RIP Bob.

The Price is Right taped their last show in the Bob Barker Theater a while ago, it aired early this summer. They’re moving to a new set, I forget where. I don’t know if they’ve started taping new episodes there yet or when new episodes will return to TV. I’d be curious to see what kind of tribute they give him whenever that time comes. It would kind of be fitting if they haven’t started taping yet so they can use their first new episode as a salute to Bob Barker. Dude’s a legend.

an absolute keystone of my childhood.

if you had to stay home sick, you crawled out of bed to watch TPIR.

My absolute greatest regret was in 2006. TPIR was going to start recording episodes on Jan 3, 2006, 2 weeks before that, One of my crew of lunatic Longhorn Fans had realized that tape date was perfect for us fools visting SoCal, and had talked to the TPIR producers and gotten 20 tickets for us to show up that day, fully decked out in UT Orange the day before the greatest football game ever played.

we would have been exactly the kind of lunatics the show would have loved to have had on.   It would have been absolutely amazing.

But a few days before that taping, Bob had some sort of minor face surgery, something was taken off, and they couldnt hide the bandaid that covered the spot and the producers had to delay the taping for a week.

That would have been epic. and we missed out because of a tiny fucking bandaid.

RIP Bob, you will be missed

Best tribute would be firing Drew.

Absolutely. Summer vacation, snow days, or sick days all meant The Price is Right.

Requiescant en pace, Bob. You were an absolute legend.

And don’t forget to get your pets spayed neutered.

Somewhere ol' Freaky Bob is up there and reliving the good ol' days before the producers went soft on him and are letting the female contestants reach down deep into his hundred dollar pocket to fish out that c-note.

He and Dawson talking about the good ole days. Maybe with Monty hall and the deals he used to make.

The show was a lot more fun and vibrant with Bob Barker was the host. Impressive given his advanced age.

Truly the GOAT. My Mamaw didn’t walk very well. But we’d watch the Price is Right and bond over that. I think that was Bob’s best quality, bringing people together. RIP Bob.

Drew Carey is just meh, mediocre. Better on sitcoms than as a host.

Probably setting up a threesome with Holly and Dian. When I ran a stereo store in the early 80’s price is right was on all the TVs. Any Holly, Dian, or Janice bikini segment basically shut down the store.

Buck?

I can at least say unlike Ron Johnson, Audio Specialist, aged 26, I didn’t have to take my ladies to a cold little league dugout. I had a fucking apartment at least.

That was an era though that being a stereo salesman was considered very cool. Probably because everyone knew we had good cocaine.

Buck on the other hand was a buffoon, who likely was only tolerated in the store because he brought over porn actresses and would invite the manager to a party or two.

I was working in Memphis. I did sell a stereo system to Gail Stanton, Playmate of the Month June 78. She was maybe the hottest woman I ever saw. I delivered it to her apartment to set it up. My imagined seduction of her was quashed when I arrived. Never saw her. I just was supervised by her Playboy “secretary/security” going.
