Dehydrating

Recommended Posts

I just got one.  It was a slick deal.

I am currently dehydrating what I had in my fridge, as I just got it today.

Broccoli, Cauliflower , and left over smoked brisket.

130 degrees.  I guess I will see what happens when I wake up tomorrow.

Anyone have one and have things they like?

I've been given or bought in the past green beans, and okra. They were great.  Bananas are good, but usually they cover them in sugar.

Anyone have a good beef jerky recipe?  Googling there is one standard recipe.

  •  pounds flank steak (or eye or round or top round steak)
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons coarsely-ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

The one thing I learned from when they were all the rage when I was growing up and my parents got one is that you use it outside if you don't want your entire house to smell like whatever it is that you're dehydrating.

The jerkey turned out great.
It was previously frozen, vacuum packed, non warmed up brisket.  Dry as fuck if what I was looking for and achieved.

It was cut many ways.  I didn't give a shit.  Jerky is to be chewed over and over in my opinion.  It is supposed to be chewey, as to enjoy the flavor.  I tried to get as much of the bark on each piece as possible.

I suppose y'all like the jerky from O"brians that you can swallow right away, like your boyfriends cum.
