Wonder if Atlanta gets trade offers now that they have secured Cousins. Most mocks had them taking players other than a QB but they have a top 10 pick that someone will want.

Dallas turner makes sense for them

There are rumors that the Patriots don't like Maye and don't rate him as a first rounder. If the Commies take Daniels then the Pats might trade out of the spot rather than roll the dice on one of the others.

and as a former fourth round pick.

FIFY

He's well above average since he's been starting for most of his career. He also has nearly 40k passing yards and a 2.7:1.1 career TD to INT ratio.

He's also above average amongst starting NFL QBs.

He also isn't getting that kind of money to be a starting NFL QB on a team entering his age 36 season if he isn't above average. He is and who is and people who matter clearly value his previous and potential contributions to a team as a starter.

He's not a super bowl caliber QB on his own, but he would be an upgrade over most starting QBs in the league.

Shit, Baker just got $100M to give you an idea of the market

It's nuts.  I think Baker is making the same, if not more than Brady was making in TB just 2 years ago.

Try to get that to make sense in your brain.

Yeah, like it or not, Cousins is a Top 5 QB in the league the past few years.

People freaking out over a guy with his production getting paid big money, meanwhile you've got guys who don't produce and who hardly see the field getting paid just as much or more.  Watson, Garoppolo, Jones, Carr, etc.

He’s been good, but he hasn’t been a top five QB

Baker has twice as many playoff wins and is younger than Kirk. Also, he isn't coming off of an injury that has been devastating for humans and their athletic endeavors since the Trojan War.

that gives the Vikings the #11 and #23 picks in the first.

This reminds me of the SF transactions leading up to the Trey Lance draft. Feels like the Vikings made this trade so they can make another trade that gets them into the top 5 to take a QB.

It depends on what trade value chart you use, but picks 11 and 23 get you somewhere between pick #3 and #4. Obviously you need a team willing to trade out or you may have to massively overpay, but I’d guess they’re gunning for pick #2 or #3 and will add more to get there.

That's what it looks like to me as well.  I don't think they're picking up a late first round pick in a draft of this type (i.e., solid in terms of depth but unexceptional in the top 20) simply to get another player; rather, they're looking to package and move up to get someone in the top 5 picks or so.

It's pick 3, 4, or 5. You typically have to add a premium when it's a trade up for a QB.

If NE wants a QB, they obviously aren't trading that pick. Everyone in the league/industry knows that LAC has been shopping that pick at #5, but Minnesota trading to #5 is risking QBs going 1-4, so it could be a trade up to #4.

If the rumors of NE not being very high on Maye are true then they may be the target for a trade if Williams and Daniels are both off of the board.

I don't think they would trade with the Chargers if the top 3 QBs are off the board - that would be an extremely high price to pay for someone like McCarthy (if he's even that high on everyone's boards).

But NFL front offices do stupid things all the time so who knows?

With the Bears keeping the 1st pick and picking Caleb Williams it just assures that he will be a bust

This has been rehashed a million times, but the Falcons have effectively given Cousin's a 2 year deal they can (relatively) affordably cut and walk away from in 2026.  In effect, they've elected to try and bring in a veteran while they have their core rookies on value bargain deals and hope they can put a run together.  The weakness in their division (the Panthers are quickly becoming the most poorly run franchise in the league, the Saints are grasping at straws with an aging core and Derek Carr, and the Bucs are meh) suggests that it's a pretty sound strategy, assuming Cousin's Achilles holds up.  It's pricey, but a better option than hoping Desmond Ritter is going to stop being ass or that the 8 pick is going to net them a qb that will get them to the promised land while the core of the team is still cheap.

This and the weird Steelers situation are just further examples of teams trying to figure out how to win with talented core's while not attaching themselves to a QB who is going to bankrupt the talent pool of the team. We are likely to see more, not less, creative QB solutions in the future.

10 is a bit crazy but Quinn as of right now is not top 5..  If he figures out how to be accurate with the deep throws and read defenses a bit quicker he will be.

lol wut. As of right now, the 2025 QB class is very weak. There aren’t 5 QB better than him on that list. He’s easily top 3 with the opportunity to be #1 if he improves.

other than Beck and Sanders - who on that list is better than Quinn right now?

(not saying that they are btw just giving these two for arguments' sake)

Graham Mertz and DJ Ukelele are awful lol.

Quinn needs to work on 1) deep pass accuracy and 2) arm angle so his passes don't get batted down so easily. If he can fix that, he's easily somewhere between 1-3 on that list.

Kiper posted his updated mock and also has Vikings picking McCarthy but at 11. He does have the NE and Commies QBs flipped from Jeremiah's.

Jeremiah is wrong on the Broncos IMHO - they need a QB and if they can't get someone they are really high on then I'd expect them to trade down rather than pick an OL. Kiper has them picking Nix at 12 which would be...interesting.

As for our guys:

19. Byron Murphy to Rams

26. Xavier Worthy to Bucs to catch passes from douchebag Baker

32. Adonai Mitchell to Chefs

Maybe DJ is off on Denver, but he's light years ahead of Kiper at this point, who appears to have gotten drunk around pick #28 while writing his mock

These two really make that list look like satire. DJ looked great for a half a season, since then he has looked like a guy who completes less than 60% of his passes.

He got passed up by younger and more talented people in the industry, and now he's kept around since he's a name
