck you then, I'll remind you the outcome is not in doubt.

I agree the actual playcall was hilariously disrespectful given what Golden did with it earlier. I'm sure he was begging for another chance. I think the football gods agree with me on the last paragraph though seeing as Helm made a pretty improbable catch with multiple OU defenders actually ID'ing the play that time.

I hope and can half-believe that we are witnessing phase I of our breaking OU. Not broken as badly as UNL, but dropped from their perch nevertheless. The 12-team format rewards being the big dog of a conference. OU's following us to the SEC means that their days of being "the" big dog in Big8/Big12 are definitively over. They have a significant fan base and non-zero state commercial support for NIL, but they are unlikely to match what we can now do for D/FW guys and other contested potential players. They have been living on "Sooner Magic," the mystical power of pre-NIL cheating and/or dominating MBTF/FUPM squads (followed by the dark days of Strong Tom). They don't have an unfair advantage or a functionally retarded opposing coach to help them. Their recipe for success, regardless of their own perception of it, has been based on bullying, cheating, and our beta behavior at the CB. Now they have tier 2 NIL, a blue blood reputation, proximity to Dallas, and the prestige of being in a P2 conference. But now they can be bullied, and our having a down year won't give them freebie shots at national prominence, should it occur: Bama, UGA, etc. are all going to be elbowing for the front of the conference position. A great coach could still lift them to great seasons. But they may not be fortunate enough to find a great many great coaches, and I am here for it. I hope/think they may be headed toward post-cheating A&M-level long-term success.

Let’s beat them twice in a row first, though.

I love this. Every time the Sooners start fishing around for their hero to save them and land upon Cale Gundy,…aaah. Chef’s kiss.

Cale Gundy was hired as a position coach in 1999, as a legacy hire, worked almost a quarter century for one of college football’s most successful programs, and never got a promotion. Yes, his opinion is what is called for.

This is an excellent description of what they do, really. I read the Cale Gundy threads that pop up on Sooners Illustrated every time they face adversity. It’s bizarre.

I would not give one fuck what Major Applewhite or Rod Wright cared to offer about what they think Texas is doing wrong, and both are far more accomplished than the lesser Gundy.

You can tell Ikard wants to say a whole lots of things about Littrell, but is eating them.  They gave themselves hope before the game because they cherry picked 3-4 busted plays by the Texas defense and convinced themselves OU could take advantage of them.  I wonder if Teddy still thinks Hill avoids contact?
