Can't help but think that's nothing more than wishcasting.

Most likely.

At any rate, what have we seen from Venables that suggests he can make a good hire? I mean, he could get lucky but he doesn’t seem to know how to hire an offensive staff at all.

They must be telling Venables that he has to branch out from his Friends & Family and not hire some middling career assistant that he worked with once at Clemson or something.

I’m pulling for the Tulsa OC

I think it’s going to be Mullen

To be the OC?! Why the hell would he do that? He could make a comparable salary at ESPN and work 2-3 days a week.

He’s subtly hinted that he’s bitter at how things ended Florida, but I don’t think that’s enough fuel to take an OC job at a dying program.

with the news of his wife's cancer returning.. maybe they want Mullen not just to be the OC but Assistant HC in case he needs to take some time off?

If he brought the offense back he will be the hottest coach and could pick what job he wants. Now I know thats damn near impossible, so I get why he wouldn’t. But there’s just too much smoke around it. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. But from what I’ve heard he is the guy.

Just a hunch, but Venables doesn’t want to be there right now given all that’s going on.

I think if OU offered him half of his buyout, they’d shake hands and part ways.

All things considered, I would take that if I were him, especially on whatever the real diagnosis of his wife is.

HC is a 24/7/365 job anymore to the point it kind of sucks, except for the money.  I could see him wanting to step away.

This. Amazing what can happen when two parties negotiate a situation like this in good faith.

Wouldn’t blame him one bit if he stepped down and took an admin type role or some shit.

If I'm not mistaken, this is his wife's second time with cancer and that's never a good sign.  If I were him, I might wonder if I'd rather spend the next ten years with family or chasing dumb ass teenagers around football camps.

Guys, hear me out.

May I suggest Tom Herman?

I was listening to Lehman and Ikard this week or last. And one of them asked the other is the Mizzou loss was the low point of the season.  The other responded yeah probably but being down 7-0 to Maine at home wasn't far down the list

When it rains it pours I guess.... Imagine losing a 'croot to a school with a 1-9 record....

Sperry is very bad - the higher the level he's played at, the worse he looks. Sounds like OU just likes Texas State's QB commit more and thinks they can flip him since he's from Muskogee.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like this in my football life.

For those keeping score, thats 5 starting/heavy rotation wideouts, 3 starting oline, 2 starting defensive backs, and a possible starting running back out tonight.

This team was destined for mediocrity this season, but these injuries took any chance of competitive football away.

Why so many injuries?  I mean, you'll get injuries during the season but literally the top 5 WR's plus everyone else?  Are they doing something different there that other teams aren't?

I don’t know but I’ve never been less interested in watching a prime time game against Alabama.

So of those are opt outs champ, but keep thinking OU is unlucky. I’d love to see Venables coach out the rest of his contract.
