So my source says

They will vote to acquit. They will do so in order to hang the 60 House Republicans out to dry who voted to impeach. They will find candidates to run against them that are loyal to Dan Patrick, and enrich the consultants that run that operation

They're intent on making Texas even more unlivable.

Then why not do that last week?

They can’t erase the other four impeachment charges and those charges are out of their control.

That will also push the House farther away from playing nice with the Senate.

And if Patrick wanted to hang them out to dry, he would have done so back on the fourth when they voted whether to accept the charges or dismiss them outright.

And Paxton doesn’t have the kind of base that they give a shit about - he didn’t have thousands of people showing up to protest this - Republicans don’t give a fuck about the AG as long as there is an (R) next to their name.

But Republicans in Texas may want to match the Dems for stupidity so a civil war next year that will waste a fuckton of campaign resources is on brand.

That’s what I don’t get. If Patrick wanted to put the House in its place, the Senate could have shot down the 16 charges it controls on the very first day, and spared putting Paxton’s shadiness on public display. And  also not introduce a lot more people to the whole Nate Paul saga.  Because when the rest of the federal stuff kicks in, it’s going to be fun.

And Paxton’s lawyers have completely damaged any relationship between DPS and the AG’s office.

They don’t give a damn about Texas. They all know the shit that has been going on with Paxton. They are just trying to decide which verdict will be best for their political careers.

Paxton doesn’t seem to have an actual base outside of a few dozen people who actually came to Austin to support him.  He benefits from the people at the top of the ticket.

They got Flores
Acquittal on first charge

And there we go.
Am enraged and empowered Paxton will be back in office soon (if he’s acquitted on these charges, they’ll find a way to dismiss the remaining four soon).
We’re going to see a brutal GQP civil war. The collateral damage will be horrific. And ultimately, the MAGAs will win. They win, because they follow no rules, respect no limits, and will do anything and everything to win.

I don't think any of the tx house republicans will lose their primaries because of this

Defense told us over an over about the bazillion Texans who voted for him.
