Two backs drafted in early rounds last year and another one this cycle (maybe two is Robinson is snagged at the end of the 7th or something). It's clearly up in the air in terms what Blue does this next season, but I think it is credible to argue that his measurables will play pretty at the combine/pro day. It would be kind of kickass to see a back moving on to the NFL after each season for a while. Seems like Bama pumped out a back from their factory every season for a decade, but I'm sure there was a cycle or two where they missed. Still, we're walking in some high cotton with the roster right now.

To add some context to the work Sark’s done with the roster, from 2012-2020 we had 9 guys drafted in the first 3 rounds. Sark hasn’t even had a single one of his full recruiting classes on campus for 3 years and he’s about to have 5 guys drafted in the first 3 rounds this year.

So that'll make seven. Next year you have Banks and Ewers almost seeming like locks to tie that prior period. Other emergences could obviously drive well north of that. It's a good time to be a fan.

I went and checked out Bama's draft history from 2009-2023. They've had a ridiculous amount of TBs taken in the first 3 rounds during that time, but they don't really have a streak longer than 3 or 4 drafts in which one was taken. Looks like they might get one taken late this year in Jase McClellan.

Man, I would be so happy for Jordan if he could get drafted. I know he'll almost certainly go UDFA, but the dude deserves to have good things happen to him.

He’s probably better off going UDFA than going in the 7th….

He had a rep for partying too much early in his college career.  Getting a DWI right before the draft did a lot of damage to him having put that behind him.

Saying he almost quit football several times in his Path to Draft profile Probably didn’t help either.

16.5- Murphy

17.5- Mitchell

28.5- Worthy

50.5- Sanders

56.5- Brooks

With that 5th round mock draft of Sanders, better that he goes AFTER the 50th pick of the entire draft looks like the best bet in the entire draft.

Greg Cosell said that on film, JJ McCarthy grades out as a 2nd Rd player.  He does like that McCarthy has experience going under center, turning his back to the defense to fake handoffs, and then quickly turning his head back and quickly processing what the defense is doing.  QBs that work out of the shotgun in college tend to have early struggles going under center in the NFL.

He also said based on film, he had CJ Stroud rated the #1 QB in the 2023 NFL Draft.

I would look at it the other way; the betting market from a book with two-way betting action like Circa is likely more accurate than a random mock draft

Apparently at a private pro day event for NFL draftees that weren't able to compete at combine or their team pro day Whittington ran a 4.42 verified 40.

That is way better than I thought it would be.

they must've been focusing on the OU tape
Or measurables or senior film. He just didn't have the season that lot of folks expected after a good Jr. season. I'm sure his injury didn't do him any favors.

Translation: a team drafting later in the first wants him badly so is floating this to scare off teams who are picking earlier.

It's bordering on slanderous. I've never heard a negative thing about the guy's character or demeanor. I didn't even know he was diabetic.

I think this qb class is vastly overrated. Great college qbs that I'm not sure will translate well to NFL and may have long term issues. I wouldn't want to be one of the teams needing to draft a qb early. Later rounds may produce better long term prospects.

Looks like Sweat’s prospects got rear ended as well. Wasn’t he projected as a 1st round pick?

Most had Sweat late 2nd.  Now may have to wait till 4th Rd...

Looking at the circa o/u, the only players commonly in first round mocks who don't have a line are Caleb, Daniels, Maye, Guyton, and Morgan.. which makes you think Guyton and Morgan are candidates to not go in the first

Making a mock (but leaving out the teams) based on the O/U gives you

1) Caleb Williams

2) Drake Maye / Jayden Daniels

3) Drake Maye / Jayden Daniels

4) Marvin Harrison Jr (4.5)

5) JJ McCarthy / Malik Nabers (5.5)

10) Brock Bowers (11.5)

11) Taliese Fuaga (12.5)

Right after the combine, some thought there was a decent chance Sweat would go late first, and it seemed like his range was probably late first to mid second, but his pre-draft stuff has been a disaster since then

True, but in recent stuff prior to his DWI accident, several so-called experts were already pushing Sweat to later 2nd Rd since DTs aren't as valued as other positions.

Late March after Combine,  Matt Miller's 7 round mock

54. Sweat - Cleveland

Sweat did not make this Top 50...

And Yates left Sweat out of 1st two rounds like you posted before...

Hopefully Sweat goes to a great organization that helps him avoid any more off the field issues.  Gotta get to that 2nd contract and make enough money to set himself up well financially.

Interior DT that can generate a pass rush are highly valued.
