You think people wanted Snead because he beat Florida, in a season we were undefeated and Colt won the Maxwell award? sure guy.
I love that you keep following me around making period jokes lol. I didn’t realize you were such a strident follower of my works. It’s nice to have a fan.

I specifically said what happened in September of that year you dumb fucking retard.

Quoting my posts where I have already said Snead sat out his sophomore year for transferring, you being incorrect on him not getting snaps his true freshmen year, getting the context of very simple to under set and posts completely wrong, and then trying to insult me is certainly something

If you are going to skip the context of posts I can’t help you. After you catch your breath, reread what you responded to and what was quoted.

People pining for Snead while Colt had 14 TDs, 1 turnover, 80+ completion and over 200 QBR. Totally. Nice context.

Ive got a newsletter to if you’d like to subscribe. It’s called tampons and football. I’ll send you a link

Arch might have 4 or even 5 new starters on the oline, could be some growing pains for sure.

That’s the real worry. Goosby seems like he should be at least good enough but who are the other starters even going to be? Even if Sark doesn’t like to we are going to have to utilize some ZR and waggles to keep Arch cleaner.

Yea that did in fact happen at that time. Fans also wished Snead was here all offseason, thinking he transferred too early when he couldn’t play that year. And they also wanted him before that after Colts injuries and late season meltdown during his “Heisman contending” freshman season. And they even wanted him before the 2006 season started as a True Freshman.

With Quinn gone next year and Arch being the new QB1, how do Surly posters play their roles going forward? Do the Quinn lovers become the Arch apologists because they just like to root for the incumbent? I think I saw Jimmyjazz defending the RT hire tooth and nail and then he defended Quinn as if his life depended on it. Maybe some fans just want to be the propaganda arm of the athletic department like Texags.

Does everyone who was calling for Arch to start this year now start calling for the next backup if Arch struggles? Curious to see how it plays out next year.

It’s the internet someone will always call for the back-up QB. I expect there to be some growing pains next year. Likely replacing 4-5 on the OL. Losing Golden, Bond, and Helm. There will be complaining after Manning has a bad game. I doubt you will see calls at the end of the season. You certainly won’t see it in Arch’s 3rd year as a starter. Mostly because he’ll be in the NFL after 2

If you say so. I don’t remember any discussion of Snead after Colt accounted for 4 TDs, 325yds and and 82% completion percentage to open the season in 08. Were you even posting here then or were you too busy throwing tantrums and posting your pay stubs

I've seen a lot of intentional blurring of historical data...but I'm pretty sure we were not undefeated nor did Colt win the Maxwell in 2007......

Who said that

Apparently Colt won the Maxwell award third week of September before Snead upset Florida

No he just had 14 TDS and and a 200+ QBR. Sounds like a guy that needs replacing.

hutson has played a ton, goosby has shown himself capable, campbell will likely return and neto will be entering his 3rd consecutive year as the best OL on the roster.  I think we’ll be fine.

... Plenty of people wanted Snead to start over McCoy at the beginning of the season. After colt gets hurt and loses last two games of the year...

Snead transfers...

Freshman McCoy got a right shoulder/neck stinger (appeared to be basically the same injury he got in the Bama NC game three years later and at least once more in the NFL) running in the first TD at KState. Snead ran the rest of the game, put up 35 more points. We got Purple Wizarded and lost 45-42. I don't see any rational point in blaming Snead for the loss. Next up was aggy, in Austin. McCoy was still hurt and had flu on top of it, but his brilliant coach, Mack Brown, played him anyway. He was completely ineffective. Snead stood right next to Mack the whole game, arms folded, waiting - in vain - to go in. McCoy got cheap-shotted twice by aggy in the last minutes, and wound up being carried off the field (giving rise to the aggy "Cart McCry" meme). Snead got to throw one pass into the icy wind as the game ended. Snead was clearly pissed, and he fucked off to Ole Miss... it's hard to blame him.

Some coaches are really too hard headed about their playing time decisions. Backup QBs are there for this exact reason. Don't ever preach "next man up" if you won't practice it.

Is Connor Robertson the projected C starter next year right now? With Daniel Cruz backing him up?

I think Cole Hutson is odds on favorite. Guessing those 3 will compete. Hutson could move back to guard, if Cruz or Robertson are ready

I don't know if we could have kept Snead on the team, but if we woulda coulda shoulda had him coming onto the field against Bama when Colt went down,  insteada Gilbert we'da won that game. Bet Snead woulda known where his helmet was, too.

If he had that resentment though it's probably better he was gone from the locker room. We had no way of knowing Gilbert was bad. Even in the NCG, he didn't look that bad.

I do think there is a lot that gets lost in these discussions and people want it to be a QB1 vs QB2. You can be critical of the QB1 without thinking that the backup should start. There were a couple times this season where maybe starting Arch made sense, but really a lot of people just wanted Quinn to play better and our team to utilize the tools we have more effectively, arch being one of those tools.

When Arch struggles, I’ll be critical of Arch. It Owens were to show he had some added value for the offense then I’m sure people would want to utilize that. I doubt that’s the case but it’s possible.
This year was a bit different then most with the QB1 vs QB2 debate because the two players had vastly different skill sets.

I feel the same way. I always root for the team and want the best players to play. I don't understand why someone would put a player or coach above what's best for the team unless you have some personal connections to those guys.

Gilbert was bad. He was I think 15 of 40, 4 INTs? Boom had Bama shut down in second half, and we were 3 points down with 3 minutes left. Gilbert didn't see an unblocked blitz coming, sacked, lost the ball on our own 3 yard line. Bama scored. Then even more desperation time, INT. Bama scored. Looks like a total ass-kicking, score-wise, but Bama got 13 at the end of the game with Texas trying to drive. It was a 3-point game, but freshman QB choked at the end, went from 21-24 to 21-37.

No Snead, but we had a Junior QB who got zip for playing time all season so Mack could let his freshman get some pt. Sherrod Harris - not sure if he coulda done better than Gilbert, but prolly couldn't have been much worse. Harris quit football the next year. Can't say he shouldn't have.

You're right, Snead would probably have bailed anyway. But if not, he would have beat the Tide. I don't think Bama threw more than 10 times total, and Mack decided he needed to change his offense to run instead of passing. Gilbert was no runner. What a beating that shit was.

Hey, screw that. Let's get back to the Arch Era.
