4.1M Earthquake in Falls City/Karnes County

Only 2 miles deep. Likely related to reactivated faults within Edwards Reef Trend production and/or water injection. Prob too deep for Eagleford?

There were 3 smaller earthquakes +/- 3 M a few days ago near the same location...

When you drive through and see the endless well flares of operating wells that would not be profitable prior to fracking.  I would not be surprised to find in time that it is a contributory factor.

I also thought if it was category 10+ how many two story buildings are there even in the area at risk?

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit western Texas on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck about 23 miles west-southwest from Mentone, Texas, around 4:27 a.m. local time.

"You probably were just rudely awakened by an earthquake. USGS is reporting a M5.2 south of Carlsbad, NM, which occurred at 3:27am. We felt it here in Santa Teresa," the National Weather Service for El Paso, Texas, said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Yeah there's a ton of oil wells and fracking sites out there. I frequently look at the USGS worldwide earthquake map and there are rumblings in that area all the damn time. Just so happened to be one big enough to wake people up. Be careful looking at the online map. You could easily waste hours of your day looking at earthquakes, googling their GPS locations, and seeing satellite footage of the epicenter. Every once in a while there will be a small one located below a house and I always wonder if it was something else that caused it like a late night trip to Chipotle.
