Do you have actual Mexicans? That helps.

Yes.  Majority of the work force in swine and construction, both of which are pretty massive here.

And this place is run and almost entirely staffed by the same Mexican family.

Son wanted breakfast but I didn't have any breakfast meats in the house. But I did have bologna. And Duke's.

Apologies for the plastic plate and metal fork.

Not every breakfast has meat, but every meat can be breakfast meat.

Fine for Iowa.  It’s nothing special but it hits the spot and I’m glad to have it.

Yeah but you got Ted’s Coney Island.  And fried pork tenderloins.  And corn fed beef.
loose meats suck though.

Accurate on all points.

I hate loose meats, but we make tavern burgers which are ground beef in a sauce made of ketchup, mustard, vinegar and stuck in a crock pot all day.  Pretty damn good

I let the bacon roll a few shades beyond DoD flaccid hog noodle.

I loved Flaccid Hog Noodle's debut but it was all downhill from there.

This is a beautiful dish that exemplifies the spirit of this thread. It says, “I have nothing else to live for.”

Actually, it meekly says "I need some cheese."  Because then, it would like the perfect concoction, perhaps my favorite dish of all time: the stirred together chili gravy, cheese, onions, and jalapenos, mixed with mexican rice, at the end of eating your enchilada plate.  A spoonful of that might be the last bite of food I'd ask for on this earth.

Spoon? There's a basket of chips on your table, sir.

My wife's aunt in Ottumwa makes kicks ass Zacatecan food like the rest of her family. If you ever find yourself stuck there in need of the softest rice of your life, let me know. I think she's single too, unless I'm confusing her with the Missouri tia. Either way I'm sure there are plenty of single women in the branch looking for a farmer to steal.

I appreciate the offer, but my wife wouldn't be real thrilled about it.  Might have to take you up on the rice though.

Of course, I don't get through Ottumwa often at all.  No friends/family in the area and it's not really on the way to anywhere I go.  I think I've been through there once.
