Kelce will be turning 35 next season. He’s not all that relevant to draft considerations or projecting if a WR can become a #1 target down the road.

I'm late here, but I bet KC goes WR twice early in the draft, whether that's 1st and 3rd, or 2nd and 3rd, or whatever

They need to inject more young cheap talent. They're going to have to spend cap to keep other positions in tact, and won't be able to spend on WR

Has Brugler always been that high on Sweat or is this a post-Senior Bowl jump in the rankings for him? It seems like Sweat had a good showing at the Senior Bowl and may climb a lot of peoples’ lists.

In August and November he didn't have Sweat in his top 50, but I remember listening to him say during the season that he liked Sweat more than Jordan Davis, as similar architypes. He seems to put a cap on DTs who aren't consistent pass rushing threats

Jordan Davis definitely seems like the comp to me, but I think Sweat is quite a bit more disruptive. Davis went 13th. I doubt Sweat goes that high, because Davis was overdrafted at 13.

Sweat has a  good chance to sneak into the first round IMO. His film this year was absolutely elite despite not being a huge pass rusher. He’s kind of like the defensive version of an elite Guard or Center. His position caps his value, but you know you’re getting a great player. The Ravens took Tyler Lindenbaum 25th a couple years ago. I could see something similar to that for Sweat.

Starting at 25, the Packers, Bills, Lions, Ravens, and Chiefs could all be potential landing spots for him.

Sweat will measure a few inches shorter than Davis did (6’6, 341), but the biggest difference will be their overall athleticism testing. Davis ran a 4.78 40 and broad jumped 10’3 (the former is rare air, while the latter was a record for a player over 300 pounds). Those two items are why he was drafted 13th - athletic potential.

However, I think Sweat is a better player and agree he’s more disruptive.

The biggest difference will be that Sweat can actually stay on the field

Davis didn't play on 3rd downs for Georgia and there were questions about if his effectiveness would drop if he had to play more snaps

Murphy, Sweat, Mitchell, Worthy, Sanders, Brooks, Ford, Jones, Watts, Whittington, and ....? I can't even remember the punter's name. The punter? I feel like I'm forgetting someone else.
Ryan Sanborn. Hi Tom, how is life down in America's dong?

Good points. To me, why is being a few inches taller, when players are between 6'3" and 6'6", at DT, a good thing? Why in the fuck does anyone care about a 40 time for a DT?

Jordan Davis was always given credit for shit he "could" do versus necessarily doing it. It's absurd to me that Sweat could go as many as 50 picks behind him when Sweat has fine measurables and tape to match belief in his upside.

I talked to a friend who was dealing with Senior Bowl related scouting stuff and he said that the buzz going into the week regarding the DTs was seeing them against "better" IOL than Big 12 IOL. I said that was fucking stupid. Go watch the Bama tape. Christ.

I just don't see that high of value for Dallas Turner... seems like he'll be a real bust in NFL

He won't last long if he insists on driving NFL QB's into the turf, but he still has value.

Dallas Turner, who @Fud will defend as though he's related, is the prototypical NFL bust. The guy has a clear on/off switch that he can flip whenever he likes to do so. Typically, he only likes to flip it on when money is on the line or when he gets to go up against the sisters of the poor and their teams. He lit up a few shitty teams late his freshman season. He got overhyped heading into his sophomore season and did absolutely nothing and took the year off. Then his JR year, he shit all himself against Texas, moped, and then played up in a few games with a lot of eyeballs on them and money on the line.

What that piece of shit excelled at was hammering QBs deliberately into the turf. He's as dirty as they come out of college, ranking alongside the likes of Vontez Burfict. The guy managed to end games, parts of seasons or seasons for no less than 4 QBs while at Bama, exhibiting the same behavior each time - late hits attempting to pin the helpless QB's shoulder into the turf. I continue to root for him to have a brutal career-ending injury.

Turns out it was Keilan Robinson. I knew I was forgetting someone. Ryan Sanborn is probably interviewing for accounting jobs at Big 4 firms as this is typed.

IIRC, I pointed out why he'll get drafted high, I didn't endorse the pick

I'd avoid drafting edge rushers high in this draft, although if guys fall then at some point it makes sense to scoop them up

Looking at that combine invite list, it's the first time I've seen Sam Hartman mentioned in the draft.  Seems like that guy could be a purdy 2.0 if he gets in the right system.  Or maybe I just remember him from qb1 as one of the non-douchy guys so I'm just hoping he'll do well.

Texas has combine participants at every position group on offense and defense except QB, who would have been there if he had declared for the draft, and P/K. That's how you build a fucking team. Have a guy who will play on Sundays at every position group. It's just that easy.

Latest ESPN mock draft (from Field Yates) has Murphy going #13 to the Raiders and Mitchell going to the Chefs at #32.

Biggest discussion point for now on the draft is what decision the Bears make at #1 - do they stick with Fields and trade down or launch him and take Williams?

Another mock I saw had a pick that I actually liked even though I'm on the record as not liking him as a first round prospect - McCarthy to the Rams at #19.

If you like McCarthy's potential then this is the ideal spot for him as he gets to back up Stafford for a couple of years while developing (which he needs). Would be a page out of the Packers' playbook.

It appears that all intel is that Chicago is going to take Caleb. As we get closer they'll probably try to muddy the waters, but it should be a shock of they don't take him. The question is what kind of draft haul are they getting for Fields? Probably something like a 2nd and a 4th

The Rams are drafting their first 1st round pick since 2016. I think they'll take an immediate impact guy rather than a backup QB.

Yeah, his measurables certainly jumped him up, but 40 time is absolutely irrelevant to his play, and broad jump is also pretty useless if the guy hasn’t actually exhibited much explosiveness or disruptiveness in his game film. It was a dumb pick at the time by the Eagles even without the benefit of hindsight.

100%. I'd even argue that, although Sweat isn't quite the pass rushing threat that Davis was perceived to be based on athletic profile, his ability to take on double teams and push the pocket back on any given play increases the ability of the pass rushers around him. Both Sweat and Murphy boost a line's ability to do this more effectively.

The Rams are drafting their first 1st round pick since 2016. I think they'll take an immediate impact guy rather than a backup QB.

I'll be shocked if Rams don't trade down to add more picks...

unless maybe they have some glaring need that has to be addressed in the 1st Rd??

Turns out it was Keilan Robinson. I knew I was forgetting someone. Ryan Sanborn is probably interviewing for accounting jobs at Big 4 firms as this is typed.

Or scoring hot, smart Asian pussy in the Bay Area from his time at tree.

I'll throw my Mock 2.0 in here for y'all to pick apart...note there are several projected trades.  Mostly by the Bears trading back to accumulate picks.  I have the Steelers trading the No. 22 pick for Justin Fields.  I also think Denver could trade up to get Bo Nix.  I'm not a huge Nix fan, but he seems like a perfect fit for Sean Payton's system.

I also have Carolina trading back into the 1st round to pick a CB, and the Bears using some of their draft stockpile to take the Panthers' pick to take JJ McCarthy.

I see the 1st being WR heavy since it's a QB/WR league.

The reason Drake Maye is #1 is because I think he's a better fit for Atlanta's new OC.

No way Quinton Mitchell from Toledo lasts until the 2nd round, especially after the numbers he’s going to put up at the combine…
