Week 9, 2023: Kansas State @ Texas

Per FCB:
-Murphy did not practice Tuesday (injury). Returned Wednesday.
-Sanders tweaked his ankle early in the week and Christian Jones did not finish a practice
-Burke had a knee scope last week and has an outside shot to play Saturday but should be full go by TCU
-Ewers has an outside shot to be back next week but Iowa State might be more realistic
-Catalon is still at least a week away from even being cleared to practice
Yay!

YALL are worried about the wrong team. It’s 2 teams left on our schedule I’m worried about and K-State is not one rather Murphy starts or not.

That’s Because Okie Lite is actually a decent team and so is Mizzou., so tell me who has K-State beaten that’s actually good??? again why are yall so hell bent on K-State coming into DKR and winning when they haven’t done so yet??

If Murphy plays a cleaner game we win. Ewers was good and I’d rather him but what games has the QB went out there put the team on his back and won it???? Bama, maybe but I’ll say more so the defense won us that game. This team can win without Murphy being all world. He just needs to keep the ball in our possession

I mean personally, I think our tough game left is at Iowa State

Did he say whether or not Majors would play?

We will be a bigger favorite AT Iowa St than we are this weekend versus Kansas St at home.

With the way this team has trended down since Bama (both on offense AND defense, even with Quinn), and esp with an unproven and inexperienced QB (even at home), this weekend should scare you to death.

Chip Brown is a know-nothing dufus. They're using him at this point to push out bad info as much as they're using him for anything.

MM doesn't have an "injury" when he misses practice. I doubt Brown understands the difference between an injury and what happens every now and then health-wise for Murphy.

No one really expects Ewers back until ISU. That idiot is hinting at TCU strictly for the hope of traffic.

If we have a healthy Ewers, then I agree.

I have some concerns about Saturday.  Not feeling the greatest amount of confidence.  I hope Maalik is close to 100% and the extra week of being the No. 1 leads to significant improvement of the overall offense.

We've all seen this with idiots from "schools" that have their entire identities tied to a particular sports program. For you guys and your sad history across all sports, you've moored yourself to your football program.

Kansas State has the academic rigor of a small town Texas high school. It's an open enrollment pseudo-juco. The paper the degrees are printed on is worth more as an asswipe than in a frame, nailed to your poorly wall-papered tenement on the prairie that you're calling home.

Texas, the brand and the institution, is about far more than football. As a result, people nationally give a shit about Texas in sports, including football, whether Texas is good or shitty in that sport at any given moment.

We understand that this is impossible for low-experience, room temperature IQ'd, overall-wearing goobers like you to understand. We're okay with that.

Congratulations on the amazing run of 3 conference titles in 27 years after being the worst program in college football for the first century of the sport's existence. Your pathetic high point matches our pathetic low point, and we still won more hardware than you. Enjoy your familiar descent back into complete irrelevance after Texas heads for greener pastures. You're welcome for the brief elevation into the realm of anyone outside of your state even knowing you existed.

I'm taking 3 of my little kids with me this weekend. Tomorrow night we're going to Matt's El Rancho. After the game on Saturday, I'm taking them out to Salt Lick for the evening. Sunday morning, we're going to grab some Bill Miller breakfast tacos and Starbuck's coffee and pumpkin spiced lattes and then heading home.
I'll be posting numerous photos and reviews on this thread of each experience, in an effort to help folks like you that might not have enough background on all of the culinary marvels that greater Austin has to offer for the out-of-towners.

Doing God’s work.

Don't forget to work in your challenge to a random Surly poster to a 40-yard dash and losing by 8 seconds.

Vazquez Restaurant, Tacodeli, or Rudy's have breakfast tacos that I dig.

Bill Miller's sliced beef po-boys sure have really had a price jump since the 90s.

I don't even really remember what started the 40 yard stuff but it cracks me up.

@SydneyCarton was once convinced that he could beat me in a foot race. Talked about it for years. After too many drinks at the steakhouse in Mandalay Bay one year, in front of all of our friends, he decided that was the right time for it. He took off his shoes and socks and got down in a track stance (while still wearing his sport coat) just outside of the front of that restaurant in the large restaurant area foyer with its hard, smooth flooring. People were filming this guy.

I passed on the opportunity. A year later, right before heading to Vegas for our annual trip, we were working out at a ball field near my home. Challenged to race yet again, I beat the guy by 10 yards in a 50 yard sprint. He hasn't challenged me since. There is a wake of dead bodies behind me in local sprint challenges, sir. Consider your next move with the appropriate caution.

I thought they were just playing the running QB? Is their veteran back? It’s the running QB who makes me the most nervous.

Against TCU, they rotated every drive with Howard (the veteran you mention, who also runs a lot) starting

Against Houston, it was Howard for six of the first seven drives

Now that I'm skinny and squatting massive amounts of weight I can run much faster and much further. I'm thinking you don't want any part of me in the 100 which I will drop in a smooth 15 flat.  When I slap you with a white glove the next time I see you at a tailgate you will know that's my challenge to you in the 100 yard dash.

I got something similar to this. It also started out a few days before during a night of drinking and talking shit. I start giving my buddy shit that he was never fast yadda yadda. He throws out a bet, don't remember what it was. Well that's all it took, i'm not backing down from most bets and KNOWING i can't beat him. So one morning we go out to the park to settle this shit show. Were gonna do it in the parking lot but decide to move it to the grass. As i'm walking on the grass it's so soft i can feel the ground moving as i walk the 40yrds first. Great sign of things to come.

We take off and about half way there i start to lose my balance and as i start leaning forward i start doing the windmill motion with my arms. At this point i'm thinking "no biggie, i'm gonna fall, i'll just roll forward and pop up like i see all the pros do". Well that didn't work out, shoulder planted into the soft ground and i skidded to a stop scrapping my whole left side. This was about 10yrs ago and i'm reminded about it every time we"re drunk and start talking shit.

These days a weight lifting competition would be better. I'd probably still lose but my slow ass would stand a better chance.

Drunk Racing would get my vote for the next sport that needs to be in the Olympics. There is nothing more fun, than watching idiots outside a bar race. At minimum it should be part of the X games

Your entire plan is undermined when you consider that all I have to do is show up to the tailgate later than you, and sober, and you would lose coming out of the starting gate.

The windmilling is hilarious.

We were playing touch football on the same field that we raced on a few years prior and, again, about to head to Vegas. I was running a quick slant on a buddy, cut in hard and then collapsed. I was sure I'd beaten my friend on the move, but he had clearly just kicked me as hard as could in the calf muscle. Right? Nope. He was nowhere near me. Pulled the calf severely and went down like I'd been shot. Spent the next 4 days limping around like a lame idiot across airports and casinos, impressing all of the ladies.

Sucks getting old.

I mean, if you show up later than me and sober I'm a gentleman and will give you time to get drunk before we race, fear not.
