The moment he loses a game, you guys are gonna say "He's not Peyton or Eli."

I don't want college Peyton or Eli.

I mean this as nicely as possible, but how can you tell the difference between being concussed and the trademark Manning blank stare?

So ready for Arch to take control of the offense and team. The play tonight that he ran for the first, while reviewing it for a possible fumble, the dumb asses didn’t “think” to possibly review that play for targeting? It was never mentioned as a possibility by the TV crew, as I kept hollering that they were looking for the wrong thing.

I really think Arch was concussed by that blow to the back of his head and that’s why Sark didn’t send him in there when we had the ball under 3:00 with 1st and Goal.

Hook’em!!!

Wtf that wasn’t targeting in the slightest

I thought he was concussed and said it in the game thread as well. Dude hit him with the crown of his helmet right in the back of Arch’s head. That’s exactly when he drops the ball, just lets go it looks like. Then he stumbled to get up which seemed weird. Then they showed his face and it definitely looked like he was dazed, which I thought was weird as the tackle seemed routine. Then they showed the replay and helmet to helmet.

So, you’re saying our defense will get 2 pick six’s two scoop and scores and a safety.  Let’s hope PK can keep him under 29 points.

I was pretty certain that he banged the ball off his right knee as he was going down, knocking it loose.  Thankfully, his left knee was down at that moment.

That's a weird helmet-to-helmet in that the defender accomplishes it with his neck while making main contact with his shoulder.  Can a neck movement be considered launching?

Yes it was. It used to be called spearing.

Looks to me like first contact is right above the label. Crown imo is closer to 2nd set of vents

Some examples of targeting include:

Launching into an opponent with a hit to the head or neck - check

Using the top of the helmet to strike an opponent - check

Forcibly hitting a defenseless player in the head or neck area - check

Crouching before making a tackle to create maximum force

Leading with the helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand, or elbow to attack - check

Lowering the head before making a tackle and making forcible contact with the crown of the helmet -check

There’s another view from the left of this one (maybe sky cam?) where you can see just how much his head gets rocked by the defenders helmet, does anyone have that?

The crown of a football helmet is the top part of the helmet, from the area above the facemask to the dome.

His facemask is pointing to the ground man.

If you are going to call targeting for any forcible contact above the face mask you are going to have to call it on every play. I can’t recall spearing being called for a play like this one back when I covered HS and college games

He leads with the stop of the helmet. He launches. Then he follows through with a forearm.

It doesn’t make a shit, but it should have been targeting. The picture you posted is clearly leading with the crown.

@hobbes2702 you are correct about the rule

From NFL.com

This image is from a short video that illustrates very well the biomechanics of leading w the helmet and the risks of concussions to the player being tackled. Striking with the red area is what would have traditionally be flagged for spearing. The yellow area should be a foul but from what I’ve seen is rarely called in games. Should have been at least reviewed IMO.

Judkins used his helmet as a weapon to de-cleat Gilbeau on a Henderson run.  Not a runner/tackler situation, obviously, but it was nasty.  They played physical.

Wrong - slow mo, which the TV ref had time during the review for possible fumble, should’ve buzzed in and said we had targeting on #8, plus no fumble. IMO.

Ewers did a lot of good things here and was generally fine last night, buuuuuut.....

The offense is about to get a lot more dynamic. No more scoring 14-17 points against good defenses.

when Jalen Hurts got concussed  a couple weeks ago and the camera zoomed in  he and Arch had the exact concussed look in their eyes.

not as intentional as that dick head olineman after a play was dead, that was just fucking dirty and tried to hurt someone.

If we had put that hit on an opposing QB, all the media would be talking about is the missed targeting call.

I'm just ready for a change.

Let's go see.

I’ve been a Quinn “defender” to a degree though I think I’m quite nuanced about it like just about everything in my life but I’ll say this, I’m ready too.

i don’t think he solves all our problems that sark presents but I do think he’s a better fit for sark and I think once the game really slows down he’s going to rake it.

I don’t expect to win it all next year but I do think arch will take us home. And I hope from there we stay at the mountain top.

I hope we can support both guys as our QB and quit playing the either/or game. Thats a shitty way to treat our players.

John@iam_johnw is a homer twatwaffle and a dumbfuck. No way is that a fumble. You've got to ignore contact by Arch's left wrist, forearm and his left knee well before the ball comes loose due to contact with his right knee and the ground (2nd screenshot below).

@iam_johnw-twat-waffle.jpg.fd3063f44baf6c8abf752aecacfd3e57.jpg

Ball just starts to move loose here due to contact with his right knee and the ground. Really difficult to discern if the ball movement due to his knee contact precedes contact with the ground, but it doesn't matter at this point, since he is ruled down by the above screenshot well before this occurs.
