I get why a Stoops plays for blOU.  But I have never understood how anyone that lives in Texas chooses to play for the land thieves.

Brent Venables on freshman star Peyton Bowen

OCT 2, 2023

PEYTON’S PLACE

One of the more bizarre recruiting developments in the 2023 class centered on Peyton Bowen, the sublime talent who long was committed to Notre Dame, then was reported as committed to Dan Lanning and Oregon before Bowen finally signed with Oklahoma.

It extended beyond National Signing Day and possessed a rare level of drama in recent recruiting developments.

But Bowen is already making a tremendous impact for Brent Venables and Oklahoma, which is undefeated headed into this week’s ‘Red River Rivalry’ – formerly ‘Red River Shootout’ before political pressures caused a name-change for the venerable series.

Bowen already owns a pair of blocked punts this season for Oklahoma, including in Saturday’s 50-20 romp of Iowa State.

“The little details of the game are not too much for him,” Venables said. “A lot of times for freshmen, they are. What I love about Peyton is he comes every day and he's hungry. He wants to help in any way. He’s really a selfless guy. He’s an instinctual guy and a good football player. He just makes plays. Scheme-wise, he understands the details and the precision that is required, and then he's skilled on top of that.”

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables gave an injury report on Monday night after practice, and the news isn't good.

While offensive guard McKade Mettauer, who left the Texas game with a protective boot on his left foot with what Venables called an "ankle sprain," will be "back sooner rather than later," Venables said, the news wasn't wasn't nearly as hopeful for leading receiver Andrel Anthony.

Venables said Anthony, who went down in the fourth quarter with a leg injury, would need "season-ending surgery."

Mettauer is a fifth-year senior and three-year starter after transferring from Cal. He's started at right guard every game this year and is among the team leaders in total snaps.

Anthony is a transfer from Michigan and a Detroit native who leads the Sooners with 429 yards receiving and ranks second with 27 catches.

It's pretty much a given people steal signs.  Using electronic means to do so is NOT ok, and Vegetables has never been accused of that.  Now none of this is as good as Mike Leach 'losing' his playbook and letting UT find it before OU/TX.  Now, that is fucking greatness.  RIP coach.

The ESPN report points to Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables, who was on the Clemson staff in 2019, as someone who has been implicated as a sign stealer by multiple unidentified sources.

The report credits sources as saying that Clemson sent people to scout the Tigers during the SEC title game and Peach Bowl that season.

When the two teams faced off on Jan. 13, 2020 in the CFP title game, the Tigers' Joe Burrow-led offense started the game with three consecutive drives that ended in punts.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron then reportedly told offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger to "Change it up" and use different signals.  Once those changes were made, LSU put up five touchdowns on five its next six drives

The days before OU game, BV was pretty chipper... I thought he must know something about our tendencies that no one else had noticed, or had spies at our practices (not the first time it ever happened) or the like. Maybe he had Sark's opening script...

Or maybe he knew that we were a bunch of bitchmade pussies who couldnt score from the one yard line and would fold like a cheap suit if OU needed a 2 minute drill to win the game.

He'll play and have the best game of his career. 🤬

Yeah this article says he's expected to play Saturday:

Oklahoma Sooners top receiver Jalil Farooq was arrested Thursday night in Norman following a traffic stop, according to KWTV News 9 in Oklahoma City.

Farooq was pulled over at around 9 p.m. Thursday for what police said were an expired paper tag and erratic driving before authorities ultimately found that the star wideout had several outstanding municipal warrants—leading to an arrest without incident.

Officials from the Cleveland County Sheriff's office said that those warrants were for charges such as an improper turn, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to appear in court for a ticket for driving over a curb.

Farooq was ultimately released on bond.

The junior wideout—who leads the Sooners with 449 receiving yards—is still expected to play Saturday in Oklahoma's final Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma State as members of the Big 12 before the former leaves to the SEC in 2024.

Literally zero programs, including Texas, is suspending a player for traffic tickets dude.

OU is a blight on America and a shitstain across the Midwest but you’re right. Ain’t no one suspending him for that.

The outrage on college gameday and big noon will be real though. How OU can let him play is unfathomable. Get ready for the media backlash. Lol.
